Releasing the Wish for Separation

The happy dreams the Holy Spirit brings are different from the dreaming of the world, where one can merely dream he is awake. ²The dreams forgiveness lets the mind perceive do not induce another form of sleep, so that the dreamer dreams another dream. ³His happy dreams are heralds of the dawn of truth upon the mind. ⁴They lead from sleep to gentle waking, so that dreams are gone. ⁵And thus they cure for all eternity.

Atonement heals with certainty, and cures all sickness. ²For the mind which understands that sickness can be nothing but a dream is not deceived by forms the dream may take. ³Sickness where guilt is absent cannot come, for it is but another form of guilt. ⁴Atonement does not heal the sick, for that is not a cure. ⁵It takes away the guilt that makes the sickness possible. ⁶And that is cure indeed. ⁷For sickness now is gone, with nothing left to which it can return.

²We will be still and listen for the Voice of healing, which will cure all ills as one, restoring saneness to the Son of God. ³No voice but this can cure. ⁴Today we hear a single Voice which speaks to us of truth, where all illusions end, and peace returns to the eternal, quiet home of God. The Holy Spirit sees all forms of sickness as the same. They are just different forms of the ego thought of separation. They are equally unreal, for only Love is real. Love has no form.

When we listen to the Voice for God, It will always guide us to recognition of Love’s Reality, beyond the ego dreams of form. The Holy Spirit leads us to forgiving dreams in which we have released our loyalty to the wish for separation.

As we accept His lead, we find the peace and joy of God restored to our holy mind. We awaken to the Love we are.

Willingness to Return to Love

You do not know the meaning of love, and that is your handicap. ²Do not attempt to teach yourself what you do not understand, and do not try to set up curriculum goals where yours have clearly failed.

³Resign now as your own teacher. ⁴This resignation will not lead to depression. ⁵It is merely the result of an honest appraisal of what you have taught yourself, and of the learning outcomes that have resulted. ⁶Under the proper learning conditions, which you can neither provide nor understand, you will become an excellent learner and an excellent teacher. ⁷But it is not so yet, and will not be so until the whole learning situation as you have set it up is reversed.

Your learning potential, properly understood, is limitless because it will lead you to God. ²You can teach the way to Him and learn it, if you follow the Teacher Who knows the way to Him and understands His curriculum for learning it. ³The curriculum is totally unambiguous, because the goal is not divided and the means and the end are in complete accord. ⁴You need offer only undivided attention. ⁵Everything else will be given you. ⁶For you really want to learn aright, and nothing can oppose the decision of God’s Son. ⁷His learning is as unlimited as he is. We have unlimited potential to learn what God would have us learn. The key to learning these lessons is to follow the Teacher Who knows what would work for us as seeming individuals. We have followed an ignorant teacher and accepted beliefs that have convinced us that we are limited and vulnerable to an outside world. This is the identity we have accepted with this teacher. This is why we must resign as our own teacher.

In truth we are the Love of God. As we are willing to follow God’s Teacher instead of our own, we will find the way back Home to Love. The key to learning these lessons is willingness to pay attention to His Teacher.

An early lesson in the Course teaches us that we do not know what anything means. Accepting this important fact helps us resign as our own teacher and be willing to accept the lessons God’s Teacher offers us. Today we are willing to open our mind to the lessons in Love that will return us to Love.

A Practice That Resolves Our Problems

³When the Holy Spirit has at last led you to Christ at the altar to His Father, perception fuses into knowledge because perception has become so holy that its transfer to holiness is merely its natural extension. ⁴Love transfers to love without any interference, for the two are one. ⁵As you perceive more and more common elements in all situations, the transfer of training under the Holy Spirit’s guidance increases and becomes generalized. ⁶Gradually you learn to apply it to everyone and everything, for its applicability is universal. ⁷When this has been accomplished, perception and knowledge have become so similar that they share the unification of the laws of God.

What is one cannot be perceived as separate, and the denial of the separation is the reinstatement of knowledge. …³Very gently does God shine upon Himself, loving the extension of Himself that is His Son. ⁴The world has no purpose as it blends into the purpose of God. ⁵For the real world has slipped quietly into Heaven, where everything eternal in it has always been. ⁶There the Redeemer and the redeemed join in perfect love of God and of each other. ⁷Heaven is your home, and being in God it must also be in you. The ego sees problems in myriad forms. It tells us each problem needs to be solved in a different way. It does not tell us that the underlying source of the problem is belief in separation. With this belief removed, all problems disappear. What remains is the eternal, changeless Love of God.

While we seem to exist in the dream of separation, we need to call upon the Holy Spirit for His perception of every problem. His perception will always lead us toward the recognition that only Love is real. His lessons are specific to our perceived problems. They teach us to see beyond the appearance to the Reality of Love.

As we learn these valuable lessons, we begin to see what we’ve learned generalize. Increasingly we recognize the reality of Love beyond the appearance. The perception of a problem is generalized as meaningless. As we let our lessons generalize, we feel the blessing of God’s Love strengthen. We feel His support.

Today we continue the practice of asking the Holy Spirit for His perception to replace our own. It’s worth the effort, for It will bring us Home to Love.

Letting Holy Spirit Lead Us Home

This day is God’s. It is my gift to Him.

