We Gratefully Choose Christ’s Vision

Christ’s is the vision I will use today.

Each day, each hour, every instant, I am choosing what I want to look upon, the sounds I want to hear, the witnesses to what I want to be the truth for me. ²Today I choose to look upon what Christ would have me see, to listen to God’s Voice, and seek the witnesses to what is true in God’s creation. ³In Christ’s sight, the world and God’s creation meet, and as they come together all perception disappears. ⁴His kindly sight redeems the world from death, for nothing that He looks on but must live, remembering the Father and the Son; Creator and creation unified.

Father, Christ’s vision is the way to You. ²What He beholds invites Your memory to be restored to me. ³And this I choose, to be what I would look upon today. (A Course in Miracles, W-271. See also ACIM Lesson 271 Insights.)

Christ’s vision sees through forgiving eyes. It means we no longer prefer specialness over the unity of Love. Without this preference distorting our vision, we see the world God created one with Himself. We see no cause for conflict or loss. We see only our brothers united with us in the sameness of God’s Love.

With Christ’s vision, we are at peace because we see nothing that conflicts with our true Identity. We joyously join with the eternal giving and receiving of Love that is our Identity. Today we gratefully choose Christ’s vision.

Accepting Our Life in God

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought;—you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself. ²Whatever evil you may think you did, you are as God created you. ³Whatever mistakes you made, the truth about you is unchanged. ⁴Creation is eternal and unalterable. ⁵Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. ⁶You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. ⁷Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there.”

…for the first five minutes of every waking hour, begin by stating the truth about your creation:

²Light and joy and peace abide in me.
³My sinlessness is guaranteed by God.

⁴Then put away your foolish self-images, and spend the rest of the practice period in trying to experience what God has given you, in place of what you have decreed for yourself.

You are what God created or what you made. ²One Self is true; the other is not there. ³Try to experience the unity of your one Self. ⁴Try to appreciate Its Holiness and the love from which It was created. ⁵Try not to interfere with the Self which God created as you, by hiding Its majesty behind the tiny idols of evil and sinfulness you have made to replace It. ⁶Let It come into Its Own. ⁷Here you are; This is You. ⁸And light and joy and peace abide in you because this is so. The image we have made about ourselves makes us feel weak, vulnerable, unworthy, fearful and guilty. It is a false image. It is time to let that image go.

Today we are shown how God sees us and knows we are. We have a decision to make. Do we want to accept a made up self image or accept the Self God knows as His Son eternally? The first choice is a nightmare dream. The second choice accepts our Self as God created It. God wants us to remember Him as our Source and our Life.

He has given us a Teacher in our mind to help us remember that we are loved and loving. His joy and peace live in us, His Son, as we live in Him. Today we choose to accept the help given us to remember the Life we live in God.

A Gift We Give Ourselves and the World

²It seems to you that other people are apart from you, and able to behave in ways which have no bearing on your thoughts, nor yours on theirs. ³Therefore, your attitudes have no effect on them, and their appeals for help are not in any way related to your own. ⁴You further think that they can sin without affecting your perception of yourself, while you can judge their sin, and yet remain apart from condemnation and at peace.

…true forgiveness, as the means by which it is attained, must heal the mind that gives, for giving is receiving.

Today we try to understand the truth that giver and receiver are the same.

In silence, close your eyes upon the world that does not understand forgiveness, and seek sanctuary in the quiet place where thoughts are changed and false beliefs laid by. ²Repeat today’s idea, and ask for help in understanding what it really means. ³Be willing to be taught. ⁴Be glad to hear the Voice of truth and healing speak to you, and you will understand the words He speaks, and recognize He speaks your words to you.

…tell yourself:

³All that I give is given to myself. ⁴The Help I need to learn that this is true is with me now. ⁵And I will trust in Him.

⁶Then spend a quiet moment, opening your mind to His correction and His Love. ⁷And what you hear of Him you will believe, for what He gives will be received by you. (W-126.2:2-4;7:5;8:1;10:1-4;11:2-7)

There is a way to see the world anew. We welcome it by pausing to quiet our mind to rest in the peace of God within. In this place we hear His Voice which teaches us to forgive the beliefs that have disturbed our peace. In their place we experience the joy of giving and receive Love.

We give ourselves and the world a gift each time we are willing to open our minds to His lessons in giving and receiving Love.

Accepting God’s Gift of All His Love

What seems to be the second place is first, for all things we perceive are upside down until we listen to the Voice for God. ²It seems that we will gain autonomy but by our striving to be separate, and that our independence from the rest of God’s creation is the way in which salvation is obtained. ³Yet all we find is sickness, suffering and loss and death. ⁴This is not what our Father wills for us, nor is there any second to His Will. ⁵To join with His is but to find our own. ⁶And since our will is His, it is to Him that we must go to recognize our will.

There is no will but Yours. ²And I am glad that nothing I imagine contradicts what You would have me be. ³It is Your Will that I be wholly safe, eternally at peace. ⁴And happily I share that Will which You, my Father, gave as part of me. The wish to be independent from our Creator is the cause of all our problems in this world. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness and peace that cannot be disturbed. In fact, He gave His Will to His Son. It is our only true Will. When we are willing to set aside our demand to be different, we free ourselves to join in the eternal happiness of God’s Love.

