Willingness to Accept Our True Identity

God is my Father, and He loves His Son.

My true Identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It to give it light. ²It lights the world as well. ³It is the gift my Father gave to me; the one as well I give the world. ⁴There is no gift but this that can be either given or received. ⁵This is reality, and only this. ⁶This is illusion’s end. ⁷It is the truth.

My Name, O Father, still is known to You. ²I have forgotten It, and do not know where I am going, who I am, or what it is I do. ³Remind me, Father, now, for I am weary of the world I see. ⁴Reveal what You would have me see instead. (A Course in Miracles, W-224. See also ACIM Lesson 224 Insights.)

We have accepted a false identity that denies the Love we are. We may try to be kind but lapse into fear and guilt because of this mistaken identity. We cannot be truly happy while we deny the Love we are.

Today we ask for help to remember our true Identity; to remember Love. We have been given the Help already. But we have to be willing to accept It. The prayer we are given today is to remember the Love we are. It is an expression of our willingness to let go of the false identity we have made. We are grateful that we have the help to remember we are Love and nothing else.

Accepting the Guidance of Love

I give my life to God to guide today.

Father, I give You all my thoughts today. ²I would have none of mine. ³In place of them, give me Your Own. ⁴I give You all my acts as well, that I may do Your Will instead of seeking goals which cannot be obtained, and wasting time in vain imaginings. ⁵Today I come to You. ⁶I will step back and merely follow You. ⁷Be You the Guide, and I the follower who questions not the wisdom of the Infinite, nor Love whose tenderness I cannot comprehend, but which is yet Your perfect gift to me.

Today we have one Guide to lead us on. ²And as we walk together, we will give this day to Him with no reserve at all. ³This is His day. ⁴And so it is a day of countless gifts and mercies unto us. (A Course in Miracles, W-233. See also ACIM Lesson 233 Insights.)

Today we choose to let Love be as It is. We let It fill our mind and direct all our thoughts. We let Love show the blessings of our unity with the truth in all our brothers.

It is a day we remember the Self that God created one with Himself. We live in His Joy and bring Its blessings with us as we go through the day.

Finding Lasting Happiness

It is your forgiveness that will bring the world of darkness to the light. ²It is your forgiveness that lets you recognize the light in which you see. ³Forgiveness is the demonstration that you are the light of the world. ⁴Through your forgiveness does the truth about yourself return to your memory. ⁵Therefore, in your forgiveness lies your salvation.

Illusions about yourself and the world are one. ²That is why all forgiveness is a gift to yourself. ³Your goal is to find out who you are, having denied your Identity by attacking creation and its Creator. ⁴Now you are learning how to remember the truth. ⁵For this attack must be replaced by forgiveness, so that thoughts of life may replace thoughts of death.

Remember that in every attack you call upon your own weakness, while each time you forgive you call upon the strength of Christ in you. ²Do you not then begin to understand what forgiveness will do for you? ³It will remove all sense of weakness, strain and fatigue from your mind. ⁴It will take away all fear and guilt and pain. ⁵It will restore the invulnerability and power God gave His Son to your awareness.

²Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world.

It does not seem that we attack our Creator. But we see ourselves as vulnerable, inadequate, unhappy and lacking Love. What can this be but an attack on our Creator’s gift of all of His strength, joy and eternal Love?

We need to forgive the alternate identity we have given ourselves. As we let go of this false identity with the Holy Spirit’s help, we let the gifts of God’s strength and Love return to our awareness. We find the lasting happiness that has seemed to elude us.

Letting Truth Dawn Upon Our Mind

I can escape from this world by giving up attack thoughts.

²Herein lies salvation, and nowhere else. ³Without attack thoughts I could not see a world of attack. ⁴As forgiveness allows love to return to my awareness, I will see a world of peace and safety and joy. ⁵And it is this I choose to see, in place of what I look on now.

I do not perceive my own best interests.

²How could I recognize my own best interests when I do not know who I am? ³What I think are my best interests would merely bind me closer to the world of illusions. ⁴I am willing to follow the Guide God has given me to find out what my own best interests are, recognizing that I cannot perceive them by myself.

I do not know what anything is for.

²To me, the purpose of everything is to prove that my illusions about myself are real. ³It is for this purpose that I attempt to use everyone and everything. ⁴It is for this that I believe the world is for. ⁵Therefore I do not recognize its real purpose. ⁶The purpose I have given the world has led to a frightening picture of it. ⁷Let me open my mind to the world’s real purpose by withdrawing the one I have given it, and learning the truth about it. Forgiveness is the path that leads from a life of uncertainty, conflict, fear and guilt to the life we live in God. The life God wills for us is only happiness, peace and Love.

