Returning to Awareness of Heaven

Life not in Heaven is impossible, and what is not in Heaven is not anywhere. Outside of Heaven, only the conflict of illusions stands; senseless, impossible and beyond all reason, and yet perceived as an eternal barrier to Heaven. Illusions are but forms. Their content is never true.

How can you know whether you chose the stairs to Heaven or the way to hell? Quite easily. How do you feel? Is peace in your awareness? Are you certain which way you go? And are you sure the goal of Heaven can be reached? If not, you walk alone. Ask, then, your Friend to join with you, and give you certainty of where you go. We all have an inner Guide That will lead us out of the illusions of separate forms and return us to the unity of Heaven. Only in the unity of Heaven is God’s Love experienced. Only in the unity of Heaven do we know we are at Home — safe, happy and at peace.

Our inner Guide is always there for us as we are willing to stop and listen, without thinking we already know the difference between the real and unreal. Here we are learning that all separate forms are unreal. Here we are learning that only Love’s Oneness is real.

We are now in the process of returning to our natural Home in Heaven. We get there by opening up to our inner Guide. Here the Light of Truth transforms our thoughts. The Light of Truth dispels what is not true. With illusions gone, eternal, changeless Love is self-evident. Here there is only Love, peace and joy. Sanity has returned.

Today we have only one goal — to listen to the guidance and inspiration of our inner Guide, Who knows how to return us to our true, eternal Home in Heaven.

Accepting God’s Peace

It is God’s strength in you that is the light in which you see, as it is His Mind with which you think. His strength denies your weakness.

The light of strength is constant, sure as love, forever glad to give itself away, because it cannot give but to itself. No one can ask in vain to share its sight, and none who enters its abode can leave without a miracle before his eyes, and strength and light abiding in his heart.

The strength in you will offer you the light, and guide your seeing so you do not dwell on idle shadows that the body’s eyes provide for self-deception. Strength and light unite in you, and where they meet, your Self stands ready to embrace you as Its Own. Such is the meeting place we try today to find and rest in, for the peace of God is where your Self, His Son, is waiting now to meet Itself again, and be as One. To experience the peace of God, we need to learn to not believe what we see with the body’s eyes. The body is incapable of showing us Reality, being itself an illusion. It is our belief in illusions that blocks our awareness of the Light and strength of our Self.

The Holy Spirit will teach us to look past the appearances of the world to the Light of Love that is everywhere. We need only be willing to bring all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit with willingness to be shown the truth behind the appearance. This is how we learn to accept the Light and strength of our Self and see It in our brothers. This is how we open the door to experience the peace of God.

Following Holy Spirit’s Lead

To do what must be done to bring you beyond the suffering inherent in separation, requires the help that is given from beyond separation. It cannot be given however, unless you choose to ask for it and receive it. Your active willingness is required, for you do not need help once or twice a day or occasionally, but constantly. Your mind is always active and always choosing illusion or Truth with everything you think, say, or do. Decision making must become consistent, choosing Truth over illusion repeatedly as you go through your day, if you are to escape the madness of the world you have made. To respond effectively to the challenges and conditions you face, requires clarity of perception and understanding, and commitment to your single purpose. You must surrender, ask for help, receive it as it comes, and act upon it. (From the Christ Mind Book II, p. 116)

Holy Spirit, we ask Your help today. We would not lead, but only follow Your plan. We would make no decisions on our own, for we desire to know the freedom of the Self that Love created us to be.

Lead us to the limitlessness You know to be true… Lead us to the full recognition of the innocence of all… We ask that only Your Will be done, for we accept it as our own.

We Practice Forgiveness Through the Day

Across this bridge [of forgiveness], as powerful as love which laid its blessing on it, are all dreams of evil and of hatred and attack brought silently to truth. They are not kept to swell and bluster, and to terrify the foolish dreamer who believes in them. He has been gently wakened from his dream by understanding what he thought he saw was never there. And now he cannot feel that all escape has been denied to him.

Let [your brother] be freed from all the thoughts you had of sin in him. And now you are prepared for freedom. If you have been practicing thus far in willingness and honesty, you will begin to sense a lifting up, a lightening of weight across your chest, a deep and certain feeling of relief. The time remaining should be given to experiencing the escape from all the heavy chains you sought to lay upon your brother, but were laid upon yourself.

Forgiveness should be practiced through the day, for there will still be many times when you forget its meaning and attack yourself. When this occurs, allow your mind to see through this illusion as you tell yourself:

Let me perceive forgiveness as it is.
Would I accuse myself of doing this?

