A Place of Real Safety

Mary:
This morning in our reading of A Course in Miracles, this is what stood out to me: “…reach down into your mind to a place of real safety. You will recognize that you have reached it if you feel a sense of deep peace, however briefly. Let go all the trivial things that churn and bubble on the surface of your mind, and reach down and below them to the Kingdom of Heaven. There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.” (W-pI.47.7)

This is my opportunity for today. I have a choice. I can hold on to all the fearful thoughts that pass through my mind, or I can choose to look at them with Holy Spirit and let them pass by. The world holds nothing that I want. The peace of God that is always there for me is not a little gift. The opportunity before me today is to accept the gift of God and feel the real strength in me. God is my strength. Vision is His gift. As I accept God’s gift, the veil is lifted and I see the world differently. Here there is joy. Here there is peace. Here there is God’s Light of unity.

Fear thoughts may come and go, but thank God I have the means by which to know that I am free. And every brother is free with me.

Robert:
The Course says that the Holy Spirit sees the illusions we see, but does not believe them. That is why He is my Teacher to learn not to believe what the body’s eyes show me. When all illusions are recognized for what they are, there is no cause for fear. There is no cause for guilt. There is no cause for anger. Without belief in illusions, there is perfect safety. This is what I want to recognize. I want to share Holy Spirit’s perception of all appearances. I want to share His certainty that I remain as God created me.

I still forget this during the day, but I have had glimpses of Holy Spirit’s vision. And the happiness and peace I experience in those glimpses motivates me to keep practicing. I want to see with forgiving eyes. I want to remember that I remain as God created me and have not left His presence.
