Remembering God’s Identity Is Our Own

God’s Name is holy, but no holier than yours. ²To call upon His Name is but to call upon your own.

²Say His Name, and you invite the angels to surround the ground on which you stand, and sing to you as they spread out their wings to keep you safe, and shelter you from every worldly thought that would intrude upon your holiness.

Repeat God’s Name, and all the world responds by laying down illusions. ²Every dream the world holds dear has suddenly gone by, and where it seemed to stand you find a star; a miracle of grace.

Repeat God’s Name, and you acknowledge Him as sole Creator of reality. ²And you acknowledge also that His Son is part of Him, creating in His Name. ³Sit silently, and let His Name become the all-encompassing idea that holds your mind completely. ⁴Let all thoughts be still except this one. ⁵And to all other thoughts respond with this, and see God’s Name replace the thousand little names you gave your thoughts, not realizing that there is one Name for all there is, and all that there will be. A name is used to establish and refer to an identity. When we call upon God’s Name, we are calling upon His Identity. As God’s Son, we share His Identity. When we call upon God’s Identity, we are acknowledging our own. The more we identity with God as our Identity, the more we will see Love everywhere. Love is all that is real.

Today we will keep in our thoughts that Love is our Identity, and the Identity of all that we look upon in truth. In Love we see only oneness. Conflict and differences do not exist. We are perfectly safe in the changelessness of Love. The Love we are automatically joins with the Love that is the Reality of everyone. We are at peace when we recognize God’s Identity as our own.

Letting the Light Within Enlighten Our World

The Holy Spirit is described as the remaining Communication Link between God and His separated Sons. ²In order to fulfill this special function the Holy Spirit has assumed a dual function. ³He knows because He is part of God; He perceives because He was sent to save humanity. ⁴He is the great correction principle; the bringer of true perception, the inherent power of the vision of Christ. ⁵He is the light in which the forgiven world is perceived; in which the face of Christ alone is seen. ⁶He never forgets the Creator or His creation. ⁷He never forgets the Son of God. ⁸He never forgets you. ⁹And He brings the Love of your Father to you in an eternal shining that will never be obliterated because God has put it there.

The Holy Spirit abides in the part of your mind that is part of the Christ Mind. ²He represents your Self and your Creator, Who are One. ³He speaks for God and also for you, being joined with Both. ⁴And therefore it is He Who proves Them One. ⁵He seems to be a Voice, for in that form He speaks God’s Word to you. ⁶He seems to be a Guide through a far country, for you need that form of help. ⁷He seems to be whatever meets the needs you think you have. ⁸But He is not deceived when you perceive your self entrapped in needs you do not have. ⁹It is from these He would deliver you. ¹⁰It is from these that He would make you safe. (A Course in Miracles, C-6.3–4)

God has placed in us, His Son, the Light of His eternal Love. His Light can never be extinguished because It is all of Reality. In every moment this Light is available to us to enlighten our world with true perception.

When we engage in the ego thought system of separation, we hide from this Light. By hiding from the Light, we perceive the images that represent our wish for specialness and differences. They are not real. But in any moment we can call upon the Light to shine in our mind and reveal true perception.

We do this by pausing and letting ourselves sink into the quiet peace within. In that peace the presence of changeless Love is revealed. That Light shows us that appearances in the world have no effect on our true Self. We are still God’s Son as He created us. The Light in us shines equally on our brothers. In this Light we see our unity with all. We are safe in God’s Love, along with every brother. And we give thanks.

Welcoming Christ’s Dream of Forgiveness

This is the Holy Spirit’s single gift; the treasure house to which you can appeal with perfect certainty for all the things that can contribute to your happiness. ²All are laid here already. ³All can be received but for the asking. ⁴Here the door is never locked, and no one is denied his least request or his most urgent need. ⁵There is no sickness not already healed, no lack unsatisfied, no need unmet within this golden treasury of Christ.

⁴No one will be turned away from this new home, where his salvation waits. ⁵No one is stranger to him. ⁶No one asks for anything of him except the gift of his acceptance of his welcoming.

Behold the store of miracles set out for you to give. ²Are you not worth the gift, when God appointed it be given you? ³Judge not God’s Son, but follow in the way He has established. ⁴Christ has dreamed the dream of a forgiven world. ⁵It is His gift, whereby a sweet transition can be made from death to life; from hopelessness to hope. ⁶Let us an instant dream with Him. ⁷His dream awakens us to truth. ⁸His vision gives the means for a return to our unlost and everlasting sanctity in God. To dream with Christ is to dream the forgiven dream. Forgiveness clears away our barriers to Love’s presence. It welcomes the gift of Love that has been given us for eternity. This Love was never withdrawn, but only hidden by our wish for specialness. The wish for specialness leads to thoughts of fear and guilt. The oneness of Love cannot be experienced when differences are cherished.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit’s help to heal our fear-based thoughts. For we would welcome Christ’s vision which shows us a forgiven world. In this world we accept the gifts of peace and joy that Love has always offered us. As we accept these gifts, we extend them to our brothers, knowing we are one with them in Love.

Welcoming the Experience of Eternal Love

⁷What you think you are is a belief to be undone. ⁸But what you really are must be revealed to you. ⁹The belief you are a body calls for correction, being a mistake. ¹⁰The truth of what you are calls on the strength in you to bring to your awareness what the mistake conceals.

