In Truth, We Rest in God

We ask for rest today, and quietness unshaken by the world’s appearances. We ask for peace and stillness, in the midst of all the turmoil born of clashing dreams. We ask for safety and for happiness, although we seem to look on danger and on sorrow. And we have the thought that will answer our asking with what we request.

“I rest in God.” This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the happiness you seek. “I rest in God.” This thought has power to wake the sleeping truth in you, whose vision sees beyond appearances to that same truth in everyone and everything there is.” (A Course in Miracles W pI.109.1;2:1-4)

As we willingly go into that inner place of quiet and peace, all thoughts of conflict disappear… We see that every brother resides in God’s Light with us… We know this is our Home, where we live in perfect safety and eternal Love… The peace, gentleness and happiness we feel we extend to the world… We receive the truth and extend the truth that the whole Sonship rests in God eternally… And we give thanks…

The thought, “I rest in God,” is a thought of peace, for God is peace. It is a thought that reminds us of our natural state. It is a thought that redirects our attention from a world of separation, with its conflict and guilt, to our unity in God. These four simple words have power to heal our minds of all illusions. Our practice today is to remind ourselves frequently that we rest in God and allow time to experience this rest.
