God Is Doing for Me What I Cannot Do for Myself

I am so grateful that God’s Voice (the Holy Spirit) is always there 24/7 to give me guidance. All I have to do is ask, and be willing to listen. This was so helpful recently. I received a text message from the son of a creative partner I worked with many years ago. He told me that his dad was dying and he wanted to talk to me. I haven’t spoken to him for 30 years because I had a grievance that I couldn’t let go of. I have been practicing true forgiveness for many years and forgiven many people in my life, but this one I wasn’t ready to hand over.

We had a successful advertising agency, and worked together as a creative team for 14 years. We won many creative awards, new clients were flooding in, and business was booming. And then one day we had a disagreement that we couldn’t resolve. So behind my back, he called a meeting with the other board members … I wasn’t invited. He somehow got them to agree to kick me out of my own agency.

Overnight I lost my income, confidence, and reputation, and it didn’t take long for the rest of my life to fall apart; my family, and my beautiful home in the country. Before I knew it I was on my own with nothing.

Responding to the son’s request that I phone his dying dad wasn’t an easy decision. I didn’t know what to do. So I quieted my mind and asked for guidance … “Holy Spirit, what should I do?” I received a gentle prompt, “Call him.”

Before I picked up the phone, I asked again, “Holy Spirit, what would you have me say?” What came back was, “Let go of your judgments and focus on his light, his innocence, his kindness.”

And that’s what I did. I called him and he could hardly speak. He made the occasional grunt, and so I did all the talking. I told him how he has changed my life in such a wonderful way. I reminded him that he gave me a book “The Road Less Travelled” which awakened something inside of me. After reading the book I wanted a therapist, and he recommended the one he was seeing. He told me about Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and I went along. I had a lot of identification with the sharing I heard.

The therapist I started seeing was a 12-step therapist, and he told me that I wasn’t an alcoholic, so Alcoholics Anonymous wasn’t the right meeting for me. But I would benefit from another 12-step fellowship, Codependents Anonymous. I went to a few meetings and this began my spiritual journey.

From there I moved on to Buddhism, which I did for many years, then onto A Course in Miracles. From there I joined a Pathways of Light Ordination program, and became an Ordained Ministerial Counselor.

I told my dying friend that there was nothing of more value than my spiritual journey and I owed it all to him. He was my angel. He made a few grunts that I couldn’t understand, and asked me to please text him.

Soon after I received an email from his wife, telling me that he was smiling all through the phone call, and at the end he said “I love you, please text me.” This was so out of character for a butch guy like him. I’m sure he never told another man he loved them.

This phone call was so healing for the both of us. I am so grateful for God’s Voice, which is always there to heal our minds.

Break Down — Break Through

In the current viewing of the world trans-script it appears there’s quite a bit of separateness going on. Collectively where does this put us?

“The world you made is therefore totally chaotic, governed by arbitrary and senseless “laws,” and without meaning of any kind. For it is made out of what you do not want, projected from your mind because you are afraid of it. Yet this world is only in the mind of its maker, along with his real salvation. Do not believe it is outside of yourself, for only by recognizing where it is will you gain control over it. For you do have control over your mind, since the mind is the mechanism of decision.” (T-12.III.9:6-10)

As we bring the deceptions of “this” world to the altar and offer them as gifts, we can see from a new vantage point. Here we feel welcome. Here we find peace with our Father, with whom we share the pure Mind. Yet to find this place, we must yield to our investment in this material world. We need to give up the meaning we placed upon it. This opens a new experience of allowing the Holy Spirit’s extension to each of us from the altar of Love to perceive things differently.

Ego’s central teaching is always that Love is dangerous. “For the ego cannot love, and in its frantic search for love it is seeking what it is afraid to find.” (T-12.lV.2:3)

But how do we get to the altar? Pain and suffering is one route (breakdown), but tolerance for pain is not without limit. Let’s choose a way we know how to reach Spirit — prayer and meditation.