I will not lead my life alone today. ²I do not understand the world, and so to try to lead my life alone must be but foolishness. ³But there is One Who knows all that is best for me. ⁴And He is glad to make no choices for me but the ones that lead to God. ⁵I give this day to Him, for I would not delay my coming home, and it is He Who knows the way to God.

And so we give today to You. ²We come with wholly open minds. ³We do not ask for anything that we may think we want. ⁴Give us what You would have received by us. ⁵You know all our desires and our wants. ⁶And You will give us everything we need in helping us to find the way to You. The Holy Spirit is our best Friend. We can count on Him to lead our disordered mind to awaking to its unity with the Mind of God. We need only be willing to follow His lead.

We start by acknowledging that on our own, we do not know what is in our best interests. Our choice to believe we are a body in this dream has led to unhappiness, fleeting moments of comfort yet fear of what lies ahead. This choice has denied our unity with God.

Today we choose to let the Holy Spirit decide everything on our behalf. We are assured that the Holy Spirit will lead us Home, where our true Self has always rested in the Heart of Love.

Becoming Willing to Accept God’s Love

Deny not Heaven. ²It is yours today, but for the asking.

Ask with desire. ²You need not be sure that you request the only thing you want. ³But when you have received, you will be sure you have the treasure you have always sought.

Now is all doubting past, the journey’s end made certain, and salvation given you. ²Now is Christ’s power in your mind, to heal as you were healed. ³For now you are among the saviors of the world. ⁴Your destiny lies there and nowhere else. ⁵Would God consent to let His Son remain forever starved by his denial of the nourishment he needs to live? ⁶Abundance dwells in him, and deprivation cannot cut him off from God’s sustaining Love and from his home. Our true Self lives in God’s Love. It is nourished by the unending flow of His Love. While we dream of separation and lack of Love, our true Self’s only desire is to be the Love It was created to be.

In the dream we search for the Love that seems to be missing. This search is driven by our true Self that desires to be remembered as our true Identity. In the dream we can ask for help to remember God’s Love. Our request will be answered to the degree we are willing to accept God’s Love.

Today we are willing to let the Holy Spirit heal our fear-based thoughts. Thus will we welcome God’s answer and awaken to our true Self.

The Path for Awakening to Love

³The holy instant is this instant and every instant. ⁴The one you want it to be it is. ⁵The one you would not have it be is lost to you. ⁶You must decide when it is. ⁷Delay it not. ⁸For beyond the past and future, where you will not find it, it stands in shimmering readiness for your acceptance. ⁹Yet you cannot bring it into glad awareness while you do not want it, for it holds the whole release from littleness.

Your practice must therefore rest upon your willingness to let all littleness go. ²The instant in which magnitude dawns upon you is but as far away as your desire for it. ³As long as you desire it not and cherish littleness instead, by so much is it far from you. ⁴By so much as you want it will you bring it nearer. ⁵Think not that you can find salvation in your own way and have it. ⁶Give over every plan you have made for your salvation in exchange for God’s. ⁷His will content you, and nothing else can bring you peace. ⁸For peace is of God, and no one beside Him.

The necessary condition for the holy instant does not require that you have no thoughts that are not pure. ²But it does require that you have none that you would keep. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.IV.1:3–9;2;9:1-2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

While we identify with the body and the ego thought system, we are choosing limitation and littleness. Our true Self remains one with God, our Creator. We share His magnitude, His limitless Love, His peace and joy.

The price we pay for the wish for littleness is a dream filled with fear and guilt. It is a dream of suffering and loss. Within the dream, safety, happiness and Love only seemingly occur in fleeting moments. Circumstances can change in an instant. By the grace of God, we are not locked into this dream. We awaken from the dream when we let go of our own plans for our safety and happiness.

We have the means to awaken from the dream. The first step is to be willing to turn over all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His interpretation. He will show us the Love and the calls for Love. He will help us answer the calls for Love with Love. As we accept His help, we will learn that we are the Love we seek. We will experience the peace and happiness that Love brings.

Welcoming Our Reality as Love

You are entitled to miracles because of what you are. ²You will receive miracles because of what God is. ³And you will offer miracles because you are one with God. ⁴Again, how simple is salvation! ⁵It is merely a statement of your true Identity. ⁶It is this that we will celebrate today.

Today we will claim the miracles which are your right, since they belong to you. ²You have been promised full release from the world you made. ³You have been assured that the Kingdom of God is within you, and can never be lost.

…remind yourself that you are asking only for what is rightfully yours. ³Remind yourself also that miracles are never taken from one and given to another, and that in asking for your rights, you are upholding the rights of everyone. ⁴Miracles do not obey the laws of this world. ⁵They merely follow from the laws of God.

²Tell yourself often today:

³I am entitled to miracles.

²Be quick to tell yourself, should you be tempted:

³I will not trade miracles for grievances. ⁴I want only what belongs to me. ⁵God has established miracles as my right. (A Course in Miracles, W-77.1;3:1-3;4:2-5;7:2-3;8:2-5. See also ACIM Lesson 77 Insights.)

A miracle could be described as a transformation of our perception from seeing differences to seeing the oneness of Love. In this dream we need miracles because we have taught ourselves that separation and differences are real. But we are entitled to have this perception transformed.

As an extension of God’s Love, our very existence is Love and nothing else. Any judgments we make on our own deny our Reality; deny the Love we are.

As we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to let go of our grievances, we welcome the miracle. We welcome Love in place of fear and guilt.
