Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Robert:
Do I want to be happy? Of course! Everyone in the world would say yes to this question. The problem is that if I see myself as separate, with a body and an identity different from anyone else, I will seek for happiness where it cannot be found.

Everybody’s actions in the world are motivated by the quest for happiness. In fact, the making of a world of separation came from the idea that having more than everything would bring happiness. But “more than everything” is impossible and seeking for the impossible is insane. Thus seeking for happiness in an insane thought system is an exercise in futility that can only lead to frustration and depression.

The good news is that there is another way. A Course in Miracles tells us that there remains in our minds a link to sanity, a link that an lead us back to the one Self we are. This one Self is united with our Creator. It shares the joy and love and peace of our Creator. This Self remains in our mind. We can be unaware of It but we can never lose It. It is in our one Self that we find lasting happiness. It is in our one Self that we find peace. That one Self is in us all and unites us as One.

Today is a day to practice reminding myself that I am one Self, united with my Creator. And this is where I find happiness.

Mary:
As I go into a place of quiet this morning, the words, “simple, uncomplicated Love” resound in my mind. I stay with it and ask to go deeper into it. What comes is, “Let simple, uncomplicated Love carry you through your day. Practice being still and listening for the direction of simple, uncomplicated Love throughout your day. Let simple, uncomplicated Love carry you. Do not try to do anything on your own.

“Let yourself be showered with the blessings that come with allowing simple, uncomplicated Love to lead you through every part of your day. Let yourself feel the storehouse of gifts that simple, uncomplicated Love showers on you through the day. Share the blessings you receive with the whole Sonship.”

I Place the Future in the Hands of God

Mary:
Today my practice is to let go of all desire to see separation as real. This means my focus today is on letting go of wanting anything to show up in a particular form. I see that this practice of letting go of wanting certain special forms is what it takes to let go of specialness.

My practice for today involves letting go of what I think anything means. This is not easy, as I find myself coming back again and again to giving certain forms special meaning. And so I take this moment right now to practice handing over all that I think I know to the Holy Spirit to be transformed.

As I practice this I gently receive the peace of God. I am reminded that this is what it means to let go and let God. The Light of the Holy Spirit will replace all false ideas as I am willing to step back and let the Holy Spirit lead the way. The truth is all that I really need God has already given me. Am I willing to accept God’s Plan, or do I want something else? My practice for today is to let go of desiring something else. Today my mantra is, “I place the future in the Hands of God.”

Robert:
To rest in God I must trust in Him. I must trust that what He wants for me is what I want. A Course in Miracles tells me that my real will is the same as God’s Will. But if I think I want something else, then I will be afraid of God’s Will and I will not trust in Him. If I think I have a different will, I will not trust God. I will be afraid that He will demand that I give up something I treasure. It is the insane notion that there is anything other than God’s Will that could content me or make me happy that needs to be let go. The Course reminds me that God’s Will for me is perfect happiness. What more could I want?

So today I ask the Holy Spirit to help me recognize the false ideas of what I think will make me happy so that I can make way, with His help, for what will bring me lasting perfect happiness. This is what I really want. This is how I can accept the future God offers me.

Celebrate Christ

Robert:
This is a day set aside to celebrate Christ. Let us celebrate by joining with the Christ in our hearts and seeing with the vision of Christ. Christ’s vision shows us only innocence. As ministers of God our function is to see with the eyes of forgiveness, Christ’s vision.

When I see with forgiving eyes, judgment is gone. My heart is open and the Love in me joins with the Love that is in everyone, everywhere. The Love of Christ is in the barking dog I hear outside the window. The Love of Christ is in the car I hear driving by on the street. The Love of Christ is in the families gathering together to celebrate in whatever form they choose.

The Love of Christ is everywhere. And as I join with It, I feel Its comfort and Its safety. Without defenses I welcome it for I remember the Love of Christ is What I am. It is all that is real. I rest in Love.

Mary:
Today is a day of resting in the truth. Today is a day of practice, letting the veil be lifted that I may see past individual bodies to God’s universal Love, Which is All That is. Christmas day is a day of resting in the one Christ Mind, Which includes everyone.

Seeing Through Holy Spirit’s Eyes

Mary:
Today it is my opportunity to hand all seeing over to the Holy Spirit, my true, united Self in the Mind of God. The Holy Spirit knows there is nothing outside of this oneness. The Holy Spirit knows that the one Mind of Love That is in everyone is all that is true. The Holy Spirit would bring this to my attention as I am willing to step back and be open to true seeing.