We have accepted a false identity that denies our true Self. It is the denial of Love and all Its attributes. This denial appears in many forms: sadness, loneliness, frustration, fear and anger. We have trained our mind to believe in differences instead of the changelessness of Love.

Today we practice vigilance to recognize the ways we judge and keep ourselves separate. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us see the truth beyond our perceptions. As we let truth dawn upon our mind, we awaken to the life we live in God.

The Choice to Remember We Are Love

This is my holy instant of release.

Father, it is today that I am free, because my will is Yours. ²I thought to make another will. ³Yet nothing that I thought apart from You exists. ⁴And I am free because I was mistaken, and did not affect my own reality at all by my illusions. ⁵Now I give them up, and lay them down before the feet of truth, to be removed forever from my mind. ⁶This is my holy instant of release. ⁷Father, I know my will is one with Yours.

And so today we find our glad return to Heaven, which we never really left. ²The Son of God this day lays down his dreams. ³The Son of God this day comes home again, released from sin and clad in holiness, with his right mind restored to him at last. It was our choice to dream of specialness instead of living in the uniformity of Love. We have paid a steep price for this choice. It is not a price imposed by God. The feeling of lack, loss of Love, fear and guilt is solely of our own making.

In any moment we can make another choice. We need help with that choice because we have become so invested in the dream of specialness. We have that help now and in every moment. Our Creator gave us the Holy Spirit to speak to us of the truth that we never lost His blessing. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can remember that we share God’s will for our happiness and peace.

Today we welcome His help to accept the oneness of our will with our Creator’s. We have the choice to be free and know that we are Love.

We Live in the Safety of God’s Love

God is with me. I live and move in Him.

God is with me. ²He is my Source of life, the life within, the air I breathe, the food by which I am sustained, the water which renews and cleanses me. ³He is my home, wherein I live and move; the Spirit which directs my actions, offers me Its Thoughts, and guarantees my safety from all pain. ⁴He covers me with kindness and with care, and holds in love the Son He shines upon, who also shines on Him. ⁵How still is he who knows the truth of what He speaks today!

Father, we have no words except Your Name upon our lips and in our minds, as we come quietly into Your Presence now, and ask to rest with You in peace a while. (A Course in Miracles, W-222. See also ACIM Lesson 222 Insights.)

We live in God’s Love. His sure protection is with us always. He shares with us His strength, peace and joy.

The world we experience of conflict, competition, loss, guilt and fear is a dream that contradicts the Life we live in God. It is the ego dream that denies Love’s reality. It is not our life.

We can awaken to our real Life as we pause and step back to remember His Love and reclaim It as our own. As we let His Love grow stronger in our awareness, we bring His Light to the dream. We welcome His peace and the truth of the Life we live in God grows stronger. It wakens us gently from the ego’s dream. We remember we are safe in Love.

Serving as Love’s Messengers

Peace to my mind. Let all my thoughts be still.

Father, I come to You today to seek the peace that You alone can give. ²I come in silence. ³In the quiet of my heart, the deep recesses of my mind, I wait and listen for Your Voice. ⁴My Father, speak to me today. ⁵I come to hear Your Voice in silence and in certainty and love, sure You will hear my call and answer me.

Now do we wait in quiet. ²God is here, because we wait together. ³I am sure that He will speak to you, and you will hear. ⁴Accept my confidence, for it is yours. ⁵Our minds are joined. ⁶We wait with one intent; to hear our Father’s answer to our call, to let our thoughts be still and find His peace, to hear Him speak to us of what we are, and to reveal ItHimself unto His Son. It is always helpful to pause and rest in the peace of God. He gave us peace in our creation as His Son. Each time we pause to welcome His peace, we open our mind to receive the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love.

He helps us with Christ’s vision to see the Love that unites us with the truth in everyone. With this vision, conflict is dispelled. We feel the limitless support and strength God gives us.

We start the day taking a deep dive into the pool of God’s peace. We feel its quiet comfort. We know we are safe. We confident that we are guided. We trust that Love will lead us throughout the day.

As we go about our busy doings, we remember to frequently pause to touch the peace within. Thus we keep our mind open to the guidance of His Voice and serve as His messengers.
