We Would See Only Love Today

Let this day be a day of stillness and of quiet listening. Your Father wills you hear His Word today. He calls to you from deep within your mind where He abides. Hear Him today. No peace is possible until His Word is heard around the world; until your mind, in quiet listening, accepts the message that the world must hear to usher in the quiet time of peace.

This world will change through you. No other means can save it, for God’s plan is simply this: The Son of God is free to save himself, given the Word of God to be his Guide, forever in his mind and at his side to lead him surely to his Father’s house by his own will, forever free as God’s. He is not led by force, but only love. He is not judged, but only sanctified. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 125, W-pI.125.1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 125 Insights.)

We would let Love guide us today. We ask the Holy Spirit’s help with all our perceptions that we may see the truth beyond the images and events. We turn over all our interpretations, the meaning we give to the world, to Him Who remembers for us what is true and what is false. We remember we do not know of ourselves. We trust that with kindness and gentleness, the Holy Spirit will lead us out of false perception to see the Love that is ever present in all our brothers and ourselves. With Holy Spirit’s help we would see only Love today.

We Have a Partner in Awakening

God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

This Self alone knows Love. This Self alone is perfectly consistent in Its Thoughts; knows Its Creator, understands Itself, is perfect in Its knowledge and Its Love, and never changes from Its constant state of union with Its Father and Itself.

Let us raise our hearts from dust to life, as we remember this [Self] is promised us, and that this course was sent to open up the path of light to us, and teach us, step by step, how to return to the eternal Self we thought we lost.

I take the journey with you. For I share your doubts and fears a little while, that you may come to me who recognize the road by which all fears and doubts are overcome. We walk together. I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. We have a Partner and Friend on our journey of awakening. This Partner always has our best interest in mind and wants to help us free ourselves from the false beliefs that bring us fear, pain and guilt. This Partner understands what we are experiencing. It does not believe in the false beliefs that cause our experience.

With this understanding this Partner is compassionate, patient and steadfast in offering us the help we need to turn away from the dream of separation and walk along the way to our true Home, where we, too, will remember we are Love and nothing else.

Today we will remind ourselves often to turn to our compassionate Partner for strength and understanding to help us let go of the false ideas we do not really want. We will journey Home together.

Receive Peace… Extend Peace…

How holy are you who have the power to bring peace to every mind! How blessed are you who can learn to recognize the means for letting this be done through you! What purpose could you have that would bring you greater happiness?

You are indeed the light of the world with such a function. The Son of God looks to you for his redemption. It is yours to give him, for it belongs to you. Accept no trivial purpose or meaningless desire in its place, or you will forget your function and leave the Son of God in hell. This is no idle request that is being asked of you. You are being asked to accept salvation that it may be yours to give. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 63, W-pI.63.1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 63 Insights.)

Today we focus on our willingness to receive God’s peace… We soften and let it heal all tension… We ask to see through Holy Spirit’s eyes… We quiet our minds and listen… With His help we forgive the world for all we thought it was… We receive and give God’s universal Love… We receive and give God’s universal peace… We remember God’s Son is one God’s universal Love…

Learning the Lesson That We Are Love

The Christ in you remembers God with all the certainty with which He knows His Love. But only if His Son is innocent can He be Love.… God’s perfect Son remembers his creation. But in guilt he has forgotten what he really is.

The fear of God results as surely from the [ego’s] lesson that His Son is guilty as God’s Love must be remembered when he learns his innocence. For hate must father fear, and look upon its father as itself. How wrong are you who fail to hear the call that echoes past each seeming call to death, that sings behind each murderous attack and pleads that love restore the dying world. You do not understand Who calls to you beyond each form of hate; each call to war. Yet you will recognize Him as you give Him answer in the language [of Love] that He calls. He will appear when you have answered Him, and you will know in Him that God is Love. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.I.9:3-4,6-7;10. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The world appears to be full of bigotry and judgment, fear and attack, terrorism and murder. All these have one thing in common. They are all calls for Love coming from minds that believe in lack of Love.

