How to Co-create with God

Creation is the sum of all God’s Thoughts, in number infinite, and everywhere without all limit. ²Only love creates, and only like itself. ³There was no time when all that it created was not there. ⁴Nor will there be a time when anything that it created suffers any loss. ⁵Forever and forever are God’s Thoughts exactly as they were and as they are, unchanged through time and after time is done.

Creation is the opposite of all illusions, for creation is the truth. ²Creation is the holy Son of God, for in creation is His Will complete in every aspect, making every part container of the whole.

We are creation; we the Sons of God. ²We seem to be discrete, and unaware of our eternal unity with Him. ³Yet back of all our doubts, past all our fears, there still is certainty. ⁴For love remains with all its Thoughts, its sureness being theirs. ⁵God’s memory is in our holy minds, which know their oneness and their unity with their Creator. ⁶Let our function be only to let this memory return, only to let God’s Will be done on earth, only to be restored to sanity, and to be but as God created us. We co-create with God when we join in extending His Love. Our true Self has never stopped creating, never stopped extending Love. But this world is the result of the ego’s wish to limit Love, to keep some for itself alone. This could never happen in truth. To remember our part in extending God’s Love, we must forgive—let go of—the wish for specialness.

The world we see of separate forms, separate places and separate times is a reflection of the ego’s attempt to limit Love. This is why forgiveness is the key to happiness. Joy is an aspect of God’s Love. We are only truly happy when we join in extending His Love.

While we seem to live in this world, our only meaningful function is to let go of our belief that anything in the world of separation has value. What truly has value can only be what is real—the Love of God. Today we ask the Holy Spirit’s help to see past the limited images of the world and join with the eternal extension of Love as co-creator with God.

We Are Blessed as We Share God’s Blessing

Your peace is with me, Father. I am safe.

Your peace surrounds me, Father. ²Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. ³It sheds its light on everyone I meet. ⁴I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. ⁵I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. ⁶Send them to me, my Father. ⁷Let me bring Your peace with me. ⁸For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

And so we go in peace. ²To all the world we give the message that we have received. ³And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us. It seems strange that we would ask God to bring us the fearful, lonely, hopeless and grieving. It is helpful to remember these represent opportunities for us to bring peace to those whom we perceive as “others.” These opportunities are gifts, for by sharing peace we know that we have peace. By extending Love we accept God’s gift of all His love.

Those whom we are called upon to bring peace are reflections of our own mistaken beliefs about our reality. As we answer the calls for peace and Love, we heal ourselves. When we accept God’s peace in our minds, we are receptive to the guidance of His Voice to bring the healing Light of Love to the world. We are blessed as we bring God’s blessings to the world. This is good day to practice.

The Choice for Heaven

There is a borderland of thought that stands between this world and Heaven. ²It is not a place, and when you reach it is apart from time. ³Here is the meeting place where thoughts are brought together; where conflicting values meet and all illusions are laid down beside the truth, where they are judged to be untrue. ⁴This borderland is just beyond the gate of Heaven. ⁵Here is every thought made pure and wholly simple. ⁶Here is sin denied, and everything that is received instead.

This is the journey’s end. ²We have referred to it as the real world. …⁵[Knowledge and perception] are brought together, and only one continues past the gate where oneness is. ⁶Salvation is a borderland where place and time and choice have meaning still, and yet it can be seen that they are temporary, out of place, and every choice has been already made.

Salvation stops just short of Heaven, for only perception needs salvation. ²Heaven was never lost, and so cannot be saved. ³Yet who can make a choice between the wish for Heaven and the wish for hell unless he recognizes they are not the same? ⁴This difference is the learning goal this course has set. When we choose to identify with the ego—believe we are a body—we are really choosing hell. The ego has cleverly disguised it as an appealing place where we can get what we want. We can be special, unique and have things nobody else has.

These things seem to make us happy. But if we are honest with ourselves, we realize that obtaining anything the ego offers never brings lasting happiness. That is why the world is a depressing place. This is a loveless world and lack of Love is depressing. Eventually we all reach a point where we realize this world is not what we really want.

