Rest in the Assurance of God’s Love

In this world, there appears to be a state that is life’s opposite. You call it death. Yet we have learned that the idea of death takes many forms. It is the one idea which underlies all feelings that are not supremely happy. It is the alarm to which you give response of any kind that is not perfect joy. All sorrow, loss, anxiety and suffering and pain, even a little sigh of weariness, a slight discomfort or the merest frown, acknowledge death. And thus deny you live.

Death is the thought that you are separate from your Creator.

What seems to be the opposite of life is merely sleeping. When the mind elects to be what it is not, and to assume an alien power which it does not have, a foreign state it cannot enter, or a false condition not within its Source, it merely seems to go to sleep a while. It dreams of time; an interval in which what seems to happen never has occurred, the changes wrought are substanceless, and all events are nowhere. When the mind awakes, it but continues as it always was. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 167, W-pI.167.2;4:1;9. See also ACIM Lesson 167 Insights.)

Perception of loss or lack of any kind indicates that there is a belief in death or separation from God’s oneness. But the Course is telling us that we, the Son of God, can never be separate from our Creator. We are God’s Thought. And thoughts cannot leave their Source. We are forever united in the Thought of Love.

Yet we can imagine we are separate and experience the sense of loss and lack that this imagined state induces. While we are engaged in this imagined scenario, the Presence of Love is all around, yet unknown to us. This is the thought of death.

But an imagined condition is just a false image that could never be true. No matter how horrific or terrorizing the images our imagination generates, they cannot alter the Reality that we remain united in Love with our Creator. We remain eternally safe, eternally loved and loving, eternally innocent, eternally at Home in the Mind of God.

Today let us rest in the assurance that this is so.

Seeing What Our Creator Loves with Charity

What can it be but universal blessing to look on what your Father loves with charity? Extension of forgiveness is the Holy Spirit’s function. Leave this to Him. Let your concern be only that you give to Him that which can be extended. Save no dark secrets that He cannot use, but offer Him the tiny gifts He can extend forever. He will take each one and make of it a potent force for peace. He will withhold no blessing from it, nor limit it in any way. He will join to it all the power that God has given Him, to make each little gift of love a source of healing for everyone. Each little gift you offer to your brother lights up the world. Be not concerned with darkness; look away from it and toward your brother. And let the darkness be dispelled by Him Who knows the light, and lays it gently in each quiet smile of faith and confidence with which you bless your brother. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.VI.9. Each of us has an important role to play in God’s plan for salvation of the world. We do not need to shout glory from the mountain tops. We need only bring each unforgiving thought, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to the Holy Spirit in our mind with willingness to receive His gentle correction.

Correction is not our job. Any attempt to correct ourselves, to try to “reason” ourselves to forgive, is simply an ego attempt to interfere with our healing and release. We just need to do our job: Turn over each unforgiving thought. The Holy Spirit will do the rest. Our little, separated ego minds cannot fathom the unlimited scope of the blessing that extends each time we offer an unforgiving thought to Holy Spirit.

Today we will be vigilant for every unforgiving thought that disturbs our peace. And we will offer it in humility and gratitude to the Holy Spirit, with willingness to receive His gift in return. This is how we bless the world and bless ourselves.

Seeing the Spirit of Love Everywhere

Leave all decisions to the One Who speaks for God, and for your function as He knows it. So will He teach you to remove the awful burden you have laid upon yourself by loving not the Son of God, and trying to teach him guilt instead of love.”

When you have learned how to decide with God, all decisions become as easy and as right as breathing. There is no effort, and you will be led as gently as if you were being carried down a quiet path in summer. Only your own volition seems to make deciding hard. The Holy Spirit will not delay in answering your every question what to do. He knows. And He will tell you, and then do it for you. You who are tired will find this more restful than sleep. For you can bring your guilt into sleeping, but not into this. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.IV.5:4-5;6:1-8. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The Holy Spirit shows us how to see every brother and every form in the world if we are open to His way of seeing. The Holy Spirit sees past ego images of differences and separation to the pure, unaltered Spirit of Love that is eternally everywhere.

What a happy experience we have as we practice letting Holy Spirit show us how to see every brother as he really is in eternity. The Holy Spirit is happy to show us what is true behind all illusions of separation. We choose with Holy Spirit today.

We Are Grateful Love Is Eternal

God has cared for us, and calls us Son. Can there be more than this?

Our gratitude will pave the way to Him, and shorten our learning time by more than you could ever dream of. Gratitude goes hand in hand with love, and where one is the other must be found. For gratitude is but an aspect of the Love which is the Source of all creation. God gives thanks to you, His Son, for being what you are; His Own completion and the Source of love, along with Him. Your gratitude to Him is one with His to you. For love can walk no road except the way of gratitude, and thus we go who walk the way to God. God has given us all of What He Is. God is all Love and therefore we all are all Love. God is. Love is. This is the truth for all eternity.

