Sharing Miracles

by Rev. Gail Hamley, O.M.C.

In Lesson 159: I give the miracles I have received, the message is about forgiveness and seeing with ‘Christ’s vision,’ which is our vision when we are in union with that part of ourselves that knows the Truth. I hold this lesson as a vision for my life because I have experienced so many miracles in my life. One of the miracles is to be in a position to share them with so many people through my work and friendships. I share two miracles here with you.

I Am Not the Ego

Rev. Ken Gorman, O.M.C.

Rev. Ken GormanEckhart Tolle has a great video that describes his sort of waking up experience. He indicated he was going through a lot of depression and darkness. One night he had a thought… ‘I can’t live with myself anymore.’ The next moment he had another thought and noticed… hey, there are two things here, something that can’t live with something else. In the video he says that is when everything collapsed.

Transformation

by Barbara Franco Adams

As part of my studies as a ministerial student, I was recently completing an exercise in the course, The Transforming Power of Trust. This particular section states the following:

“When we believe in the idea of having an identity that is separate from God (or Love), unconsciously we know we are rejecting our true Nature, which is openness with Love. The result is feeling guilty and unworthy because deep inside, we know we are secretly rejecting Love. When we don’t want to admit to ourselves that we are rejecting Love, dissociation and projection occurs. This means we dissociate from knowing our oneness in God and throw (or project) the guilt and unworthiness that accompanies this out on the world, looking for guilt in others.”

The Race

by Rev. Michael Graves, O.M.C.

Rev. Michael GravesIn the moments
just before the dawn
My sleepy gaze
fixed on the skies
The question comes,
Must I go on?

Oh yes! my Holy Guide replies
For all the things you came to do
And all the words you ache to say
Are not just for the little you
But the others in your life today

I Do Not Want to Hurt Myself Again Today

by Rev. Maria Kingsley, O.M.C.

Rev. Maria KingsleyIs there ever an end …?

So often I have sat down in the morning and let go of many different things during meditation and the daily tapping session my husband and I do regularly. Yes, I am blessed with a husband who also does the lessons, who practices the Course principles with himself and me, and who is experiencing our relationship as a holy one.

And we both pay attention to remember when we are not in joy or in peace: We make a note, whether mental or written (he does it on his phone), and bring it up the next morning to release it and see it differently.

For You Are My Brother in Christ

Gayla Monk

From my past
Came an awareness so strong
I needed to right a terrible wrong
For You are my Brother in Christ

For you see
I had a mistaken perception
That you had caused this deception
For You are my Brother in Christ

I now realize
I have created this projection
And placed on you my own reflection
For You are my Brother in Christ

Rev. Robert Thompson’s Complementary Retreat at “Bumpity Road”

by Rev. Robert Thompson, O.M.C.

Rev. Bob ThompsonHere’s a place where life is simple,
a truly rural country scene.
A place to rest and meditate,
so quiet and serene.

You may browse in summer gardens,
or help harvest in the fall,
watch the dancing snowflakes,
or, not do a thing at all.

Just you, yourself, that’s all you need,
you are all you have to bring,
to watch the leaves fall in the autumn,
and the grass grow in the spring.

Saying Yes to Spirit

by Rev. Larry Glenz, O.M.C.

Rev. Larry GlenzWhen turning to my Higher Power, I received a clear message — “Attraction rather than promotion.”

Almost four years ago I self-published my book Forgiving Kevin, a memoir of my son’s seven-year struggle with heroin. I started writing the book when Kevin was in his last and longest period of recovery. It was intended to be a true story about the All-American boy who fell into the depths of opiate addiction and recovered to help others overcome the disease of addiction. Kevin was in his ninth month of recovery when I started writing.

Then Kevin relapsed and succumbed to a fatal overdose. So many who knew our family could not imagine how such a fate could befall a young man with such promise and potential.

Nothing Is Happening but Love in the Present Moment

by Rev. Linda Wisniewski, O.M.C.

Rev. Linda WisniewskiI had an experience recently that showed me in a very concrete way that when I am in the present moment, in the Now and what the Course refers to as the Holy Instant, nothing is happening but Love and I am in a state of beingness, the essence of who I Am. It is very peaceful and joyful.

So, if I’m not peaceful, what is the problem? Is something or someone out there disturbing my peace of mind? Is it the hot, humid weather we get in the Midwest taking away my peace and my ability to have a good day? Does an argument with a loved one ruin my day? God’s Will for us is happiness. Is anyone out there responsible for me being happy, peaceful and content? Can anything in my life ruin my decision to be happy and have a good day?

Received in Love

by Rev. Michelle Rado, O.M.C.

Rev. Michelle RadoOnce upon a time, I trusted
that I was cared for.

As I came to a street corner,
My father’s hand would just appear
in front of me. Mine in his,
We walked across the street,
Navigating any obstacles
that came our way.

I didn’t question his lead.

Where to Begin?

by Rev. Myron Jones, O.M.C.

Rev. Myron JonesWhen students new to the Course come to me, they inevitably ask where to start. Back in the old days, when I thought I knew something, (not really that long ago, truth be told) I would tell them. What I told them, of course, was what I was guided to do, and what has my guidance to do with them? We each have the Holy Spirit within us to be our Guide and no one needs someone else to do that. We each have a specific path to follow and only the Holy Spirit knows what that is.

My Life’s Purpose

by Rev. Barbara Goodman Siegel, O.M.C.

Rev. Barbara Goodman SiegelA few days ago, my husband and I went to a local Waffle House restaurant. We discovered this little gem by accident and probably only went in because our daughter said how much her family enjoys going to Waffle House. Up until this latest encounter, we thought of it as an old, dirty, little truck stop.

On entering the restaurant, all the employees shouted out: “Good morning!” Wow! At what other restaurant do you walk in and get that kind of greeting? We sat in a booth and a sweet, young woman named Skye immediately came over to wait on us. The whole time we were there, Skye never lost the beautiful smile that had found her face.

Miracles 101

by Rev. Andrea Sassa Archuleta, O.M.C.

Rev. Andrea Sassa Archuleta“There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not “harder” or “bigger” than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal.”

“Miracles are natural. When they do not occur, something has gone wrong.” (T-1.I.1:1-3)

“Miracles are everyone’s right.” (T-1.I.7:1)

Well, What Exactly Is a Miracle?

I am asked this a lot when people know that I work with the text, A Course in Miracles. Some ask if the Course will teach them how to walk on water, or turn water into wine, maybe even part the sea. Now wouldn’t that be cool!

Helpting Each Other Home

by Maura Williams

Maura WilliamsIt’s never about what you’re doing. It’s never about your behavior. It’s always about your thoughts and sometimes it’s about what you’re not doing by doing whatever it is you are doing.

You can take just about any “bad” habit and apply this to it.

I often interrupt people when they talk. I think I know what they’re going to say and I’m afraid I’ll forget what I want to say, so I interrupt them and blurt out my comment.

Let’s look not a what I did that was so rude, but at what I didn’t do: I didn’t let them finish. I don’t know what they were going to say and now I probably won’t get to hear it, because I’ve hurt their feelings. But there’s more. In not letting them finish, I didn’t allow the Holy Spirit room to reply through me. My ego thought its agenda was more important and rushed in to “help” me. I don’t need this kind of help. It is not loving, it is not kind and it is not caring. It’s selfish, rude and unnecessary.
