The Choice That Leads to Heaven

The world is false perception. ²It is born of error, and it has not left its source. ³It will remain no longer than the thought that gave it birth is cherished. ⁴When the thought of separation has been changed to one of true forgiveness, will the world be seen in quite another light; and one which leads to truth, where all the world must disappear and all its errors vanish. ⁵Now its source has gone, and its effects are gone as well.

The world was made as an attack on God. ²It symbolizes fear. ³And what is fear except love’s absence? ⁴Thus the world was meant to be a place where God could enter not, and where His Son could be apart from Him.

As sight was made to lead away from truth, it can be redirected. ²Sounds become the call for God, and all perception can be given a new purpose by the One Whom God appointed Savior to the world. ³Follow His light, and see the world as He beholds it. ⁴Hear His Voice alone in all that speaks to you. ⁵And let Him give you peace and certainty… (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.3.1:1–2:4;4:1-5)

Our experience in this world denies our reality. God’s Love is not recognized in this world. Love is one and separation does not exist in Love.

We are being called to welcome God’s Voice which teaches us to remember how to see the world truly. As we let our perceptions be transformed with the Holy Spirit’s help, the world of fear and hate is transformed into Heaven’s Love.

We can choose to give priority to this Voice. We just need to be willing to see the world through eyes of Love. With this vision, conflict will be recognized as meaningless. Differences will fade as the Light of Love fills our mind. Our brothers will be recognized as one with us in Love. We will learn to see a forgiven world which brings us to Heaven’s open door.

We choose Love today.

Accepting Our God Given Destiny

If God’s Will for you is complete peace and joy, unless you experience only this you must be refusing to acknowledge His Will. ²His Will does not vacillate, being changeless forever. ³When you are not at peace it can only be because you do not believe you are in Him. ⁴Yet He is All in all. ⁵His peace is complete, and you must be included in it. ⁶His laws govern you because they govern everything. ⁷You cannot exempt yourself from His laws, although you can disobey them. ⁸Yet if you do, and only if you do, you will feel lonely and helpless, because you are denying yourself everything.

I am come as a light into a world that does deny itself everything. ²It does this simply by dissociating itself from everything. ³It is therefore an illusion of isolation, maintained by fear of the same loneliness that is its illusion. ⁴I said that I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. ⁵That is why I am the light of the world. ⁶If I am with you in the loneliness of the world, the loneliness is gone. ⁷You cannot maintain the illusion of loneliness if you are not alone. ⁸My purpose, then, is still to overcome the world. ⁹I do not attack it, but my light must dispel it because of what it is. ¹⁰Light does not attack darkness, but it does shine it away. ¹¹If my light goes with you everywhere, you shine it away with me. ¹²The light becomes ours, and you cannot abide in darkness any more than darkness can abide wherever you go. ¹³The remembrance of me is the remembrance of yourself, and of Him Who sent me to you. God created us, His Son, to be with Him in complete peace and joy. This is our destiny. If we experience anything other than peace and joy, we have turned away from our destiny. We have denied God’s gifts. God has not changed His Mind about His Creation; He as not withdrawn His gifts.

When we identify with the ego’s wish for specialness, we are denying our destiny. Unhappiness and loneliness are inevitable with this identification. But we can change our mind. To return to our destiny, we need help from outside the closed ego thought system. God gave us this Help in our mind.

We can turn to the Holy Spirit in any moment. We can welcome the Holy Spirit’s Voice by allowing ourselves to step back from the chaos of the world. His Voice is heard in quiet. In quietness, the Holy Spirit will help us see past the images of loneliness and differences to the unity of Love.  As we learn to see past the forms in the world, we recognize that we live in Love. We live in peace and happiness.

Today we choose the Holy Spirit’s guidance by pausing frequently to quiet our minds. He will bring Light to our dark thoughts to dispel them. And we will see our brothers and our world through the eyes of Love.

Our Safety Is in Love

Today I claim the gifts forgiveness gives.

I will not wait another day to find the treasures that my Father offers me. ²Illusions are all vain, and dreams are gone even while they are woven out of thoughts that rest on false perceptions. ³Let me not accept such meager gifts again today. ⁴God’s Voice is offering the peace of God to all who hear and choose to follow Him. ⁵This is my choice today. ⁶And so I go to find the treasures God has given me.

I seek but the eternal. ²For Your Son can be content with nothing less than this. ³What, then, can be his solace but what You are offering to his bewildered mind and frightened heart, to give him certainty and bring him peace? ⁴Today I would behold my brother sinless. ⁵This Your Will for me, for so will I behold my sinlessness. There is only one way to find peace of mind. We must forgive illusions of differences. We must accept the Love that unites us with our Father and every brother. This is the gift forgiveness brings. It clears away the false images that hide the eternal Love that never left us.

Our safety is in Love. Love never attacks because It sees only Itself everywhere. Today we accept Love’s blessings as we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to forgive our mistaken perceptions and welcome the truth.

Transforming Our Self-Image

My mind is part of God’s. I am very holy.

Today’s idea does not describe the way you see yourself now. ²It does, however, describe what vision will show you. ³It is difficult for anyone who thinks he is in this world to believe this of himself. ⁴Yet the reason he thinks he is in this world is because he does not believe it.

You will believe that you are part of where you think you are. ²That is because you surround yourself with the environment you want. ³And you want it to protect the image of yourself that you have made. ⁴The image is part of this environment. ⁵What you see while you believe you are in it is seen through the eyes of the image. ⁶This is not vision. ⁷Images cannot see.

