Truth Is Union

The search for truth is but the honest searching out of everything that interferes with truth. Truth is. …Yet it can be recognized or unrecognized, real or false to you. If you hide it, it becomes unreal to you because you hid it and surrounded it with fear. Under each cornerstone of fear on which you have erected your insane system of belief, the truth lies hidden. Yet you cannot know this, for by hiding truth in fear, you see no reason to believe that the more you look at fear the less you see it, and the clearer what it conceals becomes.

The Holy Spirit asks of you but this; bring to Him every secret you have locked away from Him. Open every door to Him, and bid Him enter the darkness and lighten it away. At your request He enters gladly. He brings the light to darkness if you make the darkness open to Him. But what you hide He cannot look upon. He sees for you, and unless you look with Him He cannot see. The vision of Christ is not for Him alone, but for Him with you. Bring, therefore, all your dark and secret thoughts to Him, and look upon them with Him. He holds the light, and you the darkness. They cannot coexist when both of You together look on them. His judgment must prevail, and He will give it to you as you join your perception to His. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.VII.2:1-2,5-8;6. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Here is the ego’s chief defense against the truth. It tells us, “Don’t go there. It’s dangerous. You will lose your self.” But what we will lose is only the illusion of a self that does not exist in truth.  We will lose the sense of helplessness, hopelessness and lovelessness that pervades our experience in the world. When we go past the ego’s fear to the truth, we find the Self that is one with God and shares His strength, Love, joy and peace. We give up nothing to remember we have everything.

The ego’s dark defenses are very effective, but not invincible. They are powerless against the Light the Holy Spirit will shine on them if we let Him in. We need only be willing to turn over all our fear-based thoughts to Him for His loving, gentle correction. The Light of Love shines away the darkness of fear.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and bring Love’s Light to our mind so that we can recognize the truth of What we are.

Making an Investment with Infinite Return

Whom God created limitless is free. I can invent imprisonment for him, but only in illusions, not in truth. No Thought of God has left its Father’s Mind. No Thought of God is limited at all. No Thought of God but is forever pure. Can I lay limits on the Son of God, whose Father willed that he be limitless, and like Himself in freedom and in love?

Today let me give honor to Your Son, for thus alone I find the way to You. Father, I lay no limits on the Son You love and You created limitless. The honor that I give to him is Yours, and what is Yours belongs to me as well. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 280, W-pII.280.1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 280 Insights.)

Our true Self is God’s Son, His Thought held eternally in the oneness of His Love. Our true Home is a place of peace and joy without limits. The world of separation we experience shows us that we have not accepted God’s gift that He gave without limits. It is still there, waiting for our acceptance. Nothing else is needed.

But as long as we identify with the ego and its denial of Love, we will not experience God’s gifts. Instead we believe in a false identity represented as a body in the ego’s world of projections.It could never be true, but it will be experienced as real as long as we invest our belief in it.

In any moment we can choose to withdraw our investment and reinvest in the acceptance of God’s gift. The return on this investment is infinite, for we have withdrawn our investment in nothing and given it to all that is Real.

Changing our investment requires a Broker Who knows how to guide us to invest in what has unlimited yield. If we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide, He will help us see the worthlessness in our mistaken investments. We believed they had value, but with His help, we recognize we were mistaken and let them go.

Now we are free to invest in only what is valuable—the acceptance of God’s gift of changeless Love. When we have withdrawn our mistaken investments and reinvested our belief in our True Self, we free ourselves from limitation entirely. We remember we are at Home in Love.

Being a Teacher of Love in the World

Prepare yourself for miracles today. Today allow your Father’s ancient pledge to you and all your brothers to be kept.

Hear Him today, and listen to the Word which lifts the veil that lies upon the earth, and wakes all those who sleep and cannot see. God calls to them through you. He needs your voice to speak to them, for who could reach God’s Son except his Father, calling through your Self? Hear Him today, and offer Him your voice to speak to all the multitude who wait to hear the Word that He will speak today.

I will be still and listen to the truth.
What does it mean to give and to receive?

Ask and expect an answer. Your request is one whose answer has been waiting long to be received by you. It will begin the ministry for which you came, and which will free the world from thinking giving is a way to lose. And so the world becomes ready to understand and to receive. Everyone has a ministry in the world, given us by God. It is to bring God’s Love into the dream of a world where Love is denied. We are called to be messengers of Love instead of fear. We are to see innocence with Christ’s vision instead of the guilt the ego would have us perceive.

The form our ministry takes is unique for each of us. It depends upon our willingness to receive the Guidance offered us by God’s Voice. We cannot bring Love to the world alone, for to believe we are alone, we must believe we are without Love. As we are willing to let Love guide our thoughts and actions, we become God’s teachers in the world. We demonstrate Love’s Presence by our thoughts, words and actions.

The belief we no longer have what we have given makes us fearful of giving Love. But unlike the giving of the world where giving is perceived as loss, giving Love simply extends Love with no loss at all. This is Creation, for only Love creates, and only like Itself. When we extend Love, we receive Love’s blessing and experience Love’s increase in us. Love is eternal and cannot be limited nor lost.

Today we choose to let Love guide our way, for we would bless the world and receive Love’s blessing.

Rejoicing in Our Home in Love

Today I wake with joy, expecting but the happy things of God to come to me. I ask but them to come, and realize my invitation will be answered by the thoughts to which it has been sent by me. And I will ask for only joyous things the instant I accept my holiness. For what would be the use of pain to me, what purpose would my suffering fulfill, and how would grief and loss avail me if insanity departs from me today, and I accept my holiness instead?

Father, my holiness is Yours. Let me rejoice in it, and through for­giveness be restored to sanity. Your Son is still as You created him. My holiness is part of me, and also part of You. And what can alter Holi­ness Itself? (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 285, W-pII.285.1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 285 Insights.)

