What Is Time for?

Holy Spirit, we give our time to You today. We are willing for You to direct all our doing — what to do, where to go, what to day and to whom. We desire only to be truly helpful and we would decide nothing on our own. We would let Your Love and peace lead us through this day and share it with all whom we meet or think of today. Thus will we teach and learn that we are Love and nothing else.

Letting Go of Specialness

You are alike to God as God is to Himself. He is not special, for He would not keep one part of what He is unto Himself, not given to His Son but kept for Him alone. And it is this you fear, for if He is not special, then He willed His Son to be like Him, and your brother is like you. Not special, but possessed of everything, including you. Give him but what he has, remembering God gave Himself to you and your brother in equal love, that both might share the universe with Him Who chose that love could never be divided, and kept separate from what it is and must forever be.” (A Course in Miracles, T-24.II.10:3-7). It is helpful to remember that every brother is God’s pure Love… It is helpful to remember that our special little kingdoms are nothing but illusions of specialness… We let our minds be healed as we open to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing every brother — that he is still God’s pure Love as he was created, and not the vulnerable and different image he as made of himself…

As we are willing to see every brother as he truly is — being all of God’s Love — we are also brought to the healing awareness that we are all of God’s Love… That is why the Course tells us that every brother is our savior. As we see past specialness to the Christ in every brother, we are helped to see the Christ in ourselves and see that we are one.

With Holy Spirit’s help, we are able to see that our separate tiny kingdoms of uniqueness are nothing and nowhere. We are able to see that we “are alike to God as God is to Himself.” We are able to see that Love could never be divided, but all inclusive, possessed of all Love.

I Will There Be Light

Idle wishes and grievances are partners or co-makers in picturing the world you see. The wishes of the ego gave rise to [the world], and the ego’s need for grievances, which are necessary to maintain [the world], peoples it with figures that seem to attack you and call for “righteous” judgment.

Your picture of the world can only mirror what is within. The source of neither light nor darkness can be found without. Grievances darken your mind, and you look out on a darkened world. Forgiveness lifts the darkness, reasserts your will, and lets you look upon a world of light.

Above all else, you want the freedom to remember Who you really are. Today it is the ego that stands powerless before your will. Your will is free, and nothing can prevail against it.

…tell yourself with gentle firmness and quiet certainty:

Symptoms of grievances include disappointment, frustration, irritation, discouragement, sadness, depression, guilt and fear. Some of these symptoms seem to be more tolerable than others. Yet they are all equally dark because they deny the Presence of the Light of Love. None of these symptoms can be present in Love because Love’s attributes are peace and joy.

To let in the Light of Love, we must forgive our grievances. By the grace of God, we have been given the Holy Spirit in our minds, Which is the means to free us from our grievances. The daily, moment by moment practice of bringing all of the thoughts with the symptoms of grievances to the Holy Spirit with willingness to accept His help to see them truly through the eyes of Love is how we free our will. As we free our will we realize that our only true will is the Will we share with God. His Will for us is perfect happiness and therefore it is our Will as well. With this practice today, we open to our Will that we be the Light that we were created to be.

Giving Our Day to God

Giving my day to God is the same as giving my day to the truth. This world of separation is a defense against God. Today I would practice refraining from defending against the truth. Today I would let my mind be quiet. Today I would practice opening to my real Life, the Life I live in God eternally. Today I would practice opening my mind and listening to the Holy Spirit, Which is my bridge of return to the truth.

I give this day to recognizing only God is real. I would let myself be carried by the Wings of Peace. I would let my perceptions be transformed so that what is not true disappears and falls away into the nothingness that it is.

Today I would take all thoughts of apprehension or worry to God. God is Where my true safety lies. I would return to the one Identity That is real. I open my mind to God and let all false ideas of division fall away. The truth is true and nothing else is true. God is real and nothing else is real. I give this day to God. Sharing Our Father’s Purpose

Think what is given those who share their Father’s purpose, and who know that it is theirs. They want for nothing. Sorrow of any kind is inconceivable. Only the light they love is in awareness, and only love shines upon them forever. It is their past, their present and their future; always the same, eternally complete and wholly shared. They know it is impossible their happiness could ever suffer change of any kind. Perhaps you think the battleground can offer something you can win. Can it be anything that offers you a perfect calmness, and a sense of love so deep and quiet that no touch of doubt can ever mar your certainty? And that will last forever? It is important to remember that we are still the Light of Love that we were created to be by our Father… We are still the Light of Love that our Father is… Because we are one with our Father, we have one purpose and that is to extend the Love that we are…

As we open to the Light of Love, we feel Its peace… We feel Its gentleness and kindness… We feel Its strength… We know we are joined as one Mind with every brother… We know our connection is unlimited because in truth we share one Mind… We know our Love is automatically shared because that is what Love does… We feel the joy and the perfect calmness that comes as we share our Father’s purpose. And we are grateful that this is eternally so.

Using the Body as an Aid to Lead Us Home

…[the body] can be seen as not your home, but merely as an aid to help you reach the home where God abides.

With this as purpose is the body healed. It is not used to witness to the dream of separation and disease. Nor is it idly blamed for what it did not do. It serves to help the healing of God’s Son, and for this purpose it cannot be sick. It will not join a purpose not your own, and you have chosen that it not be sick. All miracles are based upon this choice, and given you the instant it is made. (A Course in Miracles, T-28.VII.3:6-4:6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The most often repeated statement in the Course is, “I am not a body, I am free. I am still as God created me.” Learning to let go of our identification with the body is how we let the body be an aid to help us return to our Home in God. This seems to be a radical reversal of the belief that our identity is defined by the body and personality in the world.

If we look honestly at what identifying with the body brings us in this world, it is clear that it brings us a sense of vulnerability, lack, guilt and fear. Letting go of this identity promises to return us to the perfect safety, changeless peace, limitless joy and perfect Love of God, our only Home. This is an exchange that is truly worth the effort. It offers us what we truly want. And it is guaranteed that it is ours because God Himself has given it.

Today we practice remembering the center of peace within and letting that peace lead the way. This is how we are guided to use the body as an aid to lead us Home.

Accepting the Power of Forgiveness

Remember that in every attack [perception of separation] you call upon your own weakness, while each time you forgive [recognize oneness] you call upon the strength of Christ in you. Do you not then begin to understand what forgiveness will do for you? It will remove all sense of weakness, strain and fatigue from your mind. It will take away all fear and guilt and pain. It will restore the invulnerability and power God gave His Son to your awareness. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.62.3. See also ACIM Lesson 62 Insights.)

It is helpful to be reminded that when we see a brother as separate from us, that we are calling upon our own weakness. It is also helpful to truly recognize the strength and power that come with being willing to see past separation to the truth of our oneness in the Love of God.

As we open to a better way through the Holy Spirit in our mind, we are brought to the Light of God in us. We are brought to our true strength and power — the eternal power of God’s Love. As we practice this consistently, we begin to experience that Love is the answer to every situation we encounter in the dream world of separation. All this comes as we accept the power of forgiveness and practice it consistently in our daily lives.
