Seeing Past Dreams of Guilt to Innocence

Condemn and you are made a prisoner. Forgive and you are freed. Such is the law that rules perception.… To condemn is… impossible in truth. What seems to be its influence and its effects have not occurred at all. Yet must we deal with them a while as if they had. Illusion makes illusion. Except one. Forgiveness is illusion that is answer to the rest.

Only my condemnation injures me.
Only my own forgiveness sets me free.

Do not forget today that there can be no form of suffering that fails to hide an unforgiving thought. Nor can there be a form of pain forgiveness cannot heal.

Accept the one illusion which proclaims there is no condemnation in God’s Son, and Heaven is remembered instantly; the world forgotten, all its weird beliefs forgotten with it, as the face of Christ appears unveiled at last in this one dream. Because Love is one and cannot change, everyone is included in God’s Love. In Reality everyone is innocent, because the only truth about everyone is that they are one with God’s Love.

This world of being separate from God’s Love comes from the mistaken idea that we could separate from God, or be different from God. This false premise creates illusions of separate bodies that can harm or be harmed. None of this is true or has ever happened in truth. Only in illusions could it have the appearance of happening.

Forgiveness brings us back to the truth that nothing can ever really happen to change God’s one united Son. This means that everyone is still innocent. In reality, we all remain as God created us. Forgiveness is the key to seeing past dreams to innocence. Through forgiveness we are freed from the hell of believing that we could separate or be different from Love’s innocence.

Walking with Holy Spirit

It is [Jesus’] lesson most of all that he would have you learn, and it is this:

There is no death because the Son of God is like his Father. Nothing you can do can change Eternal Love. Forget your dreams of sin and guilt, and come with me instead to share the resurrection of God’s Son. And bring with you all those whom He has sent to you to care for as I care for you. (A Course in Miracles, C-5.6:8-12)

The foundation of all fear is the fear of death, which is really the fear of separation from Love, our Source. When we believe that we are disconnected from God’s Love, it feels like death because our only Life is the Life we share with God. There is no other Life.

The dream of separation, in which bodies seem to be born and die, is images made to make separation from Love seem real. Perceptions that seem to be the cause of irritation, sadness, anxiety, frustration, guilt and fear all are based on the belief that we have lost the life we share with God. These emotions are all manifestations of the fear of death. Yet we are assured that the Son of God cannot die. The Course repeatedly tells us that we are the Son of God. We are all untied as the one Son of God.

To experience this oneness, we need to let go of or forgive the idea that separation from God could exist. This is why forgiveness is the way Home. To learn this essential lesson we must practice moment by moment keeping our minds open to the Holy Spirit’s reinterpretation of all our perceptions. His loving Light will shine away the shadows of fear and the belief that we could be separate from Love. With His help the fearful images that seem so real will fade into the nothingness from which they came.

Today we practice walking with Holy Spirit in each moment.

The Peace of God Is Given You Now

You have been called, together with your brother, to the most holy function this world contains. It is the only one that has no limits, and reaches out to every broken fragment of the Sonship with healing and uniting comfort. This is offered you, in your holy relationship. Accept it here, and you will give as you have accepted. The peace of God is given you with the glowing purpose in which you join with your brother. The holy light that brought you and him together must extend, as you accepted it. (A Course in Miracles, T-18.I.13. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

You are coming to a time when you are ready to accept the greatest gift of all. The peace of God is given you now. In each now moment you are given the most powerful gift possible.

We accept that gift now and we practice accepting the peace of God all through the day, today and every day. As we choose peace consistently today, God’s enlightenment comes with it. God’s inspiration comes in the most perfect way to help you with every problem you may think you have, right now.

Accepting the peace of God helps you relax enough to let the Holy Spirit drive the bus. As you let Holy Spirit be in charge of your thoughts, what is not helpful dissolves, fear dissolves, and you remember that you are safe. You remember that you are innocent. And you also remember that what is true for you is true for everyone. The feeling of kindness and generosity fills your heart to overflowing. You accept your true purpose of joining with every brother with our one united purpose of waking up from the dream of separation.

All this comes as you remember the peace of God is given you now.

We Are Surrounded Only by God’s Love

Love must be forever like itself, changeless forever, and forever without alternative. And so it is. You cannot put a barrier around yourself, because God placed none between Himself and you.