We are so filled with gratitude that this is true and cannot be changed. For all eternity, we are safe… we are innocent… we are loved… we are Home. In truth there can be no loss; there can be no death; there can be no sorrow and no pain. We remain one with God and nothing can change that. We give thanks that this is so. Love is the way we walk in gratitude.

Being Willing to Return Home to God

Is it not [God] Who knows the way to you? You need not know the way to Him. Your part is simply to allow all obstacles that you have interposed between the Son and God the Father to be quietly removed forever. God will do His part in joyful and immediate response. Ask and receive. But do not make demands, nor point the road to God by which He should appear to you. The way to reach Him is merely to let Him be. For in that way is your reality proclaimed as well.

And so today we do not choose the way in which we go to Him. But we do choose to let Him come. And with this choice we rest. And in our quiet hearts and open minds, His Love will blaze its pathway of itself. What has not been denied is surely there, if it be true and can be surely reached. …Through every opened door His Love shines outward from its home within, and lightens up the world in innocence. Forgiveness is the means for removing the barriers we have built to keep God’s Love out. The oneness of God’s Love cannot coexist with the separation of the ego thought system. When we identify with the ego, the Light of God’s Love is unknown to us.

The practice of letting go of our plans to find what we believe will bring us peace and happiness clears the way to welcome the lessons of God’s Teacher. As we resign as our own teacher and welcome the Holy Spirit’s healing lessons, the self-made barriers against Love fade away.

This is forgiveness. This is how we let the Light of Love shine forth from within to bless our brothers and the world. As we let this Light extend, we also experience its blessing. Today we declare our willingness to be taught the way of Love. We are willing to return Home.

We Remain as God Created Us

I will accept Atonement for myself,
For I remain as God created me.

We have not lost the knowledge that God gave to us when He created us like Him. We can remember it for everyone, for in creation are all minds as one. And in our memory is the recall how dear our brothers are to us in truth, how much a part of us is every mind, how faithful they have really been to us, and how our Father’s Love contains them all. No matter how engrossed we have become in the dream of separation, there is still a part of our mind that remembers we remain as God created us. The dream has fully captured our attention so the memory of God has been pushed out of our awareness. Yet it remains intact. We need to be taught to recognize the dream for what it is. We need to learn that the dream has no substance and no value. It does not offer us anything that will satisfy us eternally.

As we begin to open to this recognition, we open our minds to be taught to see past the images of the dream. We begin to realize there is a better way — a more peaceful way, a more loving and happy way. Our brothers are seen less and less as adversaries and more as dear friends and companions in the way of Love. Love becomes our motivator. Compassion replaces fear. The recognition of innocence replaces judgment and guilt.

Today we would take another step closer toward accepting atonement for ourselves, remembering we remain as God created us.

Forgiveness Leads Us to Truth

“Forgiveness, not as the world understands it, but as it is in truth, is the highest form of Love attainable on earth. Forgiveness is given to all regardless of appearances; like Love, of which it is a part, its meaning lies in its all inclusiveness. Do not question the value of forgiveness; it will lead you back to God and perfect freedom. Without forgiveness, you are like a blind man trying to judge what he cannot see or understand, groping his way along through the darkness in which he lives. Forgiveness illuminates the darkness of human life, shining it away while restoring your mind to Love.

“What in this world could offer you anything remotely as valuable as forgiveness? It will undo the hell which you have made; a place of fear and hatred, marked by conflict and sorrow, ending in death. Forgiveness will heal your mind of the deep sense of guilt you have carried so long. It will relieve you of self hate and the sense of unworthiness that drives you to project guilt and the need for punishment onto your brothers. Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict and pain, of lovelessness and isolation. It will bring you back to where you belong, where you become a shining beacon, lighting the way for your brothers to follow.” (From the Christ Mind Book II, p. 225)

Forgiveness means stepping back from our normal everyday way of thinking and letting the Holy Spirit lead us to a new way of seeing the world. Forgiveness lightens the way Home to our true Source of Love in Heaven.

As we learn to consistently step back and listen to the Holy Spirit, we see the Love that lies beyond all forms… We move past time to the safety and peace that lie on our true eternal Nature…

We watch the world’s stories without believing in them… We feel Holy Spirit’s infinite patience, knowing that both time and space are illusions…

We now use time to awaken from the dream and help our brothers do the same… We feel the happiness the Truth brings to our mind and remember that we are safe in God’s Love, no matter what the dream scenarios look like… We give thanks that only the truth is true and that we all remain as God created us.
