Hastening Our Journey to Freedom

Let me not be Your critic, Lord, today, and judge against You. ²Let me not attempt to interfere with Your creation, and distort it into sickly forms. ³Let me be willing to withdraw my wishes from its unity, and thus to let it be as You created it. ⁴For thus will I be able, too, to recognize my Self as You created me. ⁵In love was I created, and in love will I remain forever. ⁶What can frighten me, when I let all things be exactly as they are?

Let not our sight be blasphemous today, nor let our ears attend to lying tongues. ²Only reality is free of pain. ³Only reality is free of loss. ⁴Only reality is wholly safe. ⁵And it is only this we seek today. (A Course in Miracles, W-268.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 268 Insights.)

Our safety lies in the fact that God created us one with Himself. Nothing exists outside the Love that He is. Only Love is real, so nothing exists that can affect His Love.

Beliefs make perception of reality. Thus hallucinations can seem very real and very threatening. But belief does not make reality. It can only make illusions. All things that seem to threaten us are only showing us our mistaken beliefs. The path to freedom from vulnerability of lack and loss is forgiveness of what makes the perceptions.

Our Creator has given us His Voice to guide us on the path to freedom from mistaken beliefs. We hear His Voice when we pause and welcome the peace that It offers. Today we hasten our journey to freedom by frequently pausing to welcome Holy Spirit in our mind. His answers to our fears remind us that we remain one with our Creator, perfectly safe in the oneness of His Love.

Willingness to Accept God’s Love

When you made visible what is not true, what is true became invisible to you. ²Yet it cannot be invisible in itself, for the Holy Spirit sees it with perfect clarity. ³It is invisible to you because you are looking at something else. ⁴Yet it is no more up to you to decide what is visible and what is invisible, than it is up to you to decide what reality is. ⁵What can be seen is what the Holy Spirit sees. ⁶The definition of reality is God’s, not yours.

Because of your Father’s Love you can never forget Him, for no one can forget what God Himself placed in his memory. ²You can deny it, but you cannot lose it. ³A Voice will answer every question you ask, and a vision will correct the perception of everything you see. ⁴For what you have made invisible is the only truth, and what you have not heard is the only Answer. ⁵God would reunite you with yourself, and did not abandon you in your distress. ⁶You are waiting only for Him, and do not know it. ⁷Yet His memory shines in your mind and cannot be obliterated. ⁸It is no more past than future, being forever always.

…the memory of God can dawn only in a mind that chooses to remember, and that has relinquished the insane desire to control reality. (A Course in Miracles, T-12.VIII.3:1-6;4;5:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

To truly know reality, we must relinquish the wish to control it. The ego calls this surrender. But it is really the choice for truth over illusion. The memory of God’s Love has stayed with us through all the conflict and chaos the ego has introduced in its wish to have something to keep as its own.

The quest to acquire could only occur in a mind that believes it has less than everything. Yet God gave all of Himself, which is all that is real, when He created us as His Son. When we are willing to consider that we do not know what our perceptions mean, we become open to the memory of the eternal Love that is ours now and forever.

The willingness to accept Holy Spirit’s loving correction for our misperceptions opens the veil to welcome the brilliant Light of Love that is our true environment. We offer this willingness to the Holy Spirit today.