As we remember “ideas leave not their source” and there is no world outside our mind, we are led to go within and ask the Holy Spirit to lighten our minds so we see the truth behind illusions.

Here we see everyone’s innocence… We see that everyone is still as God created them… We see the Love that resides eternally behind any false perceptions of separation we are holding…

We are willing to see the truth of God’s eternal Love… We are willing to see as our true Self sees… We are willing to forgive illusions of separation and accept the truth of Love’s eternal Oneness… We practice this throughout the day…

We Are One in Spirit

We state again the truth about your Self, the holy Son of God Who rests in you; whose mind has been restored to sanity. You are the spirit lovingly endowed with all your Father’s Love and peace and joy. You are the spirit which completes Himself, and shares His function as Creator. He is with you always, as you are with Him.

You are the spirit in whose mind abides the miracle in which all time stands still; the miracle in which a minute spent in using these ideas becomes a time that has no limit and that has no end. Give, then, these minutes willingly, and count on Him Who promised to lay timelessness beside them. He will offer all His strength to every little effort that you make. Give Him the minutes which He needs today, to help you understand with Him you are the spirit that abides in Him, and that calls through His Voice to every living thing; offers His sight to everyone who asks; replaces error with the simple truth.

Spirit am I, a holy Son of God, free of all limits, safe and

We practice this as we go through the day, reminding ourselves of this important message… We are committed to remembering the truth about ourselves… We remember that this is also the truth about every brother we meet or even think of…

In truth we are all the same Spirit, endowed with all our Father’s Love and peace and joy. We are one in Spirit. We practice extending this truth to everyone we meet today. And what we extend comes back to us tenfold. Here is the Source of our peace. Here is the Source of our joy.

Seeing with the Vision of Christ

Father, today I would but hear Your Voice. In deepest silence I would come to You, to hear Your Voice and to receive Your Word. I have no prayer but this: I come to You to ask You for the truth. And truth is but Your Will, which I would share with You today.

Today we let no ego thoughts direct our words or actions. When such thoughts occur, we quietly step back and look at them, and then we let them go. We do not want what they would bring with them. And so we do not choose to keep them. They are silent now. And in the stillness, hallowed by His Love, God speaks to us and tells us of our will, as we have chosen to remember Him.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 254, W-pII.254.1-2. While we perceive the world through the body’s eyes, ego thoughts will pass through our minds. Our practice needs to be to disconnect from those thoughts and let them go. We are not the ego, and the thoughts of the ego thought system are not ours. The key to release and forgiveness is to not see value in the ego’s thoughts. As we withdraw the values we have given the world of separation, we are less and less disturbed by appearances. They become more easily recognized as having no substance and being unable to harm us in any way.

Our practice today is to observe the ego’s thoughts, recognize that we do not want to keep them and turn them over to the Holy Spirit. He will shine the Light of Love upon them and they will fade away. In their place the vision of Christ will come forward in our minds and we will see our brothers as one with us in Love.

Recognition of Equality Is Healing

Be certain any answer to a problem the Holy Spirit solves will always be one in which no one loses. And this must be true, because He asks no sacrifice of anyone.

The sight of innocence makes punishment impossible, and justice sure. The Holy Spirit’s perception leaves no grounds for an attack. Only a loss could justify attack, and loss of any kind He cannot see.

The principle that justice means no one can lose is crucial to this course. For miracles depend on justice. Not as it is seen through this world’s eyes, but as God knows it and as knowledge is reflected in sight the Holy Spirit gives.

Everyone is equally entitled to His gift of healing and deliverance and peace. To give a problem to the Holy Spirit to solve for you means that you want it solved. To keep it for yourself to solve without His help is to decide it should remain unsettled, unresolved, and lasting in its power of injustice and attack.

What is God’s belongs to everyone, and is his due.

The cause of all pain, guilt and fear is the belief that loss is possible. If loss were possible, then some would have more and others less. Those who believe they have less will seek to take from those they believe have more. Those who believe they have more believe they must defend what they have and live in fear. This is the opposite of the way of Love.

Love gives equally to all, for Love sees all as one with Itself. Where Love is recognized as equal, there is no fear of loss, no concept of trying to gain. Those who know they have everything have no needs. They joyfully share all they have with all. As we learn to recognize and accept that we have all of God’s Love, fear and guilt are healed. All problems are resolved and we experience the joy of Heaven.
