Being a Messenger of Love to the World

Patience

Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety. Patience is natural to the teacher of God. All he sees is certain outcome, at a time perhaps unknown to him as yet, but not in doubt. The time will be as right as is the answer. And this is true for everything that happens now or in the future. The past as well held no mistakes; nothing that did not serve to benefit the world, as well as him to whom it seemed to happen. Perhaps it was not understood at the time. Even so, the teacher of God is willing to reconsider all his past decisions, if they are causing pain to anyone. Patience is natural to those who trust. Sure of the ultimate interpretation of all things in time, no outcome already seen or yet to come can cause them fear. (A Course in Miracles, M-4.VIII)

The Course tells us that all things are lessons God would have us learn. The basic lesson the Holy Spirit has been given to teach us is that we remain united with our Creator as Love and nothing else. Anything we perceive that is not recognized as loving is a call for Love.

On the other hand, the ego perceives everything as “proof” that separation is real. Death the ultimate confirmation of the ego’s belief in separation. While we identify with the ego, we perceive a world of fear, guilt and loss. The ego is always on the lookout for opportunities to blame, attack and defend. Yet what the ego finds, the Holy Spirit reinterprets as opportunities to give Love. The current world perception of a pandemic is a world-wide call for Love. If we perceive it with fear, we are calling for Love. All the disasters, tragedies, wars and killings of the past the Holy Spirit sees as calls for Love.

Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love. We are willing to accept His vision that sees past the veil of separation to the eternal unity of Love. With His help, we will see the loving answer to the world-wide call for Love. We will see the Holy Spirit’s loving answer to our fear-based calls for Love. As we join with the Holy Spirit, we become messengers of the Answer that brings Love to heal hate and fear, guilt and loss.

Today we choose to be messengers of Love.

Living as the Love We Are

In fearlessness and love I spend today.

This day, my Father, would I spend with You, as You have chosen all my days should be. And what I will experience is not of time at all. The joy that comes to me is not of days nor hours, for it comes from Heaven to Your Son. This day will be Your sweet reminder to remember You, Your gracious calling to Your holy Son, the sign Your grace has come to me, and that it is Your Will I be set free today.

We spend this day together, you and I. And all the world joins with us in our song of thankfulness and joy to Him Who gave salvation to us, and Who set us free. We are restored to peace and holiness. There is no room in us for fear today, for we have welcomed love into our hearts. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 310, W-pII.310. See also ACIM Lesson 310 Insights.)

Today we choose to spend the day in Love. We choose to spend the day seeing the world as our true Self sees it. We practice asking of everything, “How would Love see this? What would Love do in this situation? How would Love respond?”

As we let Love guide us throughout the day, we learn of our unbreakable union with our Creator and all our brothers, united as God’s one Son. The stressful thoughts of fear are dispelled as we remember we are eternally safe in the changelessness of Love. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and peace.

The Practice That Brings Lasting Happiness

Have you consistently appreciated the good efforts, and overlooked mistakes? Or has your appreciation flickered and grown dim in what seemed to be the light of the mistakes [of your brother]? Perhaps you are now entering upon a campaign to blame him for the discomfort of the situation in which you find yourself. And by this lack of thanks and gratitude you make yourself unable to express the holy instant, and thus lose sight of it.

To give thanks to your brother is to appreciate the holy instant, and thus enable its results to be accepted and shared. To attack [judge] your brother is not to lose the [holy] instant, but to make it powerless in its effects.

You have received the holy instant, but you may have established a condition [of attack] in which you cannot use it. As a result, you do not realize that [the holy instant] is with you still. And by cutting yourself off from its expression, you have denied yourself its benefit. You reinforce this every time you attack your brother, for the attack must blind you to yourself. And it is impossible to deny yourself, and to recognize what has been given and received by you. (A Course in Miracles, T-17.V.11:7-10;12:5-6;13. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Love is the way we walk in gratitude. When we accept God’s gift of Love, joy comes with It. When we believe the appearances of the world are real, we are denying God’s Gift. Fear and unhappiness are inevitable while we deny the Love of our true Self.

Forgiveness clears away the barriers that blind us to the awareness of Love’s eternal presence. As we forgive, we let go of the judgments about what our brother seems to be or do. It frees us to appreciate the truth of the Love that our brother is. Judgment has yielded to joining in Love and we experience the joy of the eternal exchange of Love that occurs in the Heaven of God’s Love.

If we choose to judge the world we perceive, appreciation and happiness are impossible. If we choose to let the Holy Spirit help us forgive our judgments, the world becomes a place where Love is recognized everywhere. With consistent practice, the holy instants of forgiveness blend into the real world where forgiveness is complete. We accept God’s eternal welcome into the Heaven of His Love.

Awakening from the Dream of Death

Be glad today how very easily is hell undone. You need but tell yourself:

I am the holy Son of God Himself. I cannot suffer, cannot be in pain; I cannot suffer loss, nor fail to do all that salvation asks.

And in that thought is everything you look on wholly changed.”

All power is given unto you in earth and Heaven. There is nothing that you cannot do.

…let the Son of God awaken from his sleep, and opening his holy eyes, return again to bless the world he made. In error it began, but it will end in the reflection of his holiness. And he will sleep no more and dream of death. Then join with me today. Your glory is the light that saves the world. Do not withhold salvation longer. Look about the world, and see the suffering there. Is not your heart willing to bring your weary brothers rest?

