Our Special Function

Robert:
Today we read the ACIM Text, Chapter 25, Section VI: The Special Function. It reminded me that I really have only one meaningful purpose while I seem to be in the world: To forgive, to see all appearances as the Holy Spirit sees.

To do this I must be willing to give up my own interpretations of all appearances and let Holy Spirit be my interpreter of everything. Thus any time that I recognize my peace is disturbed, I have been given a gift. I “open” the gift by turning over my interpretation to the Holy Spirit with a willingness to receive His interpretation in its place. This gift is always offered and depends only my willingness to receive it to experience it as mine. God’s Love is mine because it is given to everyone without exception.

So today is a day to practice accepting the gifts that are offered me in each moment by being vigilant for peace and willing to step aside from my own interpretations to make way for Holy Spirit’s vision to fill my mind.

Mary:
It is becoming clear as I continue to let the message of A Course in Miracles sink in deeper and deeper, that my job is to let the Holy Spirit show me the truth. In order to do this I must step back from what I think I know. I must pause and listen. I must want to see as Holy Spirit sees. I must want to return to the truth. It is this desire to let the veil of specialness be lifted that brings the eternal truth to me.

The Holy Spirit waits with infinite patience for my willingness. The Holy Spirit knows that the Christ is all there is to see. The Holy Spirit knows that no one has really made a separate self that is special and alone. The Holy Spirit does not believe in the ego’s stories of separate bodies that are born and die. The Holy Spirit knows that we are all Love’s extension, and I know this as I am willing to let the truth be returned to me. This is my only job today — to be open to awareness of Christ’s Oneness, which includes everyone.
