Receiving a Day of Grace

Beyond this world there is a world I want.
I choose to see that world instead of this,
for here is nothing that I really want.

Today the lights of Heaven bend to you, to shine upon your eyelids as you rest beyond the world of darkness. Here is light your eyes can not behold. And yet your mind can see it plainly, and can understand. A day of grace is given you today, and we give thanks. This day we realize that what you feared to lose was only loss.

Now do we understand there is no loss. For we have seen its opposite at last, and we are grateful that the choice is made. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 129, W-pI.129.7:3-4;8:1-9:2. See also ACIM Lesson 129 Insights.)

As we are willing to see the world as Holy Spirit sees it, we receive a day of grace… As we join with the Holy Spirit through the day, we are able to see the unity of God’s Love, instead of the separation and division found in the ego’s thought system… We are able to see Holy Spirit’s purpose for everything we are led to be involved with… We ask of everything, “What is it for?” and the Holy Spirit shows us how we can be truly helpful in every situation…

With Holy Spirit’s guidance, we are able to rise above to see the Love… As we practice staying connected with Holy Spirit, we receive all we need to know when we need to know it… We remember we are being carried and that every circumstance brings us the perfect opportunities for mind healing for ourselves and our brothers.

With Holy Spirit’s help we are able to see past time to the eternal present and remember that only Love is real… As we practice receiving Holy Spirit’s inspiration all through the day, we are filled with a sense of peace, safety and remembering that we are all immersed in God’s Love… And for this we give thanks.

Tapping into the Peace Within

Hear, holy Son of God, your Father speak. His Voice would give to you His holy Word, to spread across the world the tidings of salvation and the holy time of peace. We gather at the throne of God today, the quiet place within the mind where He abides forever, in the holiness that He created and will never leave.

Today He speaks to you. His Voice awaits your silence, for His Word can not be heard until your mind is quiet for a while, and meaningless desires have been stilled. Await His Word in quiet. There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 125, W-pI.125.4,6. We are unaware of God’s Voice speaking to us while we are wrapped up in the chaos of the world. Though we may be preoccupied with functioning in the world, we have the means within our mind to open the door to God’s Voice.

There is a peace in us we can call upon to help us quiet our mind so we can reach the inner stillness where God’s Voice is heard. To connect with this peace we must make the decision in the moment to interrupt the attention we have focused on the world and step back. Then ask the peace within to carry us to the stillness where God’s Voice abides.

Peace is already in our mind to be called upon for help. We need only be willing to give it our attention. As we redirect our attention, we receive the inspiration and vision we need to see a changed world, a loving world. In this state we become God’s teacher and help to bring salvation to the world.

Our Journey to Our Home in Love

The overlooking of the battleground is now your purpose.

Be lifted up, and from a higher place look down upon it. From there will your perspective be quite different. Here in the midst of it, it does seem real. Here you have chosen to be part of it. Here murder [separation] is your choice. Yet from above, the choice is miracles instead of murder. And the perspective coming from this choice shows you the battle is not real, and easily escaped. Bodies may battle, but the clash of forms is meaningless. And it is over when you realize it never was begun.”

Think what is given those who share their Father’s purpose, and who know that it is theirs. They want for nothing. Sorrow of any kind is inconceivable. Only the Light they Love is in awareness, and only love shines upon them forever. It is their past, their present and their future; always the same, eternally complete and wholly shared. They know it is impossible their happiness could ever suffer change of any kind. Perhaps you think the battleground can offer something you can win. Can it be anything that offers you a perfect calmness, and a sense of love so deep and quiet that no touch of doubt can ever mar your certainty? And that will last forever? The world appears to be in constant conflict because it is a projection of the idea of opposition to oneness. What is divided must conflict. As long as we identify with the belief in separation, forms of conflict and war will be our experience. Yet our experience is based on belief in what could never be real.

This is good news. What is not real cannot really limit us nor harm us. Release from this fearful world requires only that we withdraw our belief in what is not true. Forgiveness is the means to free us from belief in limitation and separation, which makes us blind to reality.

That is why we need the Holy Spirit, our “seeing eye dog,” to lead us out of the darkness. We need only be willing to follow the Guide Whose purpose is to lead us to the Light of Love. Each time we bring our perceptions to the Holy Spirit to receive His correction, we take a step forward in our willingness to return to the Home of peace and happiness and Love. In gratitude we continue our journey.

Opening Our Mind to Love’s Correction

Today we try to understand the truth that giver and receiver are the same. You will need help to make this meaningful, because it is so alien to the thoughts to which you are accustomed. But the Help you need is there. Give Him your faith today, and ask Him that He share your practicing in truth today.”

“…seek sanctuary in the quiet place where thoughts are changed and false beliefs laid by. Repeat [“All that I give is given to myself”], and ask for help in understanding what it really means. Be willing to be taught. Be glad to hear the Voice of truth and healing speak to you, and you will understand the words He speaks, and recognize He speaks your words to you.”

“Do not let your mind forget this goal for long, but tell yourself:

All that I give is given to myself. The Help I need to learn
that this is true is with me now. And I will trust in Him.

