Accepting God’s Voice

Mary:
In our reading this morning in A Course in Miracles, this paragraph stood out to me:

Listen in deep silence. Be very still and open your mind. Go past all the raucous shrieks and sick imaginings that cover your real thoughts and obscure your eternal link with God. Sink deep into the peace that waits for you beyond the frantic, riotous thoughts and sights and sounds of this insane world. You do not live here. We are trying to reach your real home. We are trying to reach the place where you are truly welcome. We are trying to reach God. (W-pI.49.4)

These are very clear directions in how to help me move past thoughts of separation to the real thoughts we share with God. It emphasizes that I need to be quiet. It emphasizes that I need to have an open mind. It also instructs me to go past all the thoughts which stem from the belief in separation.

I must be willing to sink deep into the peace that awaits me. As I am willing, peace carries me gently past all worldly thoughts. Peace carries me to my real Home. It is here that I find my real strength. It is here that I am awakened to my true Nature, which includes the whole Sonship — God’s whole family of Love. This is my practice for today.

Robert:
This lesson assures me that “God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.” There is never a time when God’s Voice is not present and communicating with me in my mind. When I am not aware of this communication, it is only because I have blocked it from my awareness by focusing my attention on the images of the world of separation. God’s Voice is always there, whether or not I am aware of It.

This lesson also assures me that the part of my mind that is aware of this Voice is a place of deep peace. To return to awareness of this Voice I only need to go to this deep peace in my mind. It’s always there. I just need to be willing to sink past the things of the world that I have given attention. As I give attention to peace, the guidance of this Voice comes to the front and leads me to my real Home.

My practice today is to frequently go to that place of peace in my mind. This is all I really want.

Dependence on God

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Placing your trust in God is allowing yourself to be totally dependent on God. To be totally dependent on God is to give God your total attention. You are quiet and open to God’s gift of peace. You are open to your inner Teacher’s inspiration and guidance. You willingly give time to serving Love’s one purpose — to extend Love equally to all of Itself.

You are learning that opening to receiving God’s Love and extending God’s Love is a full-time job. This is what brings you joy and a sense of deep happiness and well-being. You freely give all the Love that you have, because you know there is no lack of Love. Accepting and giving Love’s abundance is your full-time focus. Nothing else matters. Accepting this truth is your opportunity today. Enjoying What you are and Where you are is your opportunity today. It is your gift to receive and extend.

Robert:
If I completely trusted God, I would feel perfectly safe because I would know that I am supported by the Source of all strength and limitless Love. I would need nothing else.

The fact that I don’t feel that safety is a sure indication that I am trusting in my own strength because I am denying my Source of strength. Having denied the Source of strength, a sense of vulnerability and weakness is inevitable. The ego is the idea of independence, being separate, and therefore perceives dependence on God as weakness. This is typical of perception, which always sees itself reflected back to it.

The way back to the complete assurance of my wholeness and invulnerability is to let go of belief in being separate. I do this whenever I remember to step back and welcome my inner Teacher’s vision in place of the ego’s projections. Today as I practice doing this, I continue on my journey of awakening to my wholeness in Love.

Let Yourself Be Carried

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Let yourself be carried today. That means you need make no decisions on your own. It means you need not make any judgments on your own or decide what anything means on your own. The idea of being on your own is just a false idea that is not true.

You are still as God created you. This means formless Love is What you are eternally. Formless Love knows only formless Love. Today let yourself be carried and know the truth that only formless Love is What you are and What everyone is. This is what it means to let yourself be carried.

Robert:
We are frequently reminded that we are being carried and that we need to let ourselves be carried. This is because there is a long established habit of believing that we are on our own, which is the denial that we are being carried — that we remain in the Heart of God. We are being encouraged to kick the habit.

Like any addiction, the habit of believing we are on our own has destructive consequences. It brings with it fear, pain and guilt. But the good news is there is a better way. And being reminded to let ourselves be carried is pointing us in the direction of the better way. We just need to take one day at a time, one moment at a time, to remember that we remain as Love created us and let Love carry us.

And so today I will practice remembering that I am being carried. If I fall off the wagon, I will pick myself up, dust off the guilt and remind myself again that I remain Love as Love created me and I am carried in that Love.

Staying Anchored in Quiet

Mary and Robert:
During our time of quiet this morning, Holy Spirit brought in the idea to allow periods of quiet several times a day to step back from the activity of the world. It is like going to a little quiet cove where the waters are still and the wind is calm.

