Accepting God’s Eternal Gifts

All things are given you. ²God’s trust in you is limitless. ³He knows His Son. ⁴He gives without exception, holding nothing back that can contribute to your happiness. ⁵And yet, unless your will is one with His, His gifts are not received. ⁶But what would make you think there is another will than His?

Here is the paradox that underlies the making of the world. ²This world is not the Will of God, and so it is not real.

Yet in his lonely, senseless wanderings, God’s gifts go with him, all unknown to him. ²He cannot lose them. ³But he will not look at what is given him. ⁴He wanders on, aware of the futility he sees about him everywhere, perceiving how his little lot but dwindles, as he goes ahead to nowhere. ⁵Still he wanders on in misery and poverty, alone though God is with him, and a treasure his so great that everything the world contains is valueless before its magnitude.

³One walks with you Who gently answers all your fears with this one merciful reply, “It is not so.” ⁴He points to all the gifts you have each time the thought of poverty oppresses you, and speaks of His Companionship when you perceive yourself as lonely and afraid.

⁴Be witness in your happiness to how transformed the mind becomes which chooses to accept His gifts, and feel the touch of Christ. (W-166.1:1–2:2;5;11:3-4;15:4)

We have a mighty Companion, Whose sole purpose is to teach us that this dream is not real. We already have all that we need. We are wholly loved and eternally united with the Source of Love. The gift given by our Creator includes all His strength, peace and joy. As we accept our Companion’s lessons, we know we are eternally safe, invulnerable to any images in the dream.

What God gives is given eternally. His strength is ours with His guarantee. It can be helpful to remind ourselves when our peace is disturbed: “God is with me. His strength and Love are mine. I am safe. I rest in His peace.” With this reminder, we ask the Holy Spirit for His vision to help us see the truth beyond the dream.

Learning to See Past Illusions to Truth

It is sin’s unreality that makes forgiveness natural and wholly sane, a deep relief to those who offer it; a quiet blessing where it is received. ²It does not countenance illusions, but collects them lightly, with a little laugh, and gently lays them at the feet of truth. ³And there they disappear entirely.

Forgiveness is the only thing that stands for truth in the illusions of the world. ²It sees their nothingness, and looks straight through the thousand forms in which they may appear. ³It looks on lies, but it is not deceived.

The strength of pardon is its honesty, which is so uncorrupted that it sees illusions as illusions, not as truth. ²It is because of this that it becomes the undeceiver in the face of lies; the great restorer of the simple truth. ³By [pardon’s] ability to overlook what is not there, it opens up the way to truth, which has been blocked by dreams of guilt. ⁴Now are you free to follow in the way your true forgiveness opens up to you. ⁵For if one brother has received this gift of you, the door is open to yourself. Our perception of the world is fully in our control. The world we see is a projection of the beliefs we have accepted for ourselves. We have all experienced that beliefs can change. This ability to change our beliefs means we are not locked in to the dream of fear and guilt.

We always have the ability to change our mind. The appearance of a world we cannot control is the ego’s trick to make us believe we are lost in the dream. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can learn to see with Christ’s vision. His vision overlooks appearances to see the eternal truth in everyone and everything. It sees that only Love is real.

When we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to see with the eyes of Christ, forgiveness is natural. An illusion recognized for what it is, is easily dismissed. Today we welcome the presence of our holy Comforter. His Love surrounds us and clears away false perceptions to see the Love that unites us with our Creator and Reality. In this recognition we will bless our brothers, who are one with us.

Our Journey into Light

This course is a beginning, not an end. ²Your Friend goes with you. ³You are not alone. ⁴No one who calls on Him can call in vain. ⁵Whatever troubles you, be certain that He has the answer, and will gladly give it to you, if you simply turn to Him and ask it of Him. ⁶He will not withhold all answers that you need for anything that seems to trouble you. ⁷He knows the way to solve all problems, and resolve all doubts. ⁸His certainty is yours. ⁹You need but ask it of Him, and it will be given you.

²Henceforth, hear but the Voice for God and for your Self when you retire from the world, to seek reality instead. ³He will direct your efforts, telling you exactly what to do, how to direct your mind, and when to come to Him in silence, asking for His sure direction and His certain Word. ⁴His is the Word that God has given you. ⁵His is the Word you chose to be your own.

And now I place you in His hands, to be His faithful follower, with Him as Guide through every difficulty and all pain that you may think is real.

³You will be told exactly what God wills for you each time there is a choice to make. ⁴And He will speak for God and for your Self, thus making sure that hell will claim you not, and that each choice you make brings Heaven nearer to your reach. (A Course in Miracles, W-ep.1;3:2–4:1;5:3-4)

We are on a journey of a lifetime. It leads us to awareness that in truth, we are timeless, eternally at one with God. We have a Guide to lead us to our awakening. The path seems to wander because we have been following a guide that does not know the truth of What we are. It leads us through myriad illusions that go nowhere and accomplish nothing.

But God has given us a Guide Whose function is to lead us to Reality. His message is that we are Love and nothing else. He offers us correction of the misguided paths we have followed. As we follow God’s Voice, we learn to see past the false images to the Light of Love in which we live and have our being. This journey without distance leads us from darkness to Light, from fear to Love.

We are grateful that we have been given the means to awaken to the Self God created as His Son.

The Lesson That Returns Us to Heaven

God is my strength. Vision is His gift.

The idea for today combines two very powerful thoughts, both of major importance. ²It also sets forth a cause and effect relationship that explains why you cannot fail in your efforts to achieve the goal of the course. ³You will see because it is the Will of God. ⁴It is His strength, not your own, that gives you power. ⁵And it is His gift, rather than your own, that offers vision to you.

