Our Real Identity Is Spirit

You are the spirit lovingly endowed with all your Father’s Love and peace and joy. You are the spirit which completes Himself, and shares His function as Creator. He is with you always, as you are with Him. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.97.2:2-4)

If we want to experience God’s gifts of Love and peace and joy, we must dis-identify with the body and form as our identity. Our real Identity is Spirit. To know the gifts of Spirit, we must identify with the truth of What we are. Spirit has no limits. Spirit is all that is real. By Its very nature, Spirit is joined with all that is Real. Nothing outside of Spirit exists. As we accept Spirit as What we are, we know our invulnerability, for we know there is nothing outside us that could bring harm.

If any circumstance or thought or seeming memory disturbs our peace, it is a sure sign that we are identifying with a false image and denying the Spirit we are. It is time to step back from that false identity and turn to the Holy Spirit in our mind for help to accept our real Identity. The Holy Spirit remembers for us that we are Spirit, one Self, united with our Creator. As we open our hearts and minds to receive Holy Spirit’s healing lessons, we are taught to recognize the false images for what they are. Once these false images are recognized, they are easily laid down. We open our minds to the recognition of our Self.

Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts today. Help me to recognize the false thoughts and see past them. Give me Your strength when I mistakenly believe in weakness. Wrap me in Your Love when I am believing I am in a loveless world. Help me to see the reality of Love that is ever present.

God Is the Strength in Which We Trust

Because we were created of God and remain in God, God is our only strength. God is our only reality because we remain in the Mind of God as we were created.

As we become willing to return Home to our true Reality, we are led to the awareness of Truth… As we let the door be opened to the Light of our reality as universal Love, we see the world differently… Our trust in truth becomes stronger; our trust in illusions diminishes…

We reside in a peaceful state of mind and are more likely to laugh at fear thoughts than to take them seriously… Our patience is strong… We remember that the Love we are cannot be threatened.… We cannot lose and we cannot be harmed by all the thoughts the ego mind comes up with… God is the strength in which we trust…

Our Prayer of Release from the Ego

Holy Spirit, I no longer want to equate myself with the ego with all its guilt and fear. I want to remember that I am Love as Love created me. Help me to see with Your vision the Love that is beyond all the images of the world.

Help me to see beyond the words and behaviors of bodies in the world to see the innocence of every brother. Help me let go of beliefs in vulnerability, limitation, lack and guilt from the past. I am willing to let them go.

I am willing to accept God’s gifts of Love and peace and joy, which are ever present, now. It is these gifts I would give today and receive the gift in return of the certainty that God’s gifts of perfect happiness, deep peace and limitless Love are mine. Amen.

Giving and Receiving the Peace of God — Now

The peace of God is shining in you now, and from your heart extends around the world. [The peace of God] pauses to caress each living thing, and leaves a blessing with it that remains forever and forever. What [the peace of God] gives must be eternal. [The peace of God] removes all thoughts of the ephemeral and valueless. [The peace of God] brings renewal to all tired hearts, and lights all vision as it passes by. All of its gifts are given everyone, and everyone unites in giving thanks to you who give, and you who have received. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.188.3)

Today we will reinforce our practice of receiving and extending the peace of God… As we receive this all-important gift from our Source, clarity and understanding come with it… Our artificial values are purified… We feel Love’s blessings wash through us… We remember we are connected as one mind… We remember that we are extending the blessings we receive… and as we give, the blessings continue to come back to us…

As we continue this practice through the day, we feel so blessed… We realize we are accepting our Inheritance… We are putting God first… We are putting Love first in the present moment… We are letting Love’s messengers return messages of Love back to us… We rest in gratitude as we continue to give and receive the peace of God in each now moment…

Receiving Love’s Messages

Love’s messengers are gently sent, and return with messages of love and gentleness. The messengers of fear are harshly ordered to seek out guilt….

The Holy Spirit has given you love’s messengers to send instead of those you trained through fear. They are as eager to return to you what they hold dear as are [fear’s messengers]. If you send [love’s messengers] forth, they will see only the blameless and the beautiful, the gentle and the kind. They will be as careful to let no little act of charity, no tiny expression of forgiveness, no little breath of love escape their notice. And they will return with all the happy things they found, to share them lovingly with you. Be not afraid of them. They offer you salvation. Theirs are the messages of safety, for they see the world as kind. (A Course in Miracles, T-19.IV.A.11:1-2;14:1-8)

Holy Spirit, we accept your messengers of Love… In gratitude, we open to receive all the happy things they find… We openly welcome their messages of Love and kindness… We remember that as we look for the Love in others, we find it in them and in ourselves… In deep thankfulness we move through the day, seeking and finding the Love that is the truth about everyone… Oh happy day!

Opening to the Quiet Mind

In quietness are all things answered, and is every problem quietly resolved.

Yet it must also be that, in your state of mind, solution is impossible. Therefore, God must have given you a way of reaching to another state of mind in which the answer is already there. Such is the holy instant. It is here that all your problems should be brought and left. (A Course in Miracles, T-27.IV.1:1;2:2-5)

Today our practice is to consistently open to the quiet Mind of the Holy Spirit… The Holy Spirit is not fooled by the fearful antics of the ego mind. The Holy Spirit knows how to return our minds to the Truth.

As we practice consistently opening our minds to receive the Holy Spirit’s inspiration in the moment, we are led to lasting and eternal happiness… We are led to help everyone be brought to the same state of mind… For this consistent Help we are eternally grateful.

Seeing Through the Eyes of the Holy Spirit

I would let the door behind this world be opened for me, that I may look past it to the world that reflects the Love of God.

God is still everywhere and in everything forever. And we who are part of Him will yet look past all appearances, and recognize the truth beyond them all. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.56.3:4;4:5-6)

It is our belief in the thought system of separation that keeps the door closed to the world beyond and prevents us from seeing beyond to the World of Love. We need help from beyond our belief system to open that door. This is why we need to bring all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit with willingness to let Him open the door to what lies beyond — the world of Love, safety and joy.

The moment by moment practice of putting Holy Spirit in charge of all our perceptions is how we let our mistaken beliefs be transformed. Holy Spirit’s vision shows us what is real and what is not… When we recognize the unreal for what it is, we naturally let it go… Illusions recognized have no value to us.

Our dedication today is to let the Holy Spirit, our true Self, be our Interpreter in each moment. This is how we let the door to the World of Love be opened for us.