Then spend a quiet moment, opening your mind to His correction and His Love. And what you hear of Him you will believe, for what He gives will be received by you. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 126, W-pI.126.8:1-4;10:1-4;11:2-7. See also ACIM Lesson 126 Insights.)

When we see or think of someone we love, our hearts are filled with joy and we reach out to them with a warm embrace. This is but a tiny taste of how our Creator feels about us, who He knows are one with Him.

When we offer the gift of true forgiveness to a brother, we remove the barrier to the experience of the same Love and joy that our Creator feels about us. Forgiveness dissolves the illusion of division so that we can see the truth that we are indeed one with every brother. With that clear vision of the Holy Spirit, we naturally offer love and joy to our brother and simultaneously experience it in ourselves. We experience the gift we give.

Awareness of Our Unity in Love

There is nothing outside you. That is what you must ultimately learn, for it is the realization that the Kingdom of Heaven is restored to you. For God created only [the Kingdom of Heaven], and He did not depart from It, nor leave It separate from Himself. The Kingdom of Heaven is the dwelling place of the Son of God, who left not his Father, and dwells not apart from Him. Heaven is not a place nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect Oneness, and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this Oneness, and nothing else within.

You can stretch out your hand and reach to Heaven. You whose hand is joined with your brother’s have begun to reach beyond the body, but not outside yourself, to reach your shared Identity together. Could This be outside you? Where God is not? Is He a body, and did He create you as He is not, and where He cannot be? You are surrounded only by Him. What limits can there be on you whom He encompasses?” (T-18.VI.1,10)

In Heaven we are aware that we share one Identity… As we open to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing, we become aware of the Light of Love that is in every brother… As we open to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing, we become aware that the same Light of Love is what we are…

As this awareness of our shared Identity grows within our mind, we are filled with a sense of peace because conflict has disappeared. The ego’s belief in differences is dissolved. We are able to easily see past differences to the universal Love That is everywhere.

As we continue to practice opening our mind to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing, we are filled with gratitude for the truth that we reside in Heaven always, even though the body’s eyes show us something different. We are able to see the world anew. We are able to see that we are totally immersed in Love. We remember that we are safe, we are innocent, are loved, we are at Home in God’s Love.

Valuing Our Connection with Holy Spirit

Your Self retains Its Thoughts, and they remain within your mind and in the Mind of God. The Holy Spirit holds salvation in your mind, and offers it the way to peace. Salvation is a thought you share with God, because His Voice accepted it for you and answered in your name that it was done. Thus is salvation kept among the Thoughts your Self holds dear and cherishes for you.

We will attempt today to find this thought, whose presence in your mind is guaranteed by Him Who speaks to you from your one Self. Our hourly five-minute practicing will be a search for Him within your mind. Salvation comes from this one Self through Him Who is the Bridge between your mind and It. Wait patiently, and let Him speak to you about your Self, and what your mind can do, restored to It and free to serve Its Will.

Begin with saying this:

Salvation comes from my one Self. Its Thoughts are mine to use.

Then seek Its Thoughts, and claim them as your own. These are your own real thoughts you have denied, and let your mind go wandering in a world of dreams, to find illusions in their place. Here are your thoughts, the only ones you have. Salvation is among them; find it there. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 96, W-pI.96.7-9. See also ACIM Lesson 96 Insights.)

Today we dedicate to listening to the Holy Spirit… We dedicate today to receiving and extending Holy Spirit’s peace… We focus on letting ourselves be guided throughout the day…

We let the Holy Spirit bring us inspiration… We come back throughout the day and listen, giving Holy Spirit time in quiet listening… We let ourselves feel Holy Spirit’s gratitude for our continuous joining throughout the day…

We feel so grateful that we have a constant Companion Who is dedicated to helping us every step of the day as we go through each day… We value this connection above all else.

The Gift of Union

The holy instant is truly the time of Christ. For in this liberating instant no guilt is laid upon the Son of God, and his unlimited power is thus restored to him. What other gift can you offer me, when only this [union] I choose to offer you? And to see me is to see me in everyone, and offer everyone the gift [of union] you offer me.

We who are one [in the Christ Mind] cannot give separately. When you are willing to accept our relationship [oneness] as real, guilt will hold no attraction for you. For in our union you will accept all of our brothers. The gift of union is the only gift that I was born to give. Give [union] to me, that you may have it. The time of Christ is the time appointed for the gift of freedom, offered to everyone. And by your acceptance of [freedom/union], you have offered it to everyone. Freedom is the gift of union. If we want to be free of the ego’s imprisoning thought system, we need to forgive and see our unity with God and all our brothers.

We are here to reverse our thoughts of separation and join with the Holy Spirit’s recognition of our union. In truth we are one Light; there is no distance between us. We are one Love in the one Mind of Love. As we are willing to join with the reality of our union instead of separation, we find our freedom and help free every brother along with us.

The gift of union is the only gift we want to receive from the Holy Spirit and give to every brother. This returns us to the holy instant — the time of Christ. Instead of experiencing the fear, guilt and hate found in the ego’s thought system, we return to the peace, joy and Love found in the Truth of our union with God.

Today we focus on the reality of our union in God’s Love.