As often as possible during the day, pick up a specific attribute or attributes you are ascribing to yourself at the time and apply: [My mind is part of God’s. I am very holy.] (A Course in Miracles, W-35.1–2;9:1. See also ACIM Lesson 35 Insights.)

We need to change our mind about what we believe we are. We have convinced ourselves that we are a body, vulnerable to outside forces, and capable of harm. We see ourselves as anything but holy, because we do not see ourselves as one with God.

We need to practice accepting a different thought about what we are. When we remind ourselves that our mind is part of God’s, we are stepping back from the belief that we are separate. And if our mind is part of God’s, we must be holy because He is.

In our oneness with God, we have all of His attributes. We are loving and kind; peaceful and helpful. As we change our mind about what we believe we are, the need to protect and defend is dispelled. It is replaced by the joy of extending Love. This practice will lead to a transformed self-image that acknowledges the truth that we are one with God.

Being a Carrier of Love

If you will lay aside the ego’s voice, however loudly it may seem to call; if you will not accept its petty gifts that give you nothing that you really want; if you will listen with an open mind, that has not told you what salvation is; then you will hear the mighty Voice of truth, quiet in power, strong in stillness, and completely certain in Its messages.

Listen, and hear your Father speak to you through His appointed Voice, which silences the thunder of the meaningless, and shows the way to peace to those who cannot see. ²Be still today and listen to the truth.

…reinforce your choice to hear and to receive the Word by this reminder, given to yourself as often as is possible today:

³Let me be still and listen to the truth.
⁴I am the messenger of God today, my voice is His, to give what I receive. (A Course in Miracles, W-106.1:1–2:2;10:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 106 Insights.)

We make a choice today between Love and fear. The voice of fear speaks loudly in our mind. It tells us of chaos and conflict. The Voice of Love speaks to us in stillness. It tells us with certainty that we are safe and there is no conflict in Its peace.

Today we remind ourselves to quiet our mind and listen to the truth. In our quiet mind, all seeming conflicts are resolved. The Light of Love shines away dark shadows of fear. In this stillness, we hear the Voice for God tell us of the Love that joins us with every brother. His Voice guides us on the path of Love. We become Love’s messenger. We carry that message with quiet joy and awaken to the Truth.

Celebrating Our Life in God

There is one life, and that I share with God.

…the idea of death takes many forms. ⁴It is the one idea which underlies all feelings that are not supremely happy. ⁵It is the alarm to which you give response of any kind that is not perfect joy. ⁶All sorrow, loss, anxiety and suffering and pain, even a little sigh of weariness, a slight discomfort or the merest frown, acknowledge death. ⁷And thus deny you live.

Let us today be children of the truth, and not deny our holy heritage. ²Our life is not as we imagine it. ³Who changes life because he shuts his eyes, or makes himself what he is not because he sleeps, and sees in dreams an opposite to what he is? ⁴We will not ask for death in any form today. ⁵Nor will we let imagined opposites to life abide even an instant where the Thought of life eternal has been set by God Himself. We are entitled to perfect happiness. It is God’s gift to us, His Son. God sees us all united as His one Son.

When we are not supremely happy; when our perfect peace is disturbed by the tiniest ripple, we have accepted a false identity that denies our Reality. We experience it as life, but it denies the Life we live in God. And so it is not true.

We celebrate the Life we live in God by accepting Christ’s vision to see the world through forgiving eyes. With this vision, Love’s eternal presence is acknowledged. The joy of extending Love is our Life. Our minds are at peace and our hearts overflow with gratitude.

Letting Our Light Shine in the World

A teacher of God is anyone who chooses to be one. ²His qualifications consist solely in this; somehow, somewhere he has made a deliberate choice in which he did not see his interests as apart from someone else’s. ³Once he has done that, his road is established and his direction is sure. ⁴A light has entered the darkness. ⁵It may be a single light, but that is enough. ⁶He has entered an agreement with God even if he does not yet believe in Him. ⁷He has become a bringer of salvation. ⁸He has become a teacher of God.

⁹Everyone will answer in the end, but the end can be a long, long way off. ¹⁰It is because of this that the plan of the teachers was established. ¹¹Their function is to save time. ¹²Each one begins as a single light, but with the Call at its center it is a light that cannot be limited. ¹³And each one saves a thousand years of time as the world judges it.

There is a course for every teacher of God. ²The form of the course varies greatly. ³So do the particular teaching aids involved. ⁴But the content of the course never changes. ⁵Its central theme is always, “God’s Son is guiltless, and in his innocence is his salvation.” ⁶It can be taught by actions or thoughts; in words or soundlessly; in any language or in no language; in any place or time or manner. ⁷It does not matter who the teacher was before he heard the Call. ⁸He has become a savior by his answering. ⁹He has seen someone else as himself. ¹⁰He has therefore found his own salvation and the salvation of the world. ¹¹In his rebirth is the world reborn. (A Course in Miracles, M-1.1;2:9-13;3)

We bring Light to the world when we recognize, for at least an instant, our oneness with a brother. This is a recognition of the reality that we are all one Self, united in Love. As we see that, in truth, our best interests are the same for everyone, our true Self is interested only in extending the oneness of God’s Love.

We make way for this recognition by forgiving our judgments that tell us that we are separate and alone. As we let the Holy Spirit teach us to see our brothers truly, the Light we are shines more brightly. We let the Light of Love flow freely from our mind to the unity of all minds. In this unity we are certain of our safety. We teach unity with our thoughts, our actions and our words.