This turning point makes us willing to reconsider our values. Now we are open to the Holy Spirit’s loving guidance that will teach us how to distinguish reality from illusion. We are open to the real world where we can learn how to bring our illusions to the truth where their nothingness is recognized.

Our journey now has a new purpose—to learn to differentiate between illusions and reality. This purpose leads us to the real world where we realize we only need to choose the truth. We need only to accept the oneness of Love as our Reality. This is the choice for Heaven.

How to Make Today Happy and Peaceful

Would you receive the messages of God? ²For thus do you become His messenger. ³You are appointed now. ⁴And yet you wait to give the messages you have received. ⁵And so you do not know that they are yours, and do not recognize them. ⁶No one can receive and understand he has received until he gives. ⁷For in the giving is his own acceptance of what he received.

²He needs our voice that He may speak through us. ³He needs our hands to hold His messages, and carry them to those whom He appoints. ⁴He needs our feet to bring us where He wills, that those who wait in misery may be at last delivered. ⁵And He needs our will united with His Own, that we may be the true receivers of the gifts He gives.

²I am among the ministers of God, and I am grateful that I have the means by which to recognize that I am free.

The world recedes as we light up our minds, and realize these holy words are true. ²They are the message sent to us today from our Creator. ³Now we demonstrate how they have changed our minds about ourselves, and what our function is. ⁴For as we prove that we accept no will we do not share, our many gifts from our Creator will spring to our sight and leap into our hands, and we will recognize what we received. We dwell in Love as Love. The Holy Spirit is feeding us God’s messages of Love 24/7. If we are not experiencing God’s Love it is because we are not sharing It. Love must be shared to be known.

The ego does not know how to share because it is the wish not to share. As long as we identify with the ego, we are unaware of God’s Love. We need to learn how to share because we have taught ourselves how not to share. God has given us His purpose—to share His Love without limit. The Holy Spirit will help us undo the limitation we have given ourselves. We do this by accepting His help to forgive the world for all we thought it was.

Forgiveness frees us to share God’s gift of Love. It undoes the barriers we have made against awareness of Love’s presence. As we forgive, the Light of Love becomes brighter in our world. The images of our world become less important as we experience the blessing that comes with letting God’s Love flow through us to everyone and everything. Happiness and peace come as we accept God’s Love by giving It. Let us make today a happy and peaceful day.

In Humility We Accept God’s Limitless Love

Let us today be truly humble, and accept what we have made as what it is. ²The power of decision is our own. ³Decide but to accept your rightful place as co-creator of the universe, and all you think you made will disappear. ⁴What rises to awareness then will be all that there ever was, eternally as it is now. ⁵And it will take the place of self-deceptions made but to usurp the altar to the Father and the Son.

…truth is humble in acknowledging its mightiness, its changelessness and its eternal wholeness, all-encompassing, God’s perfect gift to His beloved Son. ⁴We lay aside the arrogance which says that we are sinners, guilty and afraid, ashamed of what we are; and lift our hearts in true humility instead to Him Who has created us immaculate, like to Himself in power and in love.

³The power of decision is my own. ⁴This day I will accept myself as what my Father’s Will created me to be.

²God’s Voice will answer, for He speaks for you and for your Father. ³He will substitute the peace of God for all your frantic thoughts, the truth of God for self-deceptions, and God’s Son for your illusions of yourself. It is arrogant to believe that we are guilty. It is arrogant to believe that anyone is guilty. It is arrogant because we are telling ourselves that we are right and God is wrong about us. This is the denial of truth.

We are free to choose right now, in this instant, to accept that we remain as God created us. This thought terrifies the ego, for if it were without reservation, the ego would simply cease to seem to be. In its defense the ego tells us that if we accept what God has given us, we will lose our identity and we will cease to exist. To the extent that we believe the ego, we hang on to our belief in guilt.

