Being Lighthearted

We are lighthearted when we are in a peaceful state of mind. We are lighthearted when we are aligned with the thoughts of the Holy Spirit — when we see as He sees. The Holy Spirit sees no conflict and thus is always at peace.

Love is simple and uncomplicated, free of all conflict. In Truth there is nothing but Love. To return to the truth, it is helpful to take a deep breath and relax as we let it out… As we let ourselves settle into the center of peace within, the appearance of conflict fades… Our minds are opened to the comfort and inspiration of the Holy Spirit…

We are open to His vision, which shows us the reality of Love’s oneness behind the appearance… We accept the Light of Love in our minds, which dissolves the false beliefs… The heaviness of fear fades as we let the Light of Love fill our hearts.

Today we practice holding our minds open to the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, which brings lightheartedness with it.

Seeing the Holiness in Your Brother

The Holy Spirit sees perception as a means to teach you that the vision of a holy relationship is all you want to see. Then will you give your faith to holiness, desiring and believing in it because of your desire. (A Course in Miracles, T-21.III.6:6-7)

No matter what wild illusions we may conjure in the dream of separation, the Holy Spirit has a kind and loving correction. He needs only our willingness to consider the possibility that there might be something that would bring us greater happiness which we would prefer instead of the images we have made.

When we entertain that possibility, we are opening our willingness to receive the Holy Spirit’s vision. His vision will help us see that what He offers is what we really want instead of our self-made illusions. He will teach us that we do not have to live with the conflict, sense of loss, feeling of loneliness and incompletion, the vulnerability, we experience in the dream.

He offers us instead, deep peace, perfect safety, limitless Love and joy beyond description. We only need to recognize that we prefer these gifts and make the choice to accept them. With Holy Spirit’s loving help, we freely make this choice and in this choice we see our oneness with our brother and we join in the holiness of the one Self we share.

Bringing Blessing to Our Day

There are many little detailed things to do today. Its a perfect opportunity to practice stepping back and letting Holy Spirit lead the way in each moment. As we rest in His Love and peace, with our minds open to His lead, we will be guided in what to do, where to go, what to say and to whom. Because this guidance comes from the Source of Love, it will always bring blessing with it. With this practice it will be a truly blessed day.

Accepting Inner Peace

Accepting inner peace is the gateway to freedom from ego thoughts. Today we practice opening to and accepting the peace that comes from our true Self… We welcome in the Light of peace and all that comes with It… We feel uplifted and carried by the Light of truth as we quiet our minds…

We feel the peace and sense of well being that comes from our true Self… We accept Its power to shine away fear thoughts and thoughts of limitation and lack… We let It shine away destructive thoughts of guilt, blame and unworthiness… All these gifts come as we practice, hour by hour, accepting inner peace.

We Open Our Minds to the Truth

Today I can forget the world I made. Today I can go past all fear, and be restored to love and holiness and peace.

And so, our Father, we return to You, remembering we never went away; remembering Your holy gifts to us. In gratitude and thankfulness we come, with empty hands and open hearts and minds, asking but what You give. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.306.1:2-3;2:1-2)

Love and holiness and peace are already ours. The world we see through the body seems to be the complete opposite of this, because it is the effect of believing that we have successfully separated from peace and Love and holiness. Yet even though we see a world of conflict and fear, we still have the gifts God gave in creating His Son. We are still His one Son; we are not the image we have made of ourselves as a body, weak and vulnerable, destined to die.

We can remember the gifts that are already ours and the truth that we are united as God’s one Son. This remembering comes when we are willing to lay down the images we have made. We do this by letting the Holy Spirit replace these images with Christ’s vision of the truth. As we come with empty hands, an open mind and a willing heart, we remember that we remain Love as Love created us.

The Power of Our Decision

As God created you, you must remain unchangeable, with transitory states by definition false. And that includes all shifts in feeling, alterations in conditions of the body and the mind; in all awareness and in all response. This is the all-inclusiveness which sets the truth apart from falsehood, and the false kept separate from the truth, as what it is.

The power of decision is our own. And we accept of Him that which we are, and humbly recognize the Son of God. To recognize God’s Son implies as well that all self-concepts have been laid aside, and recognized as false. Their arrogance has been perceived. And in humility the radiance of God’s Son, his gentleness, his perfect sinlessness, his Father’s Love, his right to Heaven and release from hell, are joyously accepted as our own. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.152.5;10)

The decision for what I want to believe is true is always mine. This is a point that is repeated many ways, again and again throughout the Course. The ego puts up all kinds of smoke screens trying to hide this fact and make it seem as though what happens in the world I see is entirely out of my control. The ego’s very existence depends upon my believing this. The recognition that the world and everything I seem to experience in it is of my own making brings instant release. 



No one consciously hangs on to pain, isolation, fear and guilt. It is the quick forgetting referred to in an earlier lesson that makes these decisions seem to be unconscious and holds the illusionary world in place. 



As I accept my Self as God created me to be, I free myself from the world of limitation and death. Only I can make this decision, for it is only I who has made the decision to deny it. Today’s lesson is simply a reinforcement of the lesson, “Heaven is the decision I must make.” Today I will practice remembering that I remain as God created me to be. We Never Walk Alone

In peace we will continue in [Holy Spirit’s] way, and trust all things to Him. In confidence we wait His answers, as we ask His Will in everything we do. He loves God’s Son as we would love him. And He teaches us how to behold [God’s Son] through His eyes, and love him as He does. You do not walk alone. God’s angels hover near and all about. His Love surrounds you, and of this be sure; that I will never leave you comfortless. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.Ep.6:2-8)

The world seems to be a lonely place where we are isolated and separate from everything. In truth, we have never succeeded in separating from our Source. God is always with us. And in the dream of separation, we have the Holy Spirit with us as an unbreakable Link with our Source. His help is available to us in every moment. He reminds us that we are always loved. He shares His certainty and vision with us to help us see past the mistaken images of the world to the changeless Presence of Love that surrounds us and is in us.

We open our awareness to the Presence of our Comforter by relaxing into peace. As we redirect our minds from the chaos of the world to the quiet certainty of the Holy Spirit within, we are reminded that we always have the help we need in each moment. His Love will direct us to be truly helpful and to see past seeming causes for fear and guilt to the recognition that nothing has really happened to change the Self we are — God’s cherished Son.
