The Intention That Brings Us Peace

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.

It is quite possible to listen to God’s Voice all through the day without interrupting your regular activities in any way. ²The part of your mind in which truth abides is in constant communication with God, whether you are aware of it or not.

The part that is listening to the Voice for God is calm, always at rest and wholly certain. ²It is really the only part there is. ³The other part is a wild illusion, frantic and distraught, but without reality of any kind. ⁴Try today not to listen to it. ⁵Try to identify with the part of your mind where stillness and peace reign forever. ⁶Try to hear God’s Voice call to you lovingly, reminding you that your Creator has not forgotten His Son.

Listen in deep silence. ²Be very still and open your mind. ³Go past all the raucous shrieks and sick imaginings that cover your real thoughts and obscure your eternal link with God. ⁴Sink deep into the peace that waits for you beyond the frantic, riotous thoughts and sights and sounds of this insane world. ⁵You do not live here. ⁶We are trying to reach your real home. ⁷We are trying to reach the place where you are truly welcome. ⁸We are trying to reach God.

…be sure to sit quietly and repeat the idea for today whenever you can, closing your eyes on the world, and realizing that you are inviting God’s Voice to speak to you. (A Course in Miracles, W-49.1:1-2;2;4;5:3. See also ACIM Lesson 49 Insights.)

There is a part of us that is in constant communication with our Father. It never sleeps. But we have buried this part under the constant chatter of the ego, keeping us preoccupied with maintaining the seeming reality of individuality and separate bodies.

We have the means to direct our attention to the Voice that speaks to us of our Home in perfect peace, joy without limit and oneness in eternal Love. This access begins with willingness to become aware of the center of stillness within. The more we practice focusing on this quiet center, the more easily we will open our mind to listen to this Voice.

In quietness, we welcome the message of our oneness in Love. We see past the dream figures and recognize the Light that illuminates our mind with the truth that we are Love eternally. When we start the day with this intention, and practice pausing frequently throughout the day, we will experience a day of happiness and peace.

Remembering Our Unity in God’s Love

⁴If you remain as God created you fear has no meaning, evil is not real, and misery and death do not exist.

²All this has not occurred, if you remain as God created you. ³You need no thought but just this one, to let redemption come to light the world and free it from the past.

In this one thought is all the past undone; the present saved to quietly extend into a timeless future. ²If you are as God created you, then there has been no separation of your mind from His, no split between your mind and other minds, and only unity within your own.

The healing power of today’s idea is limitless. ²It is the birthplace of all miracles, the great restorer of the truth to the awareness of the world. ³Practice today’s idea with gratitude. ⁴This is the truth that comes to set you free. ⁵This is the truth that God has promised you. ⁶This is the Word in which all sorrow ends. This is a central message of A Course in Miracles. The full acceptance of this ideal will awaken us from the dream of separation. We will know that we are united in the oneness of God’s Love.

A way to remind ourselves of this idea is to say to ourselves when we see or think of someone: “You are as God created you. I am as God created me. We are one in His Love.”

Answering Love’s Call

In you there is no separation, and no substitute can keep you from your brother. ²Your reality was God’s creation, and has no substitute. ³You are so firmly joined in truth that only God is there. ⁴And He would never accept something else instead of you. ⁵He loves you both, equally and as one.

You have been called, together with your brother, to the most holy function this world contains. ²It is the only one that has no limits, and reaches out to every broken fragment of the Sonship with healing and uniting comfort. ³This is offered you, in your holy relationship. ⁴Accept it here, and you will give as you have accepted. ⁵The peace of God is given you with the glowing purpose in which you join with your brother. ⁶The holy light that brought you and him together must extend, as you accepted it. We are all called to recognize that we are one with every brother in God’s Love. This is our Reality. This is a call to see beyond the body, which the ego uses to hide our Reality. Beyond the body, and all the images of separation in the world, is the unity of Love. In this unity there is perfect peace, for there are no differences to disturb us. In this oneness, there is joy beyond words, for it contains the eternal giving and receiving of Love.

Each time we forgive, we set aside a barrier to our awareness of Love’s presence. Today we practice pausing to center on the peace within and answer the call to see the Love in our brothers.

Letting Love Be Our Inspiration

There is a light that this world cannot give. ²Yet you can give it, as it was given you. ³And as you give it, it shines forth to call you from the world and follow it. ⁴For this light will attract you as nothing in this world can do. ⁵And you will lay aside the world and find another. ⁶This other world is bright with love which you have given it. ⁷And here will everything remind you of your Father and His holy Son. ⁸Light is unlimited, and spreads across this world in quiet joy. ⁹All those you brought with you will shine on you, and you will shine on them in gratitude because they brought you here. ¹⁰Your light will join with theirs in power so compelling, that it will draw the others out of darkness as you look on them.

