Invoking My Inner Flower Child

by Rev. Marta Schwartz

imageI choose to be truly helpful. That has been my mantra for some time now. Slowly but surely, it dawned on me that being truly peaceful is how I achieve this goal. This means invoking my inner flower child in a very real way.

Of all the ministerial courses that I have taken, I have been most influenced by the “Peace First” study page first introduced in the Pathways of Light course 802: Oneness Awareness. Over the past several months I have tried with some success to incorporate the attitude that no matter what, “Peace comes first.”

I even found a bumper sticker, the only bumper sticker I have on my Jeep, that simply states PEACE and joined a wonderful church dedicated to Christ Consciousness named Peace Mennonite.

This seemed to me like a good start. We would all like a more peaceful planet; we are in control of our thoughts and how we respond to this world. We can make quite a big impact on how soon the people of this planet lay down the weapons of separation and embrace the Oneness that we truly are. But how do we do this as an active practice?

I was very happy to be led by Holy Spirit to a book written by Dr. Deepak Chopra titled Peace Is The Way. In the back of his book and on his website www.chopra.com, he outlines a seven-day program for peacemakers on how to be, think, feel, speak, act, create and share for Peace.

I have incorporated this program in my morning routine. First I read and meditate on the ACIM’s lesson, which by itself promotes a truly peaceful state. Next I spend five minutes to meditate on the aspect of Peace for that specific day. For example: Today is Thursday, the focus is on Acting for Peace. I am to seek out ways I can help people in need. It may even be bringing a smile to someone’s face. This method breaks it down to a daily focus and allows the practice of Peace to be active, which is very helpful to me. I like specifics and simplicity. I am on my second week of the program and can honestly say I feel a difference in myself and this is truly the beginning. I invite you to check this program out for yourself and see if it invokes your own version of the inner flower child.

Peace is a deep well, filled with infinite calmness,
Nurturing and nourishing all who care to drink the cool cup of water
Offered by Christ
In the guise of a neighbor, friend or perceived foe.
Peace takes happiness to a new level.
Peace is where I want to be.
Peace to you.

God in the Sky

by Rev. Cathy Jo Tomilenko

imageMy story begins at birth, at the age of forty-eight, when I came into the incredible awareness that God is not in the sky. The wounds and fears of past experiences had overtaken my senses. I believed I was suffering at the effect of behaviors and actions of others, hurting, blaming, angered at them for my unhappy life. I tormented myself with pity, self-inflicted low esteem, shielding myself from my own loss of being. Everyone else was responsible for my unhappiness including “God in the sky.”

I always believed God existed, gazing down, making righteous judgments. I was unaware the “I AM” resides in me and Happiness is my choice. How absurd and humorous it seems now that I believed God was choosing whom to punish and whom to love.

At my rebirth, I finally understood the Law of Consciousness. I am God’s expression. Through my humanness I reflect and project God’s attitudes and thoughts. To be loving, healthy and forgiving, I must come from the consciousness of love, health and forgiveness. If I regress in my thinking, because intuitively God’s consciousness is now who “I AM,” I know I have the power to choose when to get back into God’s Divine Flow.

The struggle of choosing to let go of all dastardly, ego blaming circumstances, fears, and demeanor was a process of spiritual cleansing. This pleasant inner act gave me a new sense of total awareness which set me free into a sea of internal peace, happiness and contentment, rejuvenating faith and self love. This gift of unconditional self-love slowly emerged from the innermost depth of my existence. I don’t recall when this realization crystallized, but I was engulfed in overwhelm. Like the innocent quality of a butterfly opening its wings for the first time when shedding its cocoon, I embraced my oneness with God remembering unconditional love, a gift which I can now authentically receive and share.

With this new found self-love, I flung into an awareness of all God’s creations, looking with amazement in the One-derment of the beauty unfolding. I see and feel all that I saw and felt before with a new texture of sensitivity from within – knowing I am manifesting God’s creative power.

This transformation is my Soul emerging with Spirit. God and I are one. There is no separation. My passion for spiritual growth is so intense, I ardently respond to my craving for knowledge so I can further understand and enjoy the Spiritual maturation which is forever creating my life anew, a never ending process. Forgiveness, responsibility, love, trust faith and gratefulness are now synonymous with my human and Spiritual existence.

How simple life is when I come from the knowing that the “I AM” eternally resides in the essence of my being. I no longer look for God and love in the sky. I simply look within.

The Sun Rises (a poem)

by Rev. Julie A Gillespie

imageThe sun rises and illuminates
the hidden places,
The shadows, the crevices of darkness,
Of despair.

Painful, dark caverns of black
Suddenly tinged around the corners
With orange and pink and yellow,
Revealing every detail of the truth
That had lain in waiting to be unveiled.