You are the holy Son of God Himself. Remember this, and all the world is free. Remember this, and earth and Heaven are one. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 191, W-pI.191.7;9:1-2;10;11:6-8. See also ACIM Lesson 191 Insights.)

The world wide pandemic of disease and death is the ego’s attempt to prove the “reality” of separation. But it is only a dream which can have no effect on our true Self, the Son of God. The real world reflects our holiness, for it is perceived when forgiveness of the dream is complete. (W-pII.8)

No longer is hell and death believed to be real. We have let go of all investment in the wish for specialness. We have accepted our true Self and claimed the power God has given us to be only Love. With this acceptance we become channels of God’s Love as we join with the Love in every brother.

With our complete forgiveness, all our barriers to Love have been removed. God welcomes us Home and we bring every brother with us for we have remembered he is one with with us. We will use the affirmation in this lesson frequently today to remember we are God’s holy Son.

Resting in the Safety of Love

If you will lay aside the ego’s voice, however loudly it may seem to call; if you will not accept its petty gifts that give you nothing that you really want; if you will listen with an open mind, that has not told you what salvation is; then you will hear the mighty Voice of truth, quiet in power, strong in stillness, and completely certain in Its messages.

Be not afraid today to circumvent the voices of the world. Walk lightly past their meaningless persuasion. Hear them not. Be still today and listen to the truth. Go past all things which do not speak of Him Who holds your happiness within His Hand, held out to you in welcome and in love. Hear only Him today, and do not wait to reach Him longer. The ego always speaks first and loudly. It sends messages of guilt and fear to cloud our mind and foster stress to deafen our inner hearing to God’s Voice. But we do not have to pay attention to the chaos of the ego’s messages of loss and death.

Whenever we lack peace, we need to practice stepping back to focus on the center of peace within. Each time we quiet our mind to welcome peace, we make way for God’s Voice to be heard. His Voice tells us of the reality of our true Self. It speaks to us of changeless Love that unites us with all that is real. When we are willing to pause for an instant and welcome the Holy Spirit’s teaching, we learn that beyond the veil of chaos in the world is the eternal presence of Love.

Love’s changelessness is the home of our safety. It is the retreat to which we return for release from the stress of believing in a world of lack and loss. As we rest in this Love, our view of the world changes. The images of the world fade as we accept Love’s presence. We recognize Love as our true Identity and see It as the Identity we share with every brother. The Love we are joins with the Love in every brother and we both experience Love’s blessing.

Today let’s frequently practice stepping back into our peaceful center to offer the gift of Love to the world. It will be a day of blessing and being blessed.

Bringing Love’s Healing to the World

God is my Father, and He loves His Son.

My true Identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It to give it light. [My true Identity] lights the world as well. It is the gift my Father gave to me; the one as well I give the world. There is no gift but this that can be either given or received. This is reality, and only this. This is illusion’s end. It is the truth.

My Name, O Father, still is known to You. I have forgotten It, and do not know where I am going, who I am, or what it is I do. Remind me, Father, now, for I am weary of the world I see. God is Love and nothing else. He shares this Identity with His Son. Our true Self, God’s Son, is Love. We bring Light to the darkened world of fear by letting the Love we are shine through.

Today let us all join with the Holy Spirit to be beacons of Love’s Light. We maintain our focus on God’s peace at the center of our being. In this Center we dwell in His Love. We remember the one Identity which unifies the world.

We channel the Love of God to the world as we let the Holy Spirit’s vision show us the Presence of Love everywhere. Love’s blessing flows through us and we feel Its healing touch in our minds. It heals the misperceptions of differences and division. With this focus, we bring healing to the world.

Bringing Love’s Peace to the World

I am God’s Son, complete and healed and whole, shining in the reflection of His Love. In me is His creation sanctified and guaranteed eternal life. In me is love perfected, fear impossible, and joy established without opposite. I am the holy home of God Himself. I am the Heaven where His Love resides. I am His holy Sinlessness Itself, for in my purity abides His Own.

The truth of what we are is not for words to speak of nor describe. Yet we can realize our function here, and words can speak of this and teach it, too, if we exem­plify the words in us.

We are the bringers of salvation. We accept our part as saviors of the world, which through our joint forgiveness is redeemed. And [forgiveness], our gift, is therefore given us. We look on everyone as brother, and perceive all things as kindly and as good. We do not seek a function that is past the gate of Heaven. Knowledge will return when we have done our part. The Holy Spirit’s purpose is to teach us to accept our Identity as God’s Son. God’s holiness and Love are ours because He created His Son one with Him.

The world we experience as a body is a dream that denies our oneness with God. If we are willing, the Holy Spirit will teach us how to forgive this denial. As the bridge between God’s Creation and the limited self-identity we made, the Holy Spirit uses symbols in the world to guide us Home. He teaches us to forgive and see past the images of the world to join with the Love that is ever present everywhere.

The first paragraph quoted here reminds us of our true Identity as God’s Son. It bears repeating again and again to help us remember Who we are. Forgiveness clears away the shadows of denial and opens the door to welcome the Light of Love. Today we practice holding our minds open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, for we would bring Love’s peace to the world of fear. This is how we reclaim our true Identity.
