Awakening from Our Dreams

[Dreams] are dreams because they are not true. Their equal lack of truth becomes the basis for the miracle, which means that you have understood that dreams are dreams; and that escape depends, not on the dream, but only on awaking. Could it be some dreams are kept, and others wakened from? The choice is not between which dreams to keep, but only if you want to live in dreams or to awaken from them. (A Course in Miracles, T-29.IV.1:2-5)

We waken from dreams when we are willing to no longer believe in them. Dreams are really nothing, but they appear very real while we still are attracted to make them real. It is the Holy Spirit in our minds That shows us the difference between truth and illusion. As we are willing to consistently step back, the Holy Spirit shows us again and again that there is nothing to fear. Our eternal Reality remains safe in our oneness with God.

Each day our practice is to be willing to be shown that we are dreaming a dream and that its content is not true. This is what the Course calls forgiveness. We are learning to forgive our illusions and return to the awareness that we never left our Father’s Home in Heaven. Forgiveness is our only function here while we still think we are a separate body living in a world that is separate from us.