God is indeed your strength, and what He gives is truly given. ²This means that you can receive it any time and anywhere, wherever you are, and in whatever circumstance you find yourself. ³Your passage through time and space is not at random. ⁴You cannot but be in the right place at the right time. ⁵Such is the strength of God. ⁶Such are His gifts.

²The idea for the day is a beginning step in bringing thoughts together, and teaching you that you are studying a unified thought system in which nothing is lacking that is needed, and nothing is included that is contradictory or irrelevant. God’s gift of vision has nothing to do with the body’s eyes. The body’s eyes are the ego’s substitute “gift” to entice us to see and believe separation is real. This seeing only sees barriers to Love’s presence. God’s gift sees only the oneness of Love everywhere.

The body’s eyes also show us that we are vulnerable to attack and need to plan for our safety. Yet God has given us His strength. There is no real opponent to His strength. Only the ego’s images of separation seen through the body’s eyes seem to show us that there is a strength we need to protect ourselves from. The ego projects this image onto God and tells us we must fear God; we must fear Love.

Now we are being shown that all of God’s strength and Love are ours. That is His Will. We remain united with Him eternally in all of His Love. This lesson, fully learned, will bring us Home to the Love and safety of Heaven in God.

Our Need to Remember Love

Today I let Christ’s vision look upon all
things for me and judge them not, but
give each one a miracle of love instead.

So would I liberate all things I see, and give to them the freedom that I seek. ²For thus do I obey the law of love, and give what I would find and make my own. ³It will be given me, because I have chosen it as the gift I want to give. ⁴Father, Your gifts are mine. ⁵Each one that I accept gives me a miracle to give. ⁶And giving as I would receive, I learn Your healing miracles belong to me.

Our Father knows our needs. ²He gives us grace to meet them all. ³And so we trust in Him to send us miracles to bless the world, and heal our minds as we return to Him. (A Course in Miracles, W-349. See also ACIM Lesson 349 Insights.)

When we react to what images we perceive in the world do, we are imprisoning ourselves. We can only perceive separate images if we believe we are separate. This process of projected perception keeps us locked into a false world of separation.

Christ’s vision offers us a different way of seeing. It does not use the body’s eyes. Christ’s vision comes from our true Self, which shares the Mind of God. This vision shows us the presence of Love everywhere, always.  As we see past form to Love’s presence, we receive the gift of Love and naturally extend It to the world.

This is our calling, our vocation. For each of us the form Love’s true perception takes in the world is customized to our need to remember the Love we are. The way to accept Love is to forgive our mistaken beliefs in separation. Today we call upon Christ’s vision to see the forgiven world, where Love shines in all. We happily join in the receiving and giving of Love.

Learning to See Our Holiness in Our Brothers

My holy Self abides in you, God’s Son.

Father, You gave me all Your Sons, to be my saviors and my counselors in sight; the bearers of Your holy Voice to me. ²In them are You reflected, and in them does Christ look back upon me from my Self. ³Let not Your Son forget Your holy Name. ⁴Let not Your Son forget his holy Source. ⁵Let not Your Son forget his Name is Yours.

This day we enter into Paradise, calling upon God’s Name and on our own, acknowledging our Self in each of us; united in the holy Love of God. ²How many saviors God has given us! ³How can we lose the way to Him, when He has filled the world with those who point to Him, and given us the sight to look on them? Everyone is my savior when seen with Christ’s vision. This is because Christ’s vision shows us the one Self we all share. This Self has all God’s attributes — wholly loving, innocent and eternal.

If we do not receive healing messages from a brother, it is because we are not accepting the messages the one Self we share with him is sending to us. Forgiveness is the way to let go of the interference that blocks messages of Love and holiness that are constantly sent to us.

The gift of holiness is already ours. To claim it, we ask the Holy Spirit for His help to see with Christ’s vision. With His help, we will set aside the mistaken perceptions the ego offers. We will let true perception show us our brothers, who are one with us.

Being a Co-creator with Love

The test of everything on earth is simply this; “What is it for?” ²The answer makes it what it is for you. ³It has no meaning of itself, yet you can give reality to it, according to the purpose that you serve.

A co-creator with the Father must have a Son. ²Yet must this Son have been created like Himself. ³A perfect being, all-encompassing and all-encompassed, nothing to add and nothing taken from; not born of size nor place nor time, nor held to limits or uncertainties of any kind. ⁴Here do the means and end unite as one, nor does this one have any end at all. ⁵All this is true, and yet it has no meaning to anyone who still retains one unlearned lesson in his memory, one thought with purpose still uncertain, or one wish with a divided aim.

⁵It is essential it be kept in mind that all perception still is upside down until its purpose has been understood. ⁶Perception does not seem to be a means. ⁷And it is this that makes it hard to grasp the whole extent to which it must depend on what you see it for. ⁸Perception seems to teach you what you see. ⁹Yet it but witnesses to what you taught. ¹⁰It is the outward picture of a wish; an image that you wanted to be true.

…it is given you to make a different choice, and use perception for a different purpose. ¹³And what you see will serve that purpose well, and prove its own reality to you. (A Course in Miracles, T-24.VII.6:1-3;7;8:5-10;11:12-13. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The purpose of everything the ego makes in the world is to reinforce the perceived reality of separation. When we ask of everything, “What is it for?” we need to acknowledge whether its purpose is to reinforce belief in separation or recognize Love’s oneness. This distinction is the key to remembering our true Self as co-creator with God. All true Creation is extension of Love. Any thought of limitation denies Love and supports separation.

Today can be an important day in the process of healing our mind. As we question the purpose of everything we perceive, and let the Holy Spirit show us the truth, we open our mind to Love. Every perception has the potential, if seen truly, to bring us remembrance of our true Self as God’s one Son. Our true Self remains forever united in Love with Its Source. Today will be a happy day of healing.
