Remembering We Live in God’s Love

²How can a meaningless world exist if God did not create it? ³He is the Source of all meaning, and everything that is real is in His Mind. ⁴It is in my mind too, because He created it with me. ⁵Why should I continue to suffer from the effects of my own insane thoughts, when the perfection of creation is my home? ⁶Let me remember the power of my decision, and recognize where I really abide.”

“²Whatever I see reflects my thoughts. ³It is my thoughts that tell me where I am and what I am. ⁴The fact that I see a world in which there is suffering and loss and death shows me that I am seeing only the representation of my insane thoughts, and am not allowing my real thoughts to cast their beneficent light on what I see. ⁵Yet God’s way is sure. ⁶The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. ⁷My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him.” (A Course in Miracles, W-53.4:2-6;5:2-7. We have constant feedback in what we believe. When we believe we are separate, we rely on what the body’s eyes see. We interpret what the body’s eyes show us in keeping with the ego thought system.

But when we believe we are as God created us, the thoughts in our mind are based on the oneness of Love. We see only Love and extend only Love. We experience the peace and joy that are Love’s attributes.

In every moment we have a choice about what we believe we are. Do we want to continue to see death and destruction? Or do we want to experience the Love, peace and joy of our true Self which dwells in the Love of God.

Today we join with the Holy Spirit and accept His help to see with Love’s vision. We will recognize that we share God’s Will for us. We Live with Him in Love.

Forgiveness Set Us Free form Fear

¹⁰Forgiveness is illusion that is answer to the rest.

Forgiveness sweeps all other dreams away, and though it is itself a dream, it breeds no others. ²All illusions save this one must multiply a thousandfold. ³But this is where illusions end. ⁴Forgiveness is the end of dreams, because it is a dream of waking. ⁵It is not itself the truth. ⁶Yet does it point to where the truth must be, and gives direction with the certainty of God Himself. ⁷It is a dream in which the Son of God awakens to his Self and to his Father, knowing They are one.

Forgiveness is the only road that leads out of disaster, past all suffering, and finally away from death. ²How could there be another way, when this one is the plan of God Himself? (A Course in Miracles, W-198.2:10–4:2. See also ACIM Lesson 198 Insights.)

Perceptions always see differences. This is why perception does not exist in the oneness of Love, where all is equal and no differences exist. Our perceptions of differences are healed through forgiveness.

The Holy Spirit offers us true perception, which always shows us the unity of Love beyond perceived differences. As we welcome the Holy Spirit’s true perception, we learn that what we thought needed forgiveness did not really happen.

Nothing can occur to change God’s one Son. In this recognition we learn we are safe and we are loved. Where conflict was perceived, our mind rests in peace through forgiveness. We are grateful for the Holy Spirit’s lessons in forgiveness, for they set us free from fear.

A Way to Remember We Are Love

³To give is to receive. ⁴Today we will attempt to offer peace to everyone, and see how quickly peace returns to us. ⁵Light is tranquility, and in that peace is vision given us, and we can see.

So we begin the practice periods with the instruction for today, and say:

²To give and to receive are one in truth.
³I will receive what I am giving now.

⁴Then close your eyes, and for five minutes think of what you would hold out to everyone, to have it yours. ⁵You might, for instance, say:

⁶To everyone I offer quietness.
⁷To everyone I offer peace of mind.
⁸To everyone I offer gentleness.

Say each one slowly and then pause a while, expecting to receive the gift you gave. ²And it will come to you in the amount in which you gave it. (A Course in Miracles, W-108.7:3–9:3. See also ACIM Lesson 108 Insights.)

It is depressing to believe we are alone and unloved. But this is the inevitable result of identifying the ego, which is the denial of Love. But we are not the ego.

It can be helpful to think of all the attributes we associate with Love. We can remind ourselves that Love is kind, helpful, happy and peaceful. Love always blesses by giving of Itself.

We can practice this recognition with today’s exercise. In our mind we can focus our attention on someone we think of as a friend. We think of what we would like to give them mentally. As we give them kindness, we will experience it. As we offer them peace, we experience peace.

As we strengthen this giving and receiving, we can think of someone with whom we are not comfortable and offer them these loving gifts. Again we will experience the gifts coming back to us. This practice will take us out of depression and return us to the joy that comes with recognizing we are Love and nothing else.

Learning We Are Love and Nothing Else

I do not know what anything is for.

Purpose is meaning. ²Today’s idea explains why nothing you see means anything.

You perceive the world and everything in it as meaningful in terms of ego goals. ²These goals have nothing to do with your own best interests, because the ego is not you. ³This false identification makes you incapable of understanding what anything is for. ⁴As a result, you are bound to misuse it. ⁵When you believe this, you will try to withdraw the goals you have assigned to the world, instead of attempting to reinforce them.

Another way of describing the goals you now perceive is to say that they are all concerned with “personal” interests. ²Since you have no personal interests, your goals are really concerned with nothing. ³In cherishing them, therefore, you have no goals at all. ⁴And thus you do not know what anything is for.

It is crucial to your learning to be willing to give up the goals you have established for everything. ²The recognition that they are meaningless, rather than “good” or “bad,” is the only way to accomplish this. (A Course in Miracles, W-25.1:1-2;2,3;5:1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 25 Insights.)

An initial step to finding peace of mind is to acknowledge that we do not know what anything is for. With this recognition, we are open to learning a new purpose. This “new” purpose is actually the only purpose we can ever have as God’s Son. God gave us His purpose: To extend Love and nothing else.