Each of us has an opportunity to teach ourselves that God is Love and so are we. To learn this lesson we need to ask the Holy Spirit’s help to see past all the forms that seem to call for defense to recognize the call for Love as it is. With the Holy Spirit’s help we can answer that call for Love with Love.

As we can recognize the terrorist as a brother who has lost awareness that he already has and is God’s Love, we can help by offering him the vision of Christ that sees past the outer appearance to the innocence and Love he is. As we practice this, we learn we already have God’s Love by giving It.

Letting Go of Disturbances to Our Peace of Mind

Perhaps we are now ready for a day of undisturbed tranquility. If this is not yet feasible, we are content and even more than satisfied to learn how such a day can be achieved. If we give way to a disturbance, let us learn how to dismiss it and return to peace. We need but tell our minds, with certainty, “The stillness of the peace of God is mine,” and nothing can intrude upon the peace that God Himself has given to His Son. Any time our peace of mind is disturbed, it’s a sure sign that we are believing in the ego thought system of separation. We are believing in a false idea that could never be true. Fortunately we have an antidote to help us correct this mistaken belief.

The moment we recognize that we are disturbed in any way, we need to redirect our attention to the Voice for God within. By reminding ourselves, “The stillness of the peace of God is mine,” we are telling ourselves to turn away from the false idea and opening our minds to correction. With a receptive mind we can be shown the peace that lies beyond the disturbance, the Love that is beyond the fear, the joy that is beyond the sadness of this world.

This practice is the path that leads us to our true Home in Love.

Count Your Blessings, Instead of Your Burdens

You cannot walk the world apart from God, because you could not be without Him. He is what your life is. Where you are He is. There is one life. That life you share with Him. Nothing can be apart from Him and live.

This is the way salvation works. As you step back, the light in you steps forward and encompasses the world.… In lightness and in laughter is sin [separation/guilt] gone, because its quaint absurdity is seen. It is a foolish thought, a silly dream, not frightening, ridiculous perhaps, but who would waste an instant in approach to God Himself for such a senseless whim? God has given us all of Himself — all His Love, all His peace, all His joy. How great is that! There can be no greater blessing.

In the world of separation, God’s blessing is so obscured by the chaos and unreliability of the ego thought system that we are unaware of the blessings we already have. Yet if we look for the blessings, there are signs even in the world that show the blessings we are already given. A store clerk helps us find what we need. A passer by smiles. We receive inspiration that solves a perceived problem out of the blue.

As we acknowledge the blessings that come our way through the day with gratitude, our attention is withdrawn from perceived problems. We stop reinforcing the sense of lack that makes separation seem real, and we strengthen our recognition that we have blessings all the time. These blessings remind us that we have indeed been given all of God’s blessing. Our sense of peace increases. We are happier and more kind. Life shifts from being a burden to an opportunity to bless and be blessed throughout the day.

Letting the Veil of Illusion Be Lifted

Those who would let illusions be lifted from their minds are this world’s saviors, walking the world with their Redeemer, and carrying His message of hope and freedom and release from suffering to everyone who needs a miracle to save him.

How easy is it to offer this miracle to everyone! No one who has received it for himself could find it difficult. For by receiving it, he learned it was not given him alone. Such is the function of a holy relationship; to receive together and give as you received. Standing before the veil, it still seems difficult. But hold out your hand, joined with your brother’s, and touch this heavy-seeming block, and you will learn how easily your fingers slip through its nothingness. It is no solid wall. And only an illusion stands between you and your brother, and the holy Self you share together. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.IV.6:5-7:8. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The Holy Spirit is teaching us that we share one holy Self. Today we practice letting the Holy Spirit lift us above the battleground of separate identities. With Holy Spirit we see past images of separate bodies to the one Love that we share eternally. We are filled with gratitude, peace and joy as we consistently let illusions be lifted from our mind. We happily join with every brother and see our oneness. We see that we are one Light and that there is no distance between us. This is how we spend our day.
