Willingness to Behold the Christ

One brother is all brothers. Every mind contains all minds, for every mind is one.

Give me your blessing, holy Son of God. I would behold you with the eyes of Christ, and see my perfect sinlessness in you.

Behold him now, whom you have seen as merely flesh and bone, and recognize that Christ has come to you. Today’s idea is your safe escape from anger and from fear.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.161.4:1-2;11:7-8;12:3-4)

It is quite a blessing to remember that one brother is all brothers and that every mind is one. As we remember this we are so blessed because it returns us to our one true Identity.

Today we would be good to ourselves; we will be kind and gentle as we allow ourselves to be showered with the blessings that come with remembering the truth. Our practice for today is to apply this to every brother we meet or even think of — one brother is all brothers, for every mind is one. This person we have thought of as a separate individual now becomes our healing partner in helping us awaken from dreams of separation. Oh what joy comes as we allow ourselves to return to the truth.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Perspective

The Holy Spirit asks only this little help of you: Whenever your thoughts wander to a special relationship which still attracts you, enter with Him into a holy instant, and there let Him release you. He needs only your willingness to share His perspective to give it to you completely. And your willingness need not be complete because His is perfect. It is His task to atone for your unwillingness by His perfect faith, and it is His faith you share with Him there. Out of your recognition of your unwillingness for your release, His perfect willingness is given you. Call upon Him, for Heaven is at His Call. And let Him call on Heaven for you. (A Course in Miracles, T-16.VI.12)

When we believe that what the body’s senses show us is real, we are accepting the ego’s distorted perspective. We are seeing from the perspective of being separate, which could never be in Truth. The first step to release from this distorted perspective is the recognition that we are unwilling to see it differently and need help. The next step is to go to the Source of meaningful help, which is not the ego.

When we turn to the Holy Spirit in our minds, He will give us His strength, His faith in the Truth in us, to carry us past our unwillingness. His willingness supersedes our unwillingness as we recognize our need for help and ask for His. In gentleness and Love, He will show us His perspective, which shines away the meaningless images of separation and shows us our unity with all in Love.

Today our practice is to ask for Holy Spirit’s help to see His perspective. As we accept Holy Spirit’s help, it will be a day of happiness as we recognize our brother’s as our one Self at Home in Love.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Gift of Peace

Whenever you are tempted to undertake a useless journey that would lead away from light, remember what you really want, and say:

The Holy Spirit leads me unto Christ, and where else would I go? What need have I but to awake in Him?

Then follow Him in joy, with faith that He will lead you safely through all dangers to your peace of mind this world may set before you. Kneel not before the altars to sacrifice, and seek not what you will surely lose. Content yourself with what you will as surely keep, and be not restless, for you undertake a quiet journey to the peace of God, where He would have you be in quietness. (A Course in Miracles, T-13.VII.14-15.)

Peace is our inheritance because we were created in peace. If we are not experiencing peace then we are simply denying the gift already given us. It’s as though we have taken our greatest treasure, locked it away in a dark room and forgotten where we put it.

This is the effect of believing that we are separate from our Creator. And so we go on countless journeys seeking for peace, having forgotten where it is. This need not be. We have a Thought within our mind that remembers where peace is and holds that memory for us, waiting for us to accept the Thought that would guide us back to our completion.

Today we would remind ourselves frequently to open our minds to the Holy Spirit’s lead and accept His guidance to the peace we have hidden away. Today we would welcome peace and accept the gift we have been given. And we would extend peace to our brother that we may know we have it.

Every Moment Is an Opportunity for Healing

If we are at peace and joined with the Holy Spirit, we share His healing vision and share it with our brothers. If we are not at peace, it is an opportunity to bring the disturbing thoughts to the Holy Spirit to receive His gentle correction. Our minds are healed as we accept this correction.

We dedicate today to bringing all thoughts that are not in peace to the Holy Spirit with willingness to accept His correction. As we accept Truth in place of our mistaken thoughts, we reflect God’s Love in the world. His healing Light shines through us, supporting the healing of all our brothers, along with us. This practice brings us happiness and peace and extends it to the world — thus every moment is an opportunity for healing.

In Gratitude We Heal

We let today be a day of gratitude… We are grateful that the Holy Spirit is always there in our minds and will light up our minds in Truth as our willingness grows day by day… We are grateful that we, along with every brother, are still as God created us — whole, perfect and complete… We are grateful that nothing has really happened to change God’s one Son — still safe in the Heart of Love…

We are grateful to learn that dreams mean nothing and are nowhere in truth… We are grateful to forgive or let go of all the false ideas that have imprisoned us for a while… We are grateful that only Love is real, and that God is our strength and vision is his gift to heal our misperceptions…

Only Love Is Real

Remember that the Holy Spirit is the Communication Link between God the Father and His separated Sons. If you will listen to His Voice you will know that you cannot either hurt or be hurt, and that many need your blessing to help them hear this for themselves. When you perceive only this need in them, and do not respond to any other, you will have learned of me and will be as eager to share your learning as I am. (A Course in Miracles, T-6.I.19)

We have been dreaming a dream of being separated from Love and we are learning the dream is not true. We are now in the process of awakening from the dream of thinking that we can hurt or be hurt. We are learning from the Holy Spirit that only Love is real.

Behind every dream of attack or being attacked is the truth of our reality as Love. We are learning that hallucinations of separation mean nothing. Hallucinations are not real and therefore we cannot harm or be harmed. It is the Holy Spirit in our mind that helps us rise above to see the Love that is really there eternally.

Waking up is all we want. Waking up from the dream of separate bodies is all we need. We see the futility of being lost in dreams. We no longer need to believe in these made up stories, no matter how real they appear to be. Our whole life is now dedicated to seeing as the Holy Spirit sees. With Holy Spirit we can only bless. We join with the Holy Spirit in everyone to see that only Love is real.

Trusting the Love of God

Only the Love of God will protect you in all circumstances. It will lift you out of every trial, and raise you high above all the perceived dangers of this world into a climate of perfect peace and safety. It will transport you into a state of mind that nothing can threaten, nothing can disturb, and where nothing can intrude upon the eternal calm of the Son of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.50:3)

To be at peace in this world, we must trust only in what is worthy of our trust — the Love of God. The ego is unworthy of any trust, being the denial of all that is trustworthy. The Love of God is eternally with us. It can be counted on in every instant and all circumstances.

To experience this certainty, we must redirect our attention from the chatter of the ego’s disturbing messages to the Voice for God in our minds. As we pay attention to this Voice, our inner Guide, we are shown the Love that is ever present beyond all appearances in the world. Our Guide will help us to reinterpret our perceptions in the world in the Light of Love.

As we practice asking the Light of Love within, “Help me to see this as You would see it. Help me to respond as You would respond,” we will learn of the eternal presence of Love within. We will see the innocence that Love sees. We will experience the peace and joy of the Love within as we extend it to our brothers. We will learn that we were created in Love and as Love and this will never change.