God’s Voice is constantly calling to us to accept His gift of Love, eternally one with Him. Our true Self shares His joy and His peace in the oneness of His Love. But we are dreaming that we are a separate self which denies God’s gift of Love. It denies the fact that God’s Son is eternally one with Him.

The effect of choosing this separate self is the perception of a world we wander through, feeling incomplete, unloved and unsafe. It is an experience devoid of peace where we feel we have to protect ourselves from harm. Fear and guilt are our constant companion. This is not our Home.

We believe we are unworthy to be called holy. But this feeling of inadequacy comes from identifying with a false self offered by the ego thought of separation as a substitute for the Self God created one with Him. We are not this false self. We are God’s Son, eternally united in His Love.

Today we choose to listen to God’s Call and accept the Help He has given us to lovingly awaken us from the nightmare of fear and guilt. His Teacher offers us lessons in forgiveness to help us recognize what is real and what is unreal. As we accept the real, we let go of our belief in the ego’s lies. The holiness of our eternal unity with our Creator shines in our mind. We rest in the joy of being Love. We rejoice as we rest in God’s peace, our Home.

Forgiveness Heals Our Mind

Just as forgiveness overlooks all sins that never were ac­complished, healing but removes illusions that have not oc­curred. Just as the real world will arise to take the place of what has never been at all, healing but offers restitution for imagined states and false ideas which dreams embroider into pictures of the truth.

[The Holy Spirit’s] gentle lessons teach how easily salvation can be yours; how little practice you need undertake to let His laws replace the ones you made to hold yourself a prisoner to death. His life becomes your own, as you extend the little help He asks in freeing you from everything that ever caused you pain.

And as you let yourself be healed, you see all those around you, or who cross your mind, or whom you touch or those who seem to have no contact with you, healed along with you. Perhaps you will not recognize them all, nor realize how great your offering to all the world, when you let healing come to you. But you are never healed alone. And legions upon legions will receive the gift that you receive when you are healed.

Forgiveness occurs in the mind. It is the letting go of a false idea that represented a belief in the reality of separation. This false idea projects the illusion of a world of differences where time, space and forms define separate objects in separate places at separate points in time. Yet in the oneness of Love, differences are impossible. Thus the projected world is simply a dream of illusions that could never be real.

The Source of these illusions must be healed through forgiveness to release the mind from false beliefs. We welcome forgiveness by being willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to undo our mistaken beliefs. Willingness begins with accepting the possibility that we do not know what our perceptions mean.

This open door allows us to welcome the Holy Spirit’s interpretation. He will always teach us to look beyond appearances in the world to the presence of Love. He will teach us that attack, harm or loss represent a call for Love because they come from denying Love.

With His help the calls for Love are answered with Christ’s vision that teaches us we are Love, along with every brother. As the Holy Spirit’s lessons are accepted, our mind is healed. The world is transformed from a dream of threat and fear to opportunities to release illusions and extend Love. In this practice we learn that we are Love by teaching only Love.

Paying Attention to God’s Voice Brings Peace

God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

Let us today attend the Voice for God, which speaks an ancient lesson, no more true today than any other day. Yet has this day been chosen as the time when we will seek and hear and learn and understand. Join me in hearing. For the Voice for God tells us of things we cannot understand alone, nor learn apart. It is in this that all things are protected. And in this the healing of the Voice for God is found.

Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. I need be anxious over nothing. For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. The safety that I bring is given me. God’s Voice is the unbreakable link between God and His Son. It assures us that we cannot be lost forever in the ego’s dream of separation. His Voice remains forever in our mind. It is accessible if we are willing to listen and learn.

Our attention to the ego has taught us to believe we are an identity separate from God and alone in a loveless world. Everything we perceive in the world seems to confirm that separation is real. We feel incomplete and need to search for the Love that will complete us.

If we are willing to consider that our perceptions may be mistaken and pause to connect with the presence of peace within, we will find Help. Whatever our need seems to be, His Voice will guide us very specifically in the direction that helps us recognize the presence of Love in our minds and in the world. It may guide us to a book, inspire a new thought, a conversation may help or we may be guided to go to a place or an event. Under His leadership, we will experience a deepening awareness of our safety in the certainty of God’s Love. We choose to attend to His Voice today.

Being a Messenger of Love

I will not be afraid of love today.

If I could realize but this today, salvation would be reached for all the world. This the decision not to be insane, and to accept myself as God Himself, my Father and my Source, created me. This the determination not to be asleep in dreams of death, while truth remains forever living in the joy of love. And this the choice to recognize the Self Whom God created as the Son He loves, and Who remains my one Identity.

Father, Your Name is Love and so is mine. Such is the truth. And can the truth be changed by merely giving it another name? The name of fear is simply a mistake. Let me not be afraid of truth today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 282, W-pII.282. See also ACIM Lesson 282 Insights.)

Love is the one condition in which our safety is guaranteed, our joy complete and peace is undisturbed. It is our natural state because it is the condition in which we were created by God, eternally united with Himself. It is the only condition in which we are at Home.

The ego is afraid of Love because only Love is real and thus separation must be unreal. This means the ego is not real. Real and unreal cannot coexist. The ego’s seeming existence depends on the belief in a world of separation. This belief makes separation seem real. To maintain its seeming existence, the ego must constantly defend against the reality of Love’s oneness.

As we let the Holy Spirit heal our mistaken beliefs in separation, fear of Love diminishes. Today we choose the Voice of Love as our Guide to true perception. We want to remember the Self God created as Love. We want to experience His joy and peace. We want to bring Love’s message to the world by demonstrating our acceptance of Love. This is our intention for today.
