Choosing Our True Identity

My Self is God’s Son. My Self is the one Self we all share. It is this Self, Which is Love, that unites us all as one and unites us with God. Being Love, this Self shares God’s holiness. My only decision is whether to accept this Self as my Identity or to choose a fake identity. 



This fake identity is made up and therefore cannot be united with the Self that is my reality. This fake identity is limited and weak, fearful and riddled with guilt. It sees attack and destruction everywhere and never feels safe. Its existence depends upon attack to protect itself from attack. Peace is impossible to this fake identity, for it sees itself as alone and separate from the many other identities that seem to populate its world. Belief in this identity makes it seem to be real and the Identity created by God seems unreal. 



Yet believing in this fake identity is a decision, but it is a decision that can be reversed. This fake identity ceases to appear to exist the moment it is no longer supported by belief. This is salvation. The moment I release all belief in separate identities, the world is free and I remember the Self God created as His Son. The extension of Love replaces the projection of guilt. Peace replaces conflict. And God’s glory replaces a sense of unworthiness. One decision made without reservation changes it all. 



Belief in a separate identity has been reinforced, layer upon layer. And so the undoing of this belief seems to come layer by layer. There still seems to be reservations in choosing against the false identity. Some aspects of this false identity still seem to be attractive. Gratefully, as I let go of believing I am separate and alone, the false identity is less and less attractive. More and more I realize and accept that my happiness lies in accepting that I am Love and nothing else. And so is everyone. 



Holy Spirit, guide my vision today to see the Love in everyone that I may recognize my Self. Thus will I contribute to the salvation of the world, which cannot be complete while I believe there could be anything but Love. Holy Spirit help me to see that only Love is real. We Rest in God

Let us remember through the day that we all rest in God, no matter what dreams may come…
Let us remember today that we are safe in God and have never left…
Let us remember that this is true about everyone…

The fact that we rest in God means that we are resting in Heaven eternally…
In truth, we are all that God is… This is God’s Will for us… And what God wills… IS.

As we let ourselves return to the truth, that we are still Love and nothing else, we feel safe and comforted…
and we know that this is true about everyone,
no matter what fearful thoughts are dreamed up in a world of separation.

Today we would remember that we rest in God.

God Gave Himself to Us All in Equal Love

You are alike to God as God is to Himself. He is not special, for He would not keep one part of what He is unto Himself, not given to His Son but kept for Him alone. And it is this you fear, for if He is not special, then He willed His Son to be like Him, and your brother is like you. Not special, but possessed of everything, including you. Give him but what he has, remembering God gave Himself to you and your brother in equal love, that both might share the universe with Him Who chose that love could never be divided, and kept separate from what it is and must forever be. Specialness is divisive. What is one can have no differences. The wish for specialness attempts to divide oneness into different pieces. This could only be “accomplished” in illusions, for the reality of Oneness is unchangeable.

The thought system of separation (the ego) made a world that appears to make differences real. It is a deception that hides the gift of Love which God has given to all equally. When we identify with the body and believe what the body seems to show us, we see images that seem to confirm that separation is real.

The way back to the experience of God’s limitless Love is to lay aside our belief that specialness offers us anything of value. Specialness brings conflict, fear and guilt with it. All we really want is to remember our innocence and the Love that is given us eternally.

Everyone in this world is searching for Love, but it cannot be found in this world. The Love we search for is already in us. It is What we are. Today we practice letting Holy Spirit show us the Love that is the truth in everyone we meet or think of. This is how we will learn to recognize that God has already given us all of His Love.

Seeing Your Relationships with Holy Spirit

All [the Holy Spirit] perceives in separation is that it must be undone. Let Him uncover the hidden spark of beauty in your relationships, and show it to you. Its loveliness will so attract you that you will be unwilling ever to lose the sight of it again. And you will let this spark transform the relationship so you can see it more and more. For you will want it more and more, and become increasingly unwilling to let it be hidden from you.

My holy brother, I would enter into all your relationships, and step between you and your fantasies. Let my relationship to you be real to you, and let me bring reality to your perception of your brothers. (A Course in Miracles, T-17.III.6:6-10;10:1-2. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

We want to wake up from the dream of separation from God.… We want to return to God’s peace and happiness and joy… We do this by letting the Voice for God return us to the truth…

Today we give time to quiet listening to our inner Teacher… We would see as He sees… We gladly welcome seeing the innocence and Love behind every veil of separation… We want to see every brother as he truly is… We want to see that he is still as God created him and that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son… We want to return to the truth and be happy… We gladly see all our relationships through the eyes of the Holy Spirit today.

Setting a New Direction

Father, I wake today with miracles correcting my perception of all things. And so begins the day I share with You as I will share eternity, for time has stepped aside today. I do not seek the things of time, and so I will not look upon them. What I seek today transcends all laws of time and things perceived in time. I would forget all things except Your Love. I would abide in You, and know no laws except Your law of love. And I would find the peace which You created for Your Son, forgetting all the foolish toys I made as I behold Your glory and my own. Today we practice remembering that God’s law of Love is all inclusive. As we join with God’s all-encompassing law of Love, we see that God knows no differences… He sees only the truth of What we are… He sees us as Love and nothing else… He sees us as wholly innocent…

Our inner Teacher, the Voice for Love, has infinite patience because It knows that in truth we never left Love and remain as Love created us. Our inner Teacher remembers for us that only Love is real and helps us apply this to everyone we meet or even think of. We commit to reinforcing this new direction today and every day this coming year.

Light and Joy and Peace Abide in You

Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Over and over this must be repeated, until it is accepted. It is true. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Nothing can touch it, or change what God created as eternal. The self you made, evil and full of sin, is meaningless. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God, and light and joy and peace abide in you.

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought;—you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself. …You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.93.5,7:1,6-7. See also ACIM Lesson 93 Insights.)

Let us today practice opening to this truth about ourselves. If we are forever exactly as we were created, we are one with God’s Light and joy and peace…

To strengthen this practice we take time to accept the peace that is present in our mind all the time… We relax into the fullness of God’s peace… We let ourselves feel the strength and power of God’s peace… We let God’s peace carry us all through the day… We let ourselves remember that Light and joy and peace abide in us.

You Stand in Light

True light is strength, and strength is sinlessness. If you remain as God created you, you must be strong and light must be in you. He Who ensured your sinlessness must be the guarantee of strength and light as well. You are as God created you. Darkness cannot obscure the glory of God’s Son. You stand in light, strong in the sinlessness in which you were created, and in which you will remain throughout eternity. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.94.2). See also ACIM Lesson 94 Insights.

In this world it seems that we must be constantly alert to defend ourselves against potential harm. This need for vigilance could only come from a belief that we are weak and vulnerable. But we are told in the Course that we are held safely and eternally in God’s Light, which is strength. We could only be susceptible to harm if there were some spot of weakness in God. But since God is the Source of all strength, there can be no weakness in Him.

The sense of weakness we experience in the world can only be relieved by letting go of the false image that we are separate from God. It is impossible that this image be true. God’s light and strength are ours and could never leave us.

As long as we identify with the ego thought system of separation, we will believe we are weak and in the dark. But belief can be changed. We need help from outside the false belief to correct the mistaken idea. By the grace of God we have been given a Link which keeps us joined with the Self that never bought into the false belief. That Self never left the light and strength and innocence of God.

Today we practice setting aside the beliefs we have about ourselves, the attributes and images we have identified with. We bring these to the Holy Spirit, our Link to remember the truth. His Light will shine away the dark false images so that we will remember we stand in the Light and strength of God.