My practice for today is to say frequently: “Holy Spirit, I am open to seeing through Your eyes right now. That is all I want to see. I am open to recognizing that only Love is real.”

Robert:
Since the body is itself an illusion, the body’s senses are only capable of perceiving illusion. To wake up from this dream, I need to choose to pay attention to the vision of the Holy Spirit in my mind. When my focus is on the Holy Spirit’s perception, I will hear and see the reflection of the oneness of God’s Love in this world.

In every moment I am choosing whether to give credence to the body’s perception or the Holy Spirit’s true perception. The body’s perception will always show me signs that I am separate. The Holy Spirit will always show me that I am one with all. It is only in this oneness that lasting peace and happiness are possible. So in every moment I choose between the chaos of separation and the certainty of changeless oneness.

Today I ask for the Holy Spirit’s help in seeing as He sees, hearing as He hears so that I may recognize the one loving Self that is in everyone and everything everywhere.

Accept God’s Love and Trust

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Where is God’s Love? It is eternally safe in everyone’s mind, waiting for acceptance. Opening to the willingness to accept God’s Love is all the world is for.

Recognizing that illusions mean nothing is the means by which the barriers to knowing God’s Love are lifted. Your purpose for today is to accept the happiness that comes with letting the barriers to Love be lifted.

Open your heart today to the truth of Love’s Presence. Relax… and be willing to let illusions go… There are no separate bodies in truth. There are no special places nor special things. Let God’s Love replace the attraction to specialness. This is the way to happiness. This is the way to eternal peace and joy.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
When you choose separation and specialness, you will trust no one except yourself. Everything you perceive appears to be outside of you and therefore capable of harming you. Where there is perceived potential for harm, peace is impossible. When you choose specialness, you inevitably feel vulnerable to all those external images. Thus when you rely on your own planning for your protection, you will inevitably be fearful.

If you want peace, you must trust in the One Who knows you as your are, whole and complete in God’s Love. Let Him guide you in every moment and He will teach you that you are cared for and protected by the changeless Love of your Creator. Trust not in plans of your own making.

Step back and be willing to receive the plan of your holy Self. Here is trust justified, for your Self shares the strength of God. Step back from planning today and open your mind and heart to the lead of your inner Guide. Rest in the peace that comes with following the certainty of Love.

Learning to See the Truth

Robert:
The truth in me is the Self that God created as His one Son. This same one Self is the truth in everyone and unites everyone as one. The image of a body with a personality and a name is a false image. If I believe in it, it blinds me to the truth of my one Self. I cannot believe in a separate image and know the oneness of my Self. The Course is telling me to let go of all belief in separate images, to not believe the images the body’s senses show me. As I learn to see with forgiving eyes, without judgment of any kind, I will see past the images of separation to the one Self that is the Love of God.

Today I pray for Holy Spirit’s help to see truly and recognize my Self in my brother. Thus will I learn that I am Love along with him.

Mary:
My job today is to pause frequently throughout the day and step back from my focus on the world, and let the Holy Spirit lead the way. This is how I am led to wake up from getting lost in the dream of separation. The more I am willing to accept Holy Spirit’s peace consistently through the day, the more I open the connection to the Holy Spirit, Who is always there as I am willing to be quiet and listen. This is my practice for today.

Bringing Peace with Me

Mary:
This morning we were guided to read Lesson 245 of the Workbook of A Course in Miracles. This prayer stood out to me:

Your peace surrounds me, Father. Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. It sheds its light on everyone I meet. I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. Send them to me, my Father. Let me bring Your peace with me. For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self. (W-pII.245.1:1-8)

My most important job today and every day is to accept the gift of peace that is always there for me and extend it to everyone I meet or even think of. What a wonderful opportunity I have today to give the blessings I receive. This is how I return to the remembrance of our one, united Self. And I give thanks.

Robert:
Today’s reading reminded me that to know I have the Love and peace of God, I must give It. That is how I recognize I have It. By Its nature, Love is constantly extending Itself. Since my Self is the Love of God, to know my Self I must offer only Love. If I think I see anything but Love, I have forgotten Who I am and am believing in a false self-concept. Forgiveness is the means to let go of all false self-concepts to clear away the barriers to Love. Today I have the happy purpose to look on every brother with Love, see the Love he is and learn of the Love I am. Oh happy day!