Darkness cannot compete with this birth,
This benediction of love and longing,
And relief.
Whatever tears had been shed –
Suddenly forgotten in an instant
And regarded as though they never fell.
Long ago it seems there had been a sadness
Yet now you remember not exactly when.

The sun rises and the hollowed mouth of death,
Whose opening had promised kisses of torment,
Of terror,
Now reveals its harmless nature.
Suddenly the place where you had feared to go,
And yet to which you had been drawn,
Is seen in the full, deep breath of day
As eternally powerless, as lord of nothing.

Darkness is lifted from the
Mind of Truth,
And It realizes nothing was ever lost,
Or found.
It simply was as always in eternity.
Suddenly it is seen that the sleeping mind
Simply dreamed of bodies and lack and a world
Where constancy gave way to change,
And love meant something other than All.

The sun rises, and the Mind of God laughs,
And remembers not the time when the impossible was attempted,
And mouths of caverns whispered poison.
Suddenly eternity reveals the dank, dark places of every cave and crevice of the ego and it is seen that no evil lives there and

Never did and never will. Amen

G.O.L.F. Lessons — Gratitude, Oneness, Love and Forgiveness

by Rev. Patty Jackson

I cannot know or see in another something that I don’t know within myself. This is where we are one. The seeds of all humanity lie within me. The form another takes to express part of me might be different than the way I have expressed, but what I perceive in them, I know in myself in some form or experience. What I see in another, I can see with compassion when I accept that part of my own humanity. When I can’t see with compassion but with resistance, a trigger, I know this is a part of me that I have not fully forgiven within myself. What does it mean to forgive, then? Forgiveness here means releasing self judgment around part of my humanity. In that release, the truth of who I really am is free to return to me and the way I see myself and the world.

The G.O.L.F. process is one that came to me as I repeated a pattern that I desperately wanted to change. It uses the energies of Gratitude, Oneness, Love and Forgiveness, but not necessarily in that order.

Here is how it works.

1. Choose a scenario you would like to see differently, one where you find yourself judging another person.

2. Get clear on what you perceive in them. They are being so…. Let yourself know the thoughts of why you think they are behaving this way.

3. Next start the thought of love, self love, by repeating and receiving the thought of “I Love You, I Love You, I love you” to yourself. Let yourself fill with the thought of self love.

4. Gratitude comes next. Bring in gratitude for you. For being this brave earth adventurer, willing to put yourself out there, take some knocks and share, give and receive love. Roll thoughts of gratitude to yourself along with this love.

5. When this feels solid, begin with the other person. They can be in the room with you or far away. Bounce the thought of love back and forth between the two of you. This may be difficult at first. It may be easy. Know that you are tapping in to love for the person behind the perceived problem. Remember parts you do love and allow the perceived problem to move away from your connection to this person, rolling the thoughts of I love you and I love you between you and them.

6. And, gratitude. Bring in the energy of gratitude for this person and for their walking this world with you, being a fellow earth adventurer on this path of life.

When you feel that soulful connect and that the problem is separate from both of you, it is time to bring in forgiveness.

7. Look at the perceived problem, either the energy of it that gathered away from you or the thoughts you defined in step two. Think love, gratitude and “I am so sorry for the part of me that created from the fear that (whatever you are perceiving in the other) back when I didn’t know. I am so sorry for the times that I have… my way, back when I didn’t know.” Feel the waves of forgiveness wash over these memories and continue with all that you perceived as a problem in another.

8. Think “Thank you for helping remember what I DO know now. My truth. Thank you for helping me remember that…”

Enjoy the feeling of relief, expanded truth and knowing within you. Take powerful loving actions from this space, knowing that the shift is felt universally and the other is open to something new now, too.

One day I was riding in the car with my husband. He started going into worry about a snow plow truck that was plowing one of his properties. I felt myself getting sucked in to his worry and it got worse. I stopped in my thoughts and started G.O.L.F.ing. “I love you, I love you, I love you.” I started to myself. And, “I love you, I love you, I love you,” I thought to him. “Thank you (self) and thank you (husband) for walking this world with me. And, I am so sorry for the part of me that creates from the thought of worry in the world. For the part of me that forgets that I am connected to God, the Divine, and that there is nothing that I cannot do and nothing I need to worry about. I am so sorry for the part of me that feels that I am all alone and has to take care of everything. Thank you for helping me remember I can ask for anything. Please help him stop worrying and let him know everything will be alright.” I felt good.

Right then, the conversation shifted. “Oh, that’s right, he did a good job last time. I think it will be alright. He can always come out and plow more after the snow stops falling,” was the new conversation.