But God has given us His Voice to teach us there is truly no justification for guilt. Our Teacher offers us lessons every day and every minute to show us what we thought has happened to justify guilt had no effect whatsoever. The Love of our true Self remains unchanged forever. As we accept our Teacher’s lessons, our sense of guilt diminishes. Our depression fades to be replaced by increasing joy and deeper states of peace.

We will let go of our arrogance today as we accept God’s gift of eternal Love to us as His beloved Son.

Willingness Is the Key to Salvation

The ego’s plan for salvation centers around holding grievances. ²It maintains that, if someone else spoke or acted differently, if some external circumstance or event were changed, you would be saved. ³Thus, the source of salvation is constantly perceived as outside yourself. ⁴Each grievance you hold is a declaration, and an assertion in which you believe, that says, “If this were different, I would be saved.” ⁵The change of mind necessary for salvation is thus demanded of everyone and everything except yourself.

²According to this insane plan, any perceived source of salvation is acceptable provided that it will not work.

God’s plan for salvation works simply because, by following His direction, you seek for salvation where it is. ²But if you are to succeed, as God promises you will, you must be willing to seek there only.

²Ask [God] very specifically:

³What would You have me do?
⁴Where would You have me go?
⁵What would You have me say, and to whom?

⁶Give Him full charge of the rest of the practice period, and let Him tell you what needs to be done by you in His plan for your salvation. ⁷He will answer in proportion to your willingness to hear His Voice. ⁸Refuse not to hear. Throughout the Course, willingness is emphasized as key to our awakening to Love. We experience this dream of separation because of our desire for specialness. This desire is in direct opposition to God’s Love extended equally to all. While we seek specialness, we are unwilling to share the joy and peace God shares with our true Self.

We need to honestly answer this question: “Has anything I have sought in the world brought me lasting happiness and peace?” Illusions last only as long as we believe they are real. It takes consistent effort to reinforce the mistaken belief in the reality of illusions. It takes no effort at all to accept the gift of Love God has already given. But it does take willingness to let go of the wish for specialness. How long must we search where lasting happiness and peace cannot be found? How long are we willing to endure depression and guilt for the temporary morsels of seeming happiness the ego offers?

Today we choose to practice asking God to guide us throughout the day. Our willingness will determine how happy and peaceful we are. With our willingness, we choose peace.

How to Hasten Our Journey Home

My home awaits me. I will hasten there.

If I so choose, I can depart this world entirely. ²It is not death which makes this possible, but it is change of mind about the purpose of the world. ³If I believe it has a value as I see [the world] now, so will it still remain for me. ⁴But if I see no value in the world as I behold it, nothing that I want to keep as mine or search for as a goal, it will depart from me. ⁵For I have not sought for illusions to replace the truth.

Father, my home awaits my glad return. ²Your Arms are open and I hear Your Voice. ³What need have I to linger in a place of vain desires and of shattered dreams, when Heaven can so easily be mine? (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 226, W-226. See also ACIM Lesson 226 Insights.)

We remain tethered to the world as long as we value anything in it. This is why it is so important that we recognize that all the forms in the world are illusions. We don’t value that we know is an illusion.

The curriculum of A Course in Miracles is designed to help us recognize illusions for what they are. We have so thoroughly convinced ourselves that we are a separate identity in a world we believe is real that we cannot simply let it go without resistance. The lessons of the Workbook and the understanding offered through the Text, Manual for Teachers and Clarification of Terms take us on a progressive journey of awakening.

This journey is accelerated as we are willing to welcome the Holy Spirit’s lessons in our mind. His lessons are highly specific to help us release our mistaken beliefs. In the world everyone is different with different beliefs which keep them bound to the world. So our Inner Teacher recognizes what we believe but does not buy into them.

Gradually we accept His lessons and learn that what we thought was valuable is really nothing. Having recognized the valueless, we become open to receive God’s gifts, which we never really lost. We hasten our journey to our Home in God’s Love.

As we learn the images of the world have no substance and can do nothing, we see more clearly beyond them to the Light of Love that is there to be seen with the vision of our true Self. Today we focus on our happy journey by remembering our mighty Companion who walks beside us as we accept the gift of Love that surrounds us and dwells in us.
