Our Prayer to Holy Spirit

We give our thoughts to You, Holy Spirit… Guide them in the way that leads to truth… Cleanse them of our illusions, that we may see the way clearly… Strengthen our willingness to let go of the past and accept the gift of Love in each moment…

We would join with You to extend Love without limitation in each now moment… Guide our doing, that it may always reflect the Love of our Creator. Guide our words that they may bless as we are blessed… We accept Your gift of truth today.

Opening to What Is True

The Course tells us many times that the truth is true and nothing else is true. Yet often we find ourselves believing in the illusions. Today our practice is to open our minds to receive the thought reversal given us by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, when we are willing, lifts the veil so that we are able to see the truth behind the illusion of separation. The Holy Spirit makes use of time to undo our belief in illusions. We learn to pass illusions by instead of taking hold of them and making them real.

As we listen to the Holy Spirit, we learn to not take the world so seriously. We learn to see past the insanity to the Love That is really there. In truth, we are all totally immersed in God’s Love. In truth, we all are God’s Love, one with God in every way. In truth, we are all the same, eternal Love. All this returns to us as we practice, hour by hour, opening to what is true. And what we ask for we receive. And we are grateful that this is so.

Kick the Ego Habit

It’s time to kick the habit of deciding on our own. Deciding on our own is deciding with the ego, the idea of being alone and separate. Whenever we decide on our own, we are judging ourselves, though it may seem that we are judging something external. With judgment comes guilt and fear. As long as we continue to judge, happiness is impossible.

We dedicate today to joining with the truth in our minds, the Holy Spirit, in all our decisions. We remember that the Holy Spirit’s goal is to lead us back to the experience of perfect happiness and perfect peace in the Heart of God. This is all we really want. This practice will take great strides toward the happiness that God wills for us. Choosing to follow Holy Spirit’s lead is accepting God’s gift of perfect happiness, perfect peace and eternal Love.

Making Our Connection with Holy Spirit Our Highest Priority

We have been trained to ask of everything, “What is this for?” Is it to reinforce illusions, or to remove the barriers to the awareness of Love’s Presence?

The Holy Spirit is our constant Companion Whose purpose is to being us out of the prison house of the ego thought system and return us to our true inheritance as a child of God. The Holy Spirit, as our best Friend, returns us to everlasting peace and happiness. The Holy Spirit removes the struggle and helps us see with clarity and true understanding.

Today we are willing to join with our best Friend, our constant Companion, and receive the gift of freedom from fear, pain and suffering that is being offered. Today we listen and receive the truth that we all are still Love and nothing else. And for this we are eternally grateful.

Choosing What Is True

Your mind is constantly active, constantly thinking, constantly choosing, and is ruled by its past habits, tendencies, and experiences. Unless corrected it will simply repeat the past and reinforce the hold the past has on the present. You must continually correct your mind in the present by being aware of its activity, and consciously choosing what is true, again and again, with the help of the Holy Spirit. This constant correction is fundamental and absolutely necessary. (From the Christ Mind p. 93. Click here for more information about this book.)

The Holy Spirit is with us all through the day, whether we are aware of It or not. To free ourselves from the bondage of the ego thought system, we must be willing to become aware of the Holy Spirit’s gentle correction throughout the day. This takes some vigilance because the ego mind defends against our awakening to the truth. If we let it, it keeps us constantly busy with a never-ending stream of solving problems in the world.

Our practice for today is to make it our highest priority to open our minds to receive Holy Spirit’s gentle correction all through the day. As we are willing to let go of our interpretations, our minds are open to a Holy Spirit’s way of seeing. We are open to the gift of true perception, which frees us from the past and leads us to the gates of Heaven.

The Healing Way of Peace

Let me not wander from the way of peace, for I am lost on other roads than this. But let me follow Him Who leads me home, and peace is certain as the Love of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.220.1:2-3)

Every day the world seems to present us with reasons to “wander from the way of peace.” Something doesn’t work the way we expect or want it to. Someone says something we don’t like. Illness seems to come out of nowhere.

We are being asked not to take the “bait” of temptation to wander away from the guidance that Love offers us. The way of Love is the way of peace. The Holy Spirit, the Voice of Love, will always lead us in the way of peace. To receive this guidance, we need to step back from our knee jerk reactions to happenings in the world, relax, and open our minds once again to the Holy Spirit’s loving lead. He will always lead us in a way that is truly helpful for everyone, including ourselves.

Letting Love Lead the Way

It seems very tempting to fall back into the old habit of trying to solve problems on our own, to analyze and plan how to manage the circumstances and problems that seem to be present. It seems safer to rely on the old habits than to open to a Source of Inspiration that cannot be seen with the body’s eyes and is not based on past experience. But this habit does not bring peace.

If we honestly look at what we use as the basis for our problem solving on our own, we see it is severely limited. Certainly we are not aware of all the effects our actions have everywhere. But the Source of Inspiration within us has no such limitation. It makes sense to turn to this unlimited Source of help to solve problems. 

Today we practice, once again, pausing frequently to step back, relax into peace and open our minds to Inspiration beyond our experience, our history. With our minds open to this Inspiration, we are willing to be led. We would not decide what the answer should look like, for in truth we do not know. Today we practice stepping back and letting Love lead the way.