You can stretch out your hand and reach to Heaven. You whose hand is joined with your brother’s have begun to reach beyond the body, but not outside yourself, to reach your shared Identity together. Could this be outside you? Where God is not? Is He a body, and did He create you as He is not, and where He cannot be? You are surrounded only by Him. What limits can there be on you whom He encompasses? (A Course in Miracles, T-18.VI.9:8-10:7. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Let’s practice, today, remembering that we are surrounded only by God’s Love. The truth is that our true Identity is only God’s Love. And this is true about everyone. There are no barriers between our one true Self and God’s Love. We are one shared Identity because we share the one universal Mind of Love. Today we give thanks that only this is true and illusions of separation are nothing and nowhere.

Bringing God’s Peace to the World

We ask for rest today, and quietness unshaken by the world’s appearances. We ask for peace and stillness, in the midst of all the turmoil born of clashing dreams. We ask for safety and for happiness, although we seem to look on danger and on sorrow. And we have the thought that will answer our asking with what we request.

“I rest in God.” This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the happiness you seek.

Each hour that you take your rest [in God] today, a tired mind is suddenly made glad, a bird with broken wings begins to sing, a stream long dry begins to flow again. The world is born again each time you rest, and hourly remember that you came to bring the peace of God into the world, that it might take its rest along with you. We are all here to bring the peace of God into the world. There is no greater gift we could give, and it’s a gift we receive as we give.

When we perceive conflict and bring that perception to the Holy Spirit for His loving correction, we make way to give the peace of God to the world.

When we perceive guilt and let the Holy Spirit correct our misperception, we bring the gift of peace to the world.

When we experience fear and offer it to the Holy Spirit to let Him show us that we remain safe in God, we bring the peace of God to the world.

This is our practice for today.

Seeing Our Brother as Our Savior

Let us ask of Him Who knows this Son of God in his reality and truth, that we may look on him a different way, and see our savior shining in the light of true forgiveness, given unto us. We ask Him in the holy Name of God and of His Son, as holy as Himself:

Let me behold my savior in this one You have appointed as the one for me to ask to lead me to the holy light in which he stands, that I may join with him.

The body’s eyes are closed, and as you think of him who grieved you, let your mind be shown the light in him beyond your grievances.

What you have asked for cannot be denied. Your savior has been waiting long for this. He would be free, and make his freedom yours. The Holy Spirit leans from him to you, seeing no separation in God’s Son. And what you see through Him will free you both. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 78, W-pI.78.7:-8:5. Holy Spirit, I wish only to see the Truth today. I wish to see through Your eyes to the Truth of Love’s Presence everywhere.

I would not dwell on stories of separate bodies with separate interests, but remember the Truth behind the ego stories of separation and differences. The Christ really is all there is to see in Truth, and I am willing to receive the Truth from You today. As I do this, I see every brother as my savior.

We Are Safe

You may wonder how you can be at peace when, while you are in time, there is so much that must be done before the way to peace is open. Perhaps this seems impossible to you. But ask yourself if it is possible that God would have a plan for your salvation that does not work. Once you accept His plan as the one function that you would fulfill, there will be nothing else the Holy Spirit will not arrange for you without your effort. He will go before you making straight your path, and leaving in your way no stones to trip on, and no obstacles to bar your way. Nothing you need will be denied you. Not one seeming difficulty but will melt away before you reach it. You need take thought for nothing, careless of everything except the only purpose that you would fulfill. As that was given you, so will its fulfillment be. God’s guarantee will hold against all obstacles, for it rests on certainty and not contingency. It rests on you. And what can be more certain than a Son of God? (A Course in Miracles, T-20.IV.8. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Beyond the ego’s self-made world of uncertainty and fear is the Universe of Love given us by God with the absolute guarantee that It will never be withheld. We are safe. We are Loved. We are the Love given us by our Creator, and we cannot lose It.

We can deny Its Presence and experience a loveless world, but beyond the veil of denial the sure protection of changeless Love is still present. We need only turn to the Voice for God within for help to change our mind, to let go of the false ideas that block awareness of Love’s presence. Today our practice is to be vigilant for the Voice for God.
