Learning Holy Spirit’s Lessons of Happiness and Peace

If you would be a happy learner, you must give everything you have learned to the Holy Spirit, to be unlearned for you. And then begin to learn the joyous lessons that come quickly on the firm foundation that truth is true. For what is builded there is true, and built on truth. The universe of learning will open up before you in all its gracious simplicity. With truth before you, you will not look back. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.II.6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Love is truth. The attributes of Love are joy and peace. In this world of form we all are seeking Love, happiness and peace. Yet these cannot be found in this world because this world is the denial of the oneness of Love.

The Course is teaching us that we have been given the means in our minds to find the Love that cannot be found in the world. The practice of bringing all that we have learned in this world to the Holy Spirit and letting Him undo these mistaken lessons is the path to Love, joy and peace. It is the way out of the dream of fear, guilt and death.

We choose today to walk with Holy Spirit as our Guide in all our doing, that we may learn His loving lessons of happiness and peace.

In Peace We Extend Love to the World

We look past dreams today, and recognize that we need no defense because we are created unassailable, without all thought or wish or dream in which attack has any meaning. Now we cannot fear, for we have left all fearful thoughts behind. And in defenselessness we stand secure, serenely certain of our safety now, sure of salvation; sure we will fulfill our chosen purpose, as our ministry extends its holy blessing through the world.

Be still a moment, and in silence think how holy is your purpose, how secure you rest, untouchable within its light. God’s ministers have chosen that the truth be with them. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.153.9:1-10:2. See also ACIM Lesson 153 Insights.)

Today we practice opening to receive God’s peace… We let all tension fall away… We let go and let God… We listen and receive… We remember that dreams of separation are not true and only God’s world of oneness is true… We remember we are changeless Love as everyone is… We let peace lead us today and let the awareness that comes through receiving God’s peace heal our minds today… We are safe in God’s Love and we extend Love to the world…

We Are Not Bodies. We Are Still Love as God Created Us

Jesus tells us to ask of everything, “What is this for? What is its purpose?” The Course tells us that the body is a communication device. It is a tool to be used and then laid aside when its use is over. In this world we have identified with the body and mistaken the body as what we are. We have made the body our identity, which is weak, vulnerable and dies. Believing this is not a sin. It is just a mistaken idea to be undone. There is no need for guilt.

When we cease to believe that the body is what we are, all sense of vulnerability disappears. We no longer have anything to defend. Limitation falls away. We are no longer confined to a little space made up of a few cubic feet of flesh and bones. We no longer need to spend all of our time caring for this thing we think we are, trying to make it look pretty and appealing and sheltering it with status symbols in an attempt to give value to the body. Recognizing the body as wholly neutral means we are free to let the Holy Spirit use it for His purpose, which is to bring forgiveness to the dream. Used for His purpose, there is no fear nor guilt. It is used solely to offer the gift of forgiveness everywhere.

What is the body for? The ego and the Holy Spirit have totally different responses. As we grow in our desire to serve only Holy Spirit’s purposes, the body becomes a wholly neutral thing. It becomes a communication device to be used to help in remembering the truth that we are all still the same extension of Love that resides in the Mind of God. With Holy Spirit I See the World Differently

How can I know who I am when I see myself as under constant attack? Pain, illness, loss, age and death seem to threaten me. All my hopes and wishes and plans appear to be at the mercy of a world I cannot control. Yet perfect security and complete fulfillment are my inheritance. I have tried to give my inheritance away in exchange for the world I see. But God has kept my inheritance safe for me. My own real thoughts will teach me what it is.

The world I see holds my fearful self-image in place, and guarantees its continuance. While I see the world as I see it now, truth cannot enter my awareness. I would let the door behind this world be opened for me, that I may look past it to the world that reflects the Love of God.

God is still everywhere and in everything forever. And we who are part of Him will yet look past all appearances, and recognize the truth beyond them all. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.56.1:2-8;3:2-4;4:5-6. See also ACIM Lesson 56 Insights.)

In our practice for today we consistently step back and let the Holy Spirit show us the truth behind illusions of separation. We let Holy Spirit show us the Love of God, which is eternally present. We let ourselves be shown the truth that we are still Perfect Love, as God created us.

We are Love. We are peace. We are joy forever. With Holy Spirit as our Guide, we see the world differently.

Serving Spirit Brings Peace and Joy

Spirit makes use of mind as means to find its Self expression. And the mind which serves the spirit is at peace and filled with joy. Its power comes from spirit, and it is fulfilling happily its function here. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.96.4:1-3. See also ACIM Lesson 96 Insights.)

When we identify with the ego, we inevitably feel powerless because the ego is the belief in being separate from the Source of all power. The ego is always defensive because of its sense of weakness. It is always seeking happiness but never finds lasting happiness because it believes it is separate from the Source of happiness.

There is another way. We can redirect our minds to the Spirit of Oneness, the Holy Spirit, Which remembers that we are already united with the Source of all strength and perfect happiness. As we are willing to let the Holy Spirit guide all our doing, our activities in the world will always lead us to remembering the strength and joy that come from our true Self, the Self united with all Creation. This is our practice for today.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Happy Dream

Today it will be given you to feel a touch of Heaven, though you will return to paths of learning. Yet you have come far enough along the way to alter time sufficiently to rise above its laws, and walk into eternity a while. This you will learn to do increasingly, as every lesson, faithfully rehearsed, brings you more swiftly to this holy place and leaves you, for a moment, to your Self.

Today we will embark upon a course you have not dreamed of. But the Holy One, the Giver of the happy dreams of life, Translator of perception into truth, the holy Guide to Heaven given you, has dreamed for you this journey which you make and start today, with the experience this day holds out to you to be your own.

Into Christ’s Presence will we enter now, serenely unaware of everything except His shining face [of innocence] and perfect Love. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.157.3,8,9:1. See also ACIM Lesson 157 Insights.)

In Holy Spirit’s happy dream, He shows us the innocence that lies beyond perceptions of separation… He shows us our brothers’ holiness beyond the stories of the world… As we practice accepting the truth beyond the dreams of individuality, we see innocence everywhere… We see holiness everywhere… We feel the truth of Love’s Presence… We feel immersed in Love… We give this Love to everyone we meet and feel the joy of giving…

All this comes with the decision to accept Holy Spirit’s happy dream of Love’s oneness instead of the ego’s dream of separation. In this practice we find our freedom and share it with the world.

My Prayer of Accepting Love’s Gentleness and Patience

Love, I surrender to Your gentle and patient care. I let go of my perceptions of a past. I let go of my perceptions of a future. I accept only Your eternal Loving Presence.

I have no need to plan for my safety. My needs are provided for continuously in Your gentle and patient care.

I let go of all I thought the world was. I let go of what I thought my brothers were. I give back to You all I thought was mine alone.
