Let the Veil of Appearances Be Lifted

Today it will be given you to feel the peace forgiveness offers, and the joy the lifting of the veil holds out to you.

Before the light you will receive today the world will fade until it disappears, and you will see another world arise you have no words to picture. Now we walk directly into light, and we receive the gifts that have been held in store for us since time began, kept waiting for today.

Retain your gifts in clear awareness as you see the changeless in the heart of change; the light of truth behind appearances. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.122.11:2-12:2;13:4)

The appearance of a world of form is a veil that hides the reality of eternal Love from our awareness. The appearance of forms is the effect of the wish to be separate from our Source and make a world of our own. Forgiveness is letting go of the wish to be separate from our Creator, separate from Love.

As we let the Holy Spirit help us let go of the mistaken images and beliefs that we are alone and separate, the appearances that seemed so real become less believable. The more we accept the Holy Spirit’s gentle lesson that we remain the Love that we were created to be, the thinner the appearances become. The veil becomes increasingly transparent and fades away into the nothingness from which it was made.

Contrary to what the ego would have us believe, the disappearance of the veil reveals everything we really want. It reveals God’s gifts of Love and peace and happiness. It reveals our true Identity, which has always remained safe in the Heart of Love. This is what we truly want and it is already ours, waiting only upon our acceptance. Today we would forgive and accept God’s gifts of Love, peace and happiness.

Opening to Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Steady our feet, our Father. Let our doubts be quiet and our holy minds be still, and speak to us. We have no words to give to You. We would but listen to Your Word, and make it ours. Lead our practicing as does a father lead a little child along a way he does not understand. Yet does he follow, sure that he is safe because his father leads the way for him. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.V.2)

Today our practice is to be like little children and allow our heavenly Father to gently lead us Home, where we belong. Because we are dreaming of being separate, we need our Father’s help to remember where we are eternally safe in the Heart of God.

Today we step back and listen… We let our minds quiet… We open our minds to simple, uncomplicated Love… and let Love’s Thoughts heal our false perceptions… We listen and receive… and we give thanks for the many blessings.

Accepting Our One Reality

Father, our Name is Yours. In It we are united with all living things, and You Who are their one Creator. What we made and call by many different names is but a shadow we have tried to cast across Your Own reality. And we are glad and thankful we were wrong. All our mistakes we give to You, that we may be absolved from all effects our errors seemed to have. And we accept the truth You give, in place of every one of them. Your Name is our salvation and escape from what we made. Your Name unites us in the oneness which is our inheritance and peace. Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.184.15)

We are learning that there is only one Reality, and That we share with God. In this oneness, there can be no opposition, no adversary, no loss, just the eternal flow of Love giving of Itself to Itself. This is a changeless state of peace, of perfect safety. Our function is to welcome what we have perceived as ‘others’ into this oneness we share with God.

Forgiveness dissolves the barriers so that we can recognize once again the changeless truth that we are one Self, united in our Creator. We recognize our brothers as our Friend, the Christ, the one Son of God, which we are together. As we join in this unified Love, all our doing has the purpose of joining in the unity of Love. This is our focus for today.

Forgiveness Brings Freedom

Forgiveness is the only function here, and serves to bring the joy this world denies to every aspect of God’s Son where sin was thought to rule. Perhaps you do not see the role forgiveness plays in ending death and all beliefs that rise from mists of guilt. Sins are beliefs that you impose between your brother and yourself. They limit you to time and place, and give a little space to you, another little space to him. This separating off is symbolized, in your perception, by a body which is clearly separate and a thing apart. Yet what this symbol represents is but your wish to be apart and separate.

Forgiveness takes away what stands between your brother and yourself. It is the wish that you be joined with him, and not apart.

In joyous answer will creation rise within you, to replace the world you see with Heaven, wholly perfect and complete. What is forgiveness but a willingness that truth be true? (A Course in Miracles, T-26.VII.8:5-9:2;10:2-3)

We don’t realize we are imprisoning ourselves when we focus on the errors in our brothers instead of the truth in them. Focusing on the errors in our brothers forms a barrier to the awareness of Love’s presence. Denying Love’s presence brings unhappiness and pain, whether we realize it or not. Forgiveness is the means to free ourselves from this pain.

Forgiveness brings us everything we really want. It brings us back to Heaven, where we see our brother as he truly is. It lifts the veil of illusion that hides the face of Christ. Today our practice is to experience the freedom that forgiveness brings.

Letting the Holy Spirit Heal Our Thoughts

Let Him be Judge as well of everything that seems to happen to you in this world.

He will reinterpret all you see, and all occurrences, each circumstance, and every happening that seems to touch on you in any way from His one frame of reference, wholly unified and sure. And you will see the love beyond the hate, the constancy in change, the pure in sin, and only Heaven’s blessing on the world.

Such is your resurrection, for your life is not a part of anything you see. It stands beyond the body and the world, past every witness for unholiness, within the Holy, holy as Itself. In everyone and everything His Voice would speak to you of nothing but your Self and your Creator, Who is One with Him. So will you see the holy face of Christ in everything, and hear in everything no sound except the echo of God’s Voice. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.151.9:6;11:2-12:4)

It’s time to step down from the judge’s bench. While we believe we are in this world, the witnesses we call upon are false and cannot bring us the truth. As we step down, we make way for the Holy Spirit to take our place as Judge. The witnesses He calls are true. They speak of our holiness, our innocence and our Love. They show us our eternal unity with our Creator. We make way for the verdict of innocence as we let the Holy Spirit be the Judge of all things. This is our practice for today.

The Goal of Joining in Love

The Course tells us to ask of everything, “What is it for?” The answer to this question is only meaningful at the level of Spirit. At the level of form, the purpose of a telephone appears to be to talk to someone at a distance. At the level of Spirit, the only meaningful purpose is to communicate — to join in Love. It is this that must be our goal in every moment if we are to remember our true Self.

Our true Self knows only the unity of Love. Accepting Love’s unity is our only meaningful purpose in all things. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to guide our doing and our thoughts to the goal of joining in Love and extending Love so that we may remember we are Love.

With Gratitude, We See the Christ in Everyone

Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledgment as you.

We will remember Him throughout the day with thankful hearts and loving thoughts for all who meet with us today. For it is thus that we remember Him. And we will say, that we may be reminded of His Son, our holy Self, the Christ in each of us:

I am as God created me.

Let us declare this truth as often as we can. This is the Word of God that sets you free. This is the key that opens up the gate of Heaven, and that lets you enter in the peace of God and His eternity.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.110.9:4;11:1-7)

Today we focus on what is truly important. Today we honor our one true Self. We honor our Self by seeing the Christ in every brother we meet or even think of today. We honor our Self by remembering that we still are as God created us. With these thoughts in our hearts and minds, we return to our Father in gratitude and peace.