Spirit reminded us to anchor there a little while and rest in the stillness. In that stillness we receive inspiration. It gives time for purification from any false ideas that need to be corrected. Allowing time for this frequently throughout the day keeps our ship well tuned for the Holy Spirit’s purpose.

We found this to be very helpful because we are getting ready for our trip to San Francisco and there are a lot of details that need to be taken care of in the world. Spirit brought this idea to us to help us stay consistently connected. Frequently taking time to be still allows us to stay on track so that we let ourselves be carried instead of trying to act on our own. Stepping back frequently is a powerful habit that we want to implement more fully as a standard daily practice.

We see great power in this practice. We are very grateful that we are being shown, step by step, how to walk through the dream story in peace. We want to stay aligned with Holy Spirit’s plan to be truly helpful. Moving into Holy Spirit’s cove of quietness is a way to keep our ship on course.

Learning to See God’s Guiltless Son

Mary:
In our reading of A Course in Miracles this morning, this is what stood out to me:

…the Son of God is guiltless now, and the brightness of his purity shines untouched forever in God’s Mind. God’s Son will always be as he was created. Deny your world and judge him not, for his eternal guiltlessness is in the Mind of his Father, and protects him forever. …As you perceive the holy companions (every brother) who travel with you, you will realize that there is no journey, but only an awakening. (T-13.I.5:6-8,7:1)

This world was made up in our minds to project the guilt that came with the desire to usurp God’s Will and establish a will of our own. The way out of this madness is to be willing to let our true Self show us everyone’s innocence. In truth, nothing has happened to change God’s one, perfect, loving Son. As I am willing to see innocence everywhere, I wake up from the dream of guilt.

This is my practice for today — to step back again and again and again to be shown the innocence that is eternally there in every brother. And I will receive what I ask for in my heart of hearts.

Robert:
The more I read ACIM, the more it is reinforced that the way to awaken is to let go of judgment. This is another way of saying “to forgive.” If I see a brother as a body, I am judging him as limited to that image. I am not seeing him as he is. I need to let this go. If I believe anyone is a body, including myself, I am unable to see the reality of Love. Love has no limits and has no form. It is simply the free and eternal extension of joy and peace. Love cannot be limited by any image.

While I seem to be walking in the world with a body, the body’s eyes will show me images. That’s what it was made to do. But I don’t have to believe these images have any meaning or value. As I practice letting my true Self interpret all that I seem to see, I will learn to look past the images. Their seeming importance will fade and the Light of Love will shine through with increasing brilliance. This is how I truly want to see the world, for this is how I will learn of the Love that I am. My practice today is to let my true Self be the interpreter of all things.

Listen and Learn the Truth

Robert:
My practice today is to see everyone, including myself, as God’s Son, complete and healed and whole, shining in the reflection of His Love. This practice will help me remember that I remain as Love created me. And I give thanks.

Mary:
Today is a day of stepping back and listening to my inner Mentor, my inner Teacher. Stepping back means stepping aside from all of the ego’s thoughts and being willing to let my mind be still… My inner Teacher is heard when I allow my mind to quiet. In quiet, Inspiration comes quite naturally of Itself… And for this I give thanks. This is my practice for today.

See the Love of God in Everyone

Robert:
Last night I woke up with the thought that I don’t deserve to live in a castle any more than I deserve to live in a box; I don’t deserve relationships with any bodies any more than I deserve to live in isolation from other bodies; I don’t deserve to be known by everyone in the world any more than I deserve to be known to no one. This is because nothing in the world is worthy of God’s Son. His worth is established by God and can never change. Only God’s gift of Love is worthy of His Son. His Son deserves nothing less and there is nothing else.

A Course in Miracles assures me that I am God’s Son, along with everyone. The image of a body with a personality is just a false story. If I think anything that happens to that identity has any affect on me, I have forgotten What I am. I am identifying with a made up image that could never be the truth.

My real Identity is Love and nothing else. I share that Identity with everyone. If I see anyone, including myself as anything but Love, I am not seeing with true vision. When I shift my attention, even for a moment, to true vision, the Love I see is so joyous and so peaceful that the images of the world fade. This is the vision of the world I want to keep in my mind.

Today I call upon the Love of God in me to help me see that Love throughout the day. I am grateful that I am given the means to have this experience.

Mary:
Love is one. This is what I am to remember today. My practice is to remember that Love is one in every situation throughout the day.