²You need to be aware of what the Holy Spirit uses to replace the image of a body in your mind. ³You need to feel something to put your faith in, as you lift it from the body. ⁴You need a real experience of something else, something more solid and more sure; more worthy of your faith, and really there.

…allow… your mistaken thoughts about your attributes to be corrected, and their opposites to take their place. ³Say, for example:

⁴I am not weak, but strong.
⁵I am not helpless, but all powerful.
⁶I am not limited, but unlimited. (A Course in Miracles, W-91.6:7-10;7:2-4;8:2-6. See also ACIM Lesson 91 Insights.)

When we are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s help, He leads us to a feeling experience which teaches us that we are indeed strong. We experience the comfort and sense of safety that comes as Love guides our perceptions. With each experience brought by the Holy Spirit, our faith in our true Reality grows. Our self-image as a body fades.

Today we practice stepping back from our perceptions of the world. We relax into the peace within and ask the Holy Spirit to lead us to experience the eternal presence of God’s changeless Love.

Stepping Back and Following Holy Spirit’s Lead

Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. ²It does not pardon sins and make them real. ³It sees there was no sin. ⁴And in that view are all your sins forgiven. ⁵What is sin, except a false idea about God’s Son? ⁶Forgiveness merely sees its falsity, and therefore lets it go. ⁷What then is free to take its place is now the Will of God.

An unforgiving thought is one which makes a judgment that it will not raise to doubt, although it is not true. ²The mind is closed, and will not be released.

Forgiveness, on the other hand, is still, and quietly does nothing. ²It offends no aspect of reality, nor seeks to twist it to appearances it likes. ³It merely looks, and waits, and judges not.

Do nothing, then, and let forgiveness show you what to do, through Him Who is your Guide, your Savior and Protector, strong in hope, and certain of your ultimate success. ²He has forgiven you already, for such is His function, given Him by God. ³Now must you share His function, and forgive whom He has saved, whose sinlessness He sees, and whom He honors as the Son of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.1.1:1–2:2;4:1-3;5)

The ego always wants to be in charge. As long as we put it in charge, we remain trapped in the ego through judgment and attack. We can break out of its trap with true forgiveness. Our role in forgiveness is to step back and not judge. Then wait for the Holy Spirit’s guidance for what to do or say. He will show us the innocence that He sees in the Son of God, knowing he remains in union with God.

Today we choose to forgive and do nothing on our own. We let the Holy Spirit guide us in the way of Love.

Remembering We Live in Love’s Presence

A happy outcome to all things is sure.

God’s promises make no exceptions. ²And He guarantees that only joy can be the final outcome found for everything. ³Yet it is up to us when this is reached; how long we let an alien will appear to be opposing His. ⁴And while we think this will is real, we will not find the end He has appointed as the outcome of all problems we perceive, all trials we see, and every situation that we meet. ⁵Yet is the ending certain. ⁶For God’s Will is done in earth and Heaven. ⁷We will seek and we will find according to His Will, which guarantees that our will is done.

We thank You, Father, for Your guarantee of only happy outcomes in the end. ²Help us not interfere, and so delay the happy endings You have promised us for every problem that we can perceive; for every trial we think we still must meet. Everyone in this world is searching for happiness. But we will not find it as long as we accept where the ego tells us to look for it. It is not helpful to trust a guide whose singular goal is to avoid happiness. It masks its goal in images that seem to offer momentary pleasure. But since these images are not real, they will not bring us what we seek.

Fortunately we have been given a Guide Whose mission is to lead us to the only Source of true happiness — the Love of God. This Guide is always with us, but we need to be willing to step back from the world of images. We pause and ask for help to reach the peace of God within. It is always there for us. As we ask for help, we open our mind to receive the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

He will bring us His vision that shows us the permanence of Love beyond the impermanence of the images of the world. With His help we will overlook appearances and realize that we live in God’s Love, where we find joy without limit. God guarantees that this joy will never leave His Love. We are grateful He has given us a Guide to remember we live in Love’s presence.

Accepting Our Reality in God

What makes this world seem real except your own denial of the truth that lies beyond? ²What but your thoughts of misery and death obscure the perfect happiness and the eternal life your Father wills for you? ³And what could hide what cannot be concealed except illusion? ⁴What could keep from you what you already have except your choice to see it not, denying it is there?

The Thought of God created you. ²It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from it an instant. ³It belongs to you. ⁴By it you live. ⁵It is your Source of life, holding you one with it, and everything is one with you because it left you not. ⁶The Thought of God protects you, cares for you, makes soft your resting place and smooth your way, lighting your mind with happiness and love. ⁷Eternity and everlasting life shine in your mind, because the Thought of God has left you not, and still abides with you.

Who would deny his safety and his peace, his joy, his healing and his peace of mind, his quiet rest, his calm awakening, if he but recognized where they abide?

We count on God, and not upon ourselves, to give us certainty. ²And in His Name we practice as His Word directs we do. ³His sureness lies beyond our every doubt. ⁴His Love remains beyond our every fear. ⁵The Thought of Him is still beyond all dreams and in our minds, according to His Will. We have taught ourselves to believe we are separate. This belief is manifested in a dream where everything is different, nothing is permanent. It is a dream of uncertainty and fear. But we can wake up from this dream. We can learn to accept what we have always had — our Identity in God.

Our true Identity is one with God, held safely in His Love. Every brother is there with us, safe and certain of our oneness in Love.

Today we focus on the Thought of God that is our Reality. We accept His safety and certainty, His peace and joy. We accept the Life we live in Him.