Awaking unto Christ is following the laws of love of your free will, and out of quiet recognition of the truth in them. ²The attraction of light must draw you willingly, and willingness is signified by giving. ³Those who accept love of you become your willing witnesses to the love you gave them, and it is they who hold it out to you. ⁴In sleep you are alone, and your awareness is narrowed to yourself. ⁵And that is why the nightmares come. ⁶You dream of isolation because your eyes are closed. ⁷You do not see your brothers, and in the darkness you cannot look upon the light you gave to them. The body’s eyes are part of the illusion of separation, which denies Love’s oneness. They cannot see the truth in our brothers. But we have Christ’s vision in our mind which sees only the Love that is the true Identity of everyone. The Love that is our true Self gives love freely to all. This Love is reflected back to us, reminding us of our true Identity. We receive what we give.

Today we ask that Love be our Guide. We want Love to be our inspiration in our thoughts, words and actions.

Remembering We Rest in God’s Love

We ask for rest today, and quietness unshaken by the world’s appearances. ²We ask for peace and stillness, in the midst of all the turmoil born of clashing dreams. ³We ask for safety and for happiness, although we seem to look on danger and on sorrow.

“I rest in God.” ²This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the happiness you seek. ³“I rest in God.” ⁴This thought has power to wake the sleeping truth in you, whose vision sees beyond appearances to that same truth in everyone and everything there is. ⁵Here is the end of suffering for all the world, and everyone who ever came and yet will come to linger for a while. ⁶Here is the thought in which the Son of God is born again, to recognize himself. Let this be our mantra today: I rest in God. It reminds us that our Identity is in God. We are not a body capable of harming or being harmed. This statement states that we are Love because God is Love. To rest in Him is to rest in the peace and happiness assured by our Father’s gift of all His Love.

To all our perceptions that disturb our peace, we remember that we rest in the Love of God.

Accepting Help to See Love’s Oneness

²To forgive is to overlook. ³Look, then, beyond error and do not let your perception rest upon it, for you will believe what your perception holds. ⁴Accept as true only what your brother is, if you would know yourself. ⁵Perceive what he is not and you cannot know what you are, because you see him falsely. ⁶Remember always that your Identity is shared, and that Its sharing is Its reality.

²You do not understand how to overlook errors, or you would not make them. ³It would merely be further error to believe either that you do not make them, or that you can correct them without a Guide to correction. ⁴And if you do not follow this Guide, your errors will not be corrected. ⁵The plan is not yours because of your limited ideas about what you are. ⁶This sense of limitation is where all errors arise. ⁷The way to undo them, therefore, is not of you but for you.

The Atonement is a lesson in sharing, which is given you because you have forgotten how to do it. ²The Holy Spirit merely reminds you of the natural use of your abilities. ³By reinterpreting the ability to attack into the ability to share, He translates what you have made into what God created. The fact that we believe we are a body demonstrates that we do not know our true Identity. We do not know the way out of our misperceptions on our own. The thought system that we have embraced denies our reality. Therefore we cannot find our way to truth from a thought system that denies it.

To remember our true Identity, we need a Guide to lead us out of the thought system that denies truth. Every hour of every day we have an opportunity to accept the help of our Inner Teacher. The practice of pausing to welcome peace into our mind opens the door to receive the vision that overlooks error. This vision recognizes the Love we share with all.

Accepting the Warm Embrace of God’s Love

You can stretch out your hand and reach to Heaven. ²You whose hand is joined with your brother’s have begun to reach beyond the body, but not outside yourself, to reach your shared Identity together. ³Could this be outside you? ⁴Where God is not? ⁵Is He a body, and did He create you as He is not, and where He cannot be? ⁶You are surrounded only by Him. ⁷What limits can there be on you whom He encompasses?

Everyone has experienced what he would call a sense of being transported beyond himself.… ³It is a sense of actual escape from limitations. ⁴If you will consider what this “transportation” really entails, you will realize that it is a sudden unawareness of the body, and a joining of yourself and something else in which your mind enlarges to encompass it.… ⁷What really happens is that you have given up the illusion of a limited awareness, and lost your fear of union. ⁸The love that instantly replaces it extends to what has freed you, and unites with it. ⁹And while this lasts you are not uncertain of your Identity, and would not limit It. ¹⁰You have escaped from fear to peace, asking no questions of reality, but merely accepting it. ¹¹You have accepted this instead of the body, and have let yourself be one with something beyond it, simply by not letting your mind be limited by it. Our true Self abides in the Love of God. Being all encompassing, this Love keeps us safe. It keeps us united with our Father. No matter what dreams may come into our mind, this unity is unaffected. While we identify with the body, we cannot know the grandeur of our Identity as God’s Son. This is why the Course emphasizes the idea that we are not a body, we are still as God created us.

Today we pause and let Christ’s vision show us the reality of Love beyond the body. His vision looks past all conflict and differences to the Light of Love we all share. In this Light, dreams of differences and individuality diminish and the warm embrace of God’s Love grows stronger.
