What Is It For?

by Rev. Myron Jones

image In this dream I think of as my life, there are many little dramas playing out. If I am living unconsciously, I think that they are just happening to me; that I am a victim of other people, of my environment, and let’s be honest, I think I am a victim of God. My unconscious lament becomes, “Why me, God?”

As I begin the process of awakening from this dream, I start questioning what everything is for. What if the dramas in my life did not simply appear there out of nowhere? What if there is a divine purpose, behind everything in my life? What if I knew that life would bring to me every experience I need to awaken me to my true Identity? How would that change my perception of life, and how would that new perception change the way I choose to live?

Choose Peace

by Rev. Cheryl Ford

image  Recently I had been agonizing over a decision regarding two avenues for spiritual expression. Both avenues are intrinsic to each other, so it really made no difference which I chose, but for some reason one gave me a sense of peace and calm. It filled me with a feeling of creativity and freedom; while the other made me feel impatient, overwhelmed and uncertain.

No Fear to Hide in

by Rev. Mary Manke

image In my dream experience the ego mind wanted a different house, a newer house; it wanted the clutter and collections of papers gone, the kitchen kept neat and clean. The ego mind wanted to ‘know’ that it would be taken care of, since I did not ever totally support myself. (Is there some thing that prevents me from learning this now?) The “payoff” to being weak is that someone will take care of me— at what cost? I feel guilty (because I’m using them) I feel worthless, less than. I feel hopeless, that I’ll never change.

Defensiveness Is an Attack On Myself

Rev. Joan Haber

image I utilize defensiveness when I want to be “right” rather than happy.

Defensive behavior is unnerving and unpleasant to be around. When I see it in others I can identify it quite easily and understand that the defensive person is just in a temporary state of fear and is lashing out.

When I engage in defensiveness I am able to see that I am making a choice to be defensive. It seems to be a security blanket for me at times. It is a way to keep threatening people at arms length.

Leadership from Within

by Rev. Marie Hanson

image Most people are happy. Not all the time though.  Ever wonder why that is? What creates this shift from happy to sad, from peaceful to angry? What I will share with you is not the latest leadership fad. It is much deeper and lasting. If you don’t like what you see in your life and world around you, the leader within you is your point of power to change. You can access the leader within.

Day Dream

by Rev. Veronika Wilcox

image  A difficult dream awoke me last night. I decided to put my favorite CD from Pathways of Light (course 914) on repeat. I then went back to sleep. When ever I awoke a little, I could hear some sentence of loving truth from the CD.

Gradually my dreams started to change. There was more love and understanding of others as well as more gentleness in them. Then it came to me that if I did this same procedure during the day — that is, always think loving truth — my day dream (life experience) would change naturally from difficulties to loving joy and peace.

Sonnet from a Dreamer

And dampen the fearful fire
Of my mistrust —
That fire in the belly
Which seems to consume my body.

Infinite Gifts

by Rev. Colleen Mc Nally

image  I am discovering through my immersion in A Course in Miracles that I receive infinite gifts. I am continually aware that the Text and Lessons of ACIM offers me a framework that I choose for my life in these days. This, in itself, is profound and leaves me full of awe. Right now what centers in my mind as very poignant are moments of bringing my attention to some aspect of my life and allowing the Course to give me what I need.

Ordination Address

by Rev. Myron Jones

image Because of a family emergency, I was not able to be at the last ordination ceremony at Pathways. I was very sad not to be able to pin my student, Mary Daw. Mary and I have worked so closely during her ministerial studies and have become such good friends. I was really looking forward to being part of her ordination, so I was really glad that she decided to have a ceremony for family and friends back home. Mary asked me to be part of her ceremony and so I spoke to her about being a minister of God, and presented her as Reverend Mary Daw. It was a wonderful moment. I would like to share with you what I said to Mary.

God’s Will for Me Is Perfect Happiness

by Rev. Lee Catalano

image Who am I listening to?
Who’s Voice leaves me feeling
perfectly happy and peaceful?

It may appear that there
are many voices in the world,
but there are only two.

The One Correction

by Rev. Lee Catalano

imageTo correct my Brother at the level of the world means nothing. It is an error of mind. What this means is, that if he does not teach the Course my way, etc., etc., for me to “offer” correction is an ego thought.

There is only one true correction. That is the one from the belief in guilt/unworthiness to the experience of innocence. A Course in Miracles states that, “No one comes to you by mistake.”

Special Relationships

by Rev. Myron Jones

image Most of our relationships are based on the belief that we are not whole, that we are missing some vital piece of ourselves, and that we can get that missing part if we just hook up with the right person. We seldom are aware, on a conscious level, just what it is that we are missing. So here we are with this fuzzy idea that something is missing and that someone else can complete us. I don’t know how we expect to find that missing piece when we don’t even know what it looks like.

New On the Web — A Course in Miracles Text Q & A

by Revs. Robert & Mary Stoelting

image The past two years we have been working on providing additional perspectives for each section of the Text of A Course in Miracleson the Pathways of Light web site. Recently we have put these perspectives in a new question and answer format. Below are questions and answers for Chapter 17, Section III: Shadows of the Past from Text pgs 354-357.

How do we hear the Holy Spirit?

Paragraphs one and two explain why it is so important for us to step back from our usual way of thinking and invite the Holy Spirit into our mind. We remember to do this when it fully sinks in that what we think we know about ‘reality’ is not true. Being a ‘know it all’ just keeps us a prisoner to the ego thought system of separation. To consistently hear Holy Spirit, who does know reality, we need to make it a regular habit of remembering, “Nothing I see… means anything.” (WB Lesson 1) and, “My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.” (WB Lesson 11)

Forgiveness Is My Function

by Rev. Deb Phelps

image In Chapter 17, in the first section, “Bringing Fantasy to Truth” we are reminded that “When you try to bring truth to illusions, you are trying to make the illusions real, and keep them by justifying your belief in them. But to give illusions to truth is to enable truth to teach that the illusions are unreal, and thus enable you to escape from them.” (T-17.I.5:4-5)

What Is Salvation?

by Rev. Mary Manke

image As I listened during today’s lesson, which is “Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation,” I asked, “What is salvation, Father? Tell me, that I may understand.” This is what came to me from Spirit:

Salvation is to be freed from illusions, from insane plans for survival, from investment in false dreams. Salvation is Love. When you accept the Presence of Love, the false falls away. In Love’s Presence, there is no cause (for guilt/fear) and no need for illusion or lies.
