I Place the Future in God’s Hands

If you can see the lesson for today as the deliverance it really is, you will not hesitate to give as much consistent effort as you can, to make it be a part of you. As it becomes a thought that rules your mind, a habit in your problem-solving repertoire, a way of quick reaction to temptation, you extend your learning to the world. And as you learn to see salvation in all things, so will the world perceive that it is saved. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.194.6)

Disappointment and impatience are sure signs that I have attempted to take the future into my own hands. If I’m disappointed, I had an expectation, which is another word for plan. If I am impatient, I must have some idea that something other than what is should be happening — I have my own plan.

When I am willing to let go of my plans, which are always built upon the past, my mind is open to Holy Spirit’s lead. The Holy Spirit always sees the present moment as an opportunity to help me accept changeless Love as my one Reality. In the changeless Love of now, I am at peace, for change is impossible. This is the gift that is offered me when I am willing to place the future in God’s Hands.

Today I will be vigilant for signs that I am planning on my own and let them remind me to let them go and place the future in God’s Hands.

This important message reminds me to open to the eternal present in the Mind of God. Peace is now. Love is now. There is no future and no past. There is only the eternal present in God. And for this I give thanks.