When something disturbs our peace of mind, we can remind ourselves that we do not know what the situation is for. Then we can ask the Holy Spirit, “What is this for?” With an open mind, we will be led to extend Love in a form that is helpful in the world. Love answers every call for Love. The call may appear to be coming from another, but it always starts with our own call for Love, represented by our misinterpretation of the situation.

As we let our mind be opened to answers for calls for Love, our minds are healed. We learn that we are Love and nothing else. We accept our unity with God’s Love.

Welcoming Holy Spirit’s True Perception

God is my Source. I cannot see apart from Him.

Perception is not an attribute of God. ²His is the realm of knowledge. ³Yet He has created the Holy Spirit as the Mediator between perception and knowledge. ⁴Without this link with God, perception would have replaced knowledge forever in your mind. ⁵With this link with God, perception will become so changed and purified that it will lead to knowledge. ⁶That is [perception’s] function as the Holy Spirit sees it. ⁷Therefore, that is its function in truth.

In God you cannot see. ²Perception has no function in God, and does not exist. ³Yet in salvation, which is the undoing of what never was, perception has a mighty purpose. ⁴Made by the Son of God for an unholy purpose, it must become the means for the restoration of his holiness to his awareness. ⁵Perception has no meaning. ⁶Yet does the Holy Spirit give it a meaning very close to God’s. ⁷Healed perception becomes the means by which the Son of God forgives his brother, and thus forgives himself.

You cannot see apart from God because you cannot be apart from God. ²Whatever you do you do in Him, because whatever you think, you think with His Mind. ³If vision is real, and it is real to the extent to which it shares the Holy Spirit’s purpose, then you cannot see apart from God. In truth, we cannot be apart from God. But in this world we seem to be disconnected from Him. We seek for His Love, and fear His judgment. Yet God does not judge. He knows us as an extension of Himself, one and the same.

While we believe we exist in this world as a separate identity, we need help to forgive our misperceptions. This help is the function of the Holy Spirit. He has been given us to heal our conflicted mind. His true perception shows us that what we believe happened never occurred in truth. We remain irreversibly united with our Father, one with Him and every brother.

The replacement of misperception with true perception is the forgiveness we need to awaken to our true Self. With true perception, we see the Love that is our brother, and recognize it as our own.  We give thanks to the Holy Spirit for His help and dedicate today to welcoming His true perception.

Welcoming Love’s True Perception

You have been told to bring the darkness to the light, and guilt to holiness. ²And you have also been told that error must be corrected at its source. ³Therefore, it is the tiny part of yourself, the little thought [of guilt] that seems split off and separate, the Holy Spirit needs.

³Its thinness and transparency are not apparent until you see the light behind it. ⁴And then you see [guilt] as a fragile veil before the light.

This world of light, this circle of brightness is the real world, where guilt meets with forgiveness. ²Here the world outside is seen anew, without the shadow of guilt upon it. ³Here are you forgiven, for here you have forgiven everyone. ⁴Here is the new perception, where everything is bright and shining with innocence, washed in the waters of forgiveness, and cleansed of every evil thought you laid upon it. ⁵Here there is no attack upon the Son of God, and you are welcome. ⁶Here is your innocence, waiting to clothe you and protect you, and make you ready for the final step in the journey inward. ⁷Here are the dark and heavy garments of guilt laid by, and gently replaced by purity and love. Guilt is the thought behind all misery and pain. It is built upon a mistaken belief that we have succeeded in separating from the Love that created us. This could never be true except in dreams. We remain as God created us.

While we believe we are in the dream, we need the means to let go of our mistaken beliefs. We have been given a Helper to help us forgive the mistaken thoughts that hide the eternal presence of Love.

Today we pray for Holy Spirit’s help to heal our fear based thoughts. As we hold His hand, we look with Him upon our guilt and fear and welcome His Light which reveals their nothingness. Each time we judge or interpret anything in the dream, we offer to Him for His purification.

The Light He shines reveals the Love beyond the judgment that seemed to separate us from our Source. As we accept His help, we welcome the Light of Love in the real world. We awaken to the Self Love created us to be.

Learning to See the Love That Unites Us

God is in everything I see because God is in my mind.

The idea for today is the springboard for vision. ²From this idea will the world open up before you, and you will look upon it and see in it what you have never seen before. ³Nor will what you saw before be even faintly visible to you.

Today we are trying to use a new kind of “projection.” ²We are not attempting to get rid of what we do not like by seeing it outside. ³Instead, we are trying to see in the world what is in our minds, and what we want to recognize is there. ⁴Thus, we are trying to join with what we see, rather than keeping it apart from us. ⁵That is the fundamental difference between vision and the way you see.

Real vision is not only unlimited by space and distance, but it does not depend on the body’s eyes at all. ²The mind is its only source. (A Course in Miracles, W-30.1–2;5:1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 30 Insights.)

The body’s eyes cannot show us the truth. Real vision comes from the Mind of Love. It sees only Love because only Love is real. This vision shows us our eternal connection with the truth in every brother and with our Source.

When we accept real vision in our mind, we will recognize the Love that is in everything we see. The body and what it sees are not real in truth. We need to learn what the body’s eyes see is secondary. We need to learn to let our inner vision from the mind of Love be primary. This shift in focus comes as we forgive the misperceptions our body’s eyes show us.

Nothing the body’s show us is real so they have no effect on our Self That is God’s Son. Today we welcome Love’s vision as we see we are one with every brother.