Today we accept God’s outstretched Hand inviting us to come Home to Love, where we belong in Truth. It is an eternal invitation. Every now moment offers an opportunity to accept.

Letting Holy Spirit Fact Check Our Illusions

Who can be born again in Christ but him who has forgiven everyone he sees or thinks of or imagines? ²Who could be set free while he imprisons anyone?

Therefore, hold no one prisoner. ²Release instead of bind, for thus are you made free. ³The way is simple. ⁴Every time you feel a stab of anger, realize you hold a sword above your head. ⁵And it will fall or be averted as you choose to be condemned or free. ⁶Thus does each one who seems to tempt you to be angry represent your savior from the prison house of death. ⁷And so you owe him thanks instead of pain.

Be merciful today. ²The Son of God deserves your mercy. ³It is he who asks that you accept the way to freedom now. ⁴Deny him not. ⁵His Father’s Love for him belongs to you. ⁶Your function here on earth is only to forgive him, that you may accept [the Son of God] back as your Identity. ⁷He is as God created him. ⁸And you are what he is. ⁹Forgive him now his sins, and you will see that you are one with him. While we identify with the ego, we deny our true Identity. We see our chosen identity reflected back to us in all our perceptions. We see a world of conflict, war, loss and lack because we believe that those things are true about ourselves. These reflections in our perceptions can be recognized as opportunities to forgive ourselves for denying our true Identity.

Today can be a day of joy and peace if we choose to use the opportunities presented to us to forgive our mistaken beliefs. Because we are enamored with the ego, we need to call upon the Holy Spirit for His help. He does not believe the ego’s story. He sees us as united as God’s one Son. He sees us as Love and nothing else. He is in our mind to help us to fact check our thoughts so we can dismiss the false and accept the truth. This is what forgiveness does. We are grateful for His help.

The Power of Forgiveness

It is your Father’s holy Will that you complete Himself, and that your Self shall be His sacred Son, forever pure as He, of love created and in love preserved, extending love, creating in its name, forever one with God and with your Self.

³Forgiveness represents your function here.

…God created One Who has the power to translate in form the wholly formless. ⁶What He makes are dreams, but of a kind so close to waking that the light of day already shines in them, and eyes already opening behold the joyful sights their offerings contain.

Forgiveness gently looks upon all things unknown in Heaven, sees them disappear, and leaves the world a clean and unmarked slate on which the Word of God can now replace the senseless symbols written there before. ²Forgiveness is the means by which the fear of death is overcome, because it holds no fierce attraction now and guilt is gone. ³Forgiveness lets the body be perceived as what it is; a simple teaching aid, to be laid by when learning is complete, but hardly changing him who learns at all. We have the power in our mind to heal the mistaken beliefs that cause our nightmare experience of conflict, loss, fear and guilt. This power is available to us in every moment. It is God’s gift to His beloved Son, our true Self. When we are willing to reconsider our interpretations of our perceptions, we can call upon this Help to show us how to forgive our mistaken beliefs.

Today, in every now moment, we have the opportunity to accept this help. Today we welcome It by asking our Inner Teacher of everything, “What is this for?” He will use this openness to show us the Reality of Love beyond the dark thoughts of division and isolation. He will help us learn that we are Love and nothing else. In this recognition, we find peace and happiness.

Letting Holy Spirit Show Us the Love We Are

³The Holy Spirit takes you gently by the hand, and retraces with you your mad journey outside yourself, leading you gently back to the truth and safety within. ⁴He brings all your insane projections and the wild substitutions that you have placed outside you to the truth. ⁵Thus He reverses the course of insanity and restores you to reason.

In your relationship with your brother, where He has taken charge of everything at your request, He has set the course inward to the truth you share. ²In the mad world outside you nothing can be shared but only substituted, and sharing and substituting have nothing in common in reality. ³Within yourself you love your brother with a perfect love. ⁴Here is holy ground, in which no substitution can enter, and where only the truth in your brother can abide. ⁵Here you are joined in God, as much together as you are with Him. ⁶The original error has not entered here, nor ever will. ⁷Here is the radiant truth, to which the Holy Spirit has committed your relationship. ⁸Let Him bring it here, where _you_ would have it be. ⁹Give Him but a little faith in your brother, to help Him show you that no substitute you made for Heaven can keep you from it. Our true Self, along with the Holy Spirit, is committed to the truth that we are one in God’s Love. As we commit to following the Holy Spirit’s lead, He will lead us out of our dream of conflict and loss. We cannot lose our oneness with God’s Love. But we can deny It and dream of a loveless world.

Today we bring every fearful or guilty thought, every thought of judgment, to the Holy Spirit. He will bring it to the truth and show us the truth beyond the veil of denial. With His help, we will see the Light of Love in every brother and dismiss the dream figures that have hidden it in our mind. We want to remember that we are Love and nothing else. With this practice, today will be joyful, peaceful and loving.