As myriad trans-scripts have played out in my unconscious mind, manifesting before my very landscape, I fell victim to my own thoughts. The moment arose when I realized, “I am the only one responsible for how I’m feeling right now,” not my past, not another person, hope of what my future may look like, but I am responsible for right now! None of these “things” were happening to me, but that right NOW is all there is.

Prayer gave me that vertical stance with connection to my higher Holy Spirit Self (along with my studies of A Course in Miracles). I was able to pick up a new set of lenses in that moment with Spirit, and see with Christ’s Vision. I had conquered my own perceptions and stepped into a new vantage point — a breakthrough.

But wait! Fear is knocking at the door again… We are being told to, “shelter in place.” Ego is demanding separation. What? Don’t go to work? People are dying? People are suffering, the world is in chaos? Virus? Don’t wear a mask, wear a mask, follow the arrows. Blue vs red? Why are they so angry at each other? What is happening? Am I going to die? Do I have the virus? Am I going to give it to someone?
STOP! Go vertical!

Lesson 132: I loose the world from all I thought it was.

“What keeps the world in chains but your beliefs? And what can save the world except yourself? Belief is powerful indeed. The thoughts you hold are mighty, and illusions are as strong in their effects as in the truth. A madman thinks the world he sees is real, and does not doubt it.” (W-pI.132.1:1-5)

Now, I have another vantage point. Collectively, we are all viewing this threat outside us, or is it within my mind? There’s only one of us here. Whose idea was this? I know the world changes as I change my mind. The world is an effect of what I see, a mirror reflecting what is in my mind. Prayer: Holy Spirit, I hand this perception of this world over to you for reinterpretation 0., Show me how you would have me see this.

This whole world is an attempt to make the real unreal. You want to recognize that what is not Love is really nothing.

Yes but, “But what?” Right NOW is all that matters, right NOW we choose to allow our thoughts to take us straight to Heaven or straight to hell, while here on earth. Remember every day that comes and passes will always be temporary, always changing. But our Father’s Love never alters, it is the one true Source we can always turn to.

LOVE NEVER CHANGES! Love is always in our hearts and in our one mind we share with Him. Close your eyes and ask yourself, observe, “What thought system do my thoughts reflect? Am I thinking with ego? (Breakdown) Or am I thinking with Spirit?” (Breakthrough)

“Seek for that door and find it. But before you try to open it, remind yourself no one can fail who seeks to reach the truth.” (W-pI.131.12:1-2)

“There walks with you the Spirit Heaven sent you, that you might approach this door some day, and through his aid slip effortlessly past it, to the light.” (W-pI.131.14:2)

…No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth.

The human condition is layered with many complexities, many facets. There’s always a control factor within the ego mind. We are in a time of great awakening. Our connection must be at the highest Source of who we are. We must remember how to function within this world from that place of Connection, not from a place of ego. The ego is a tool, but not always the right tool. Our Connection is the power source for the hologram that we are in, and the source of the higher frequency energies coming into our system at this time, which are so important to come into resonance with. We are in a great awakening.

The ego chooses sides; division is the goal. Our collective Spiritual Connection holds the higher resonance that will dissipate fear and anger. Be in the world, but not of it. Pray, meditate daily. There is a polarity occurring to create an arc of energy that ignites change. We are here to continue building that higher spiritual resonance, to rise up! Our job is to channel this spiritual resonance, to assist others to entrain to this Connection, and in coming together, to amplify this.

Many are here with the specific purpose of anchoring Spirit. There is a huge nonphysical staff here to assist us. We are all being called upon to go deeper, spend more time with our Spiritual Connection in our daily practices and with each other on the level of Spirit.

I am honored to be a part of the Pathways Of Light family. I am here to assist; we are here to assist. As we join, let’s lean in together and allow the fears, sorrows, limitations of this world to transform us. We are not alone. May we all rise up collectively with the huge spiritual forces surrounding us and breakthrough together, to a world that lay beyond the dream, beyond form to the eternal present. Who Rules Your Mind?

Who rules your mind?

Have you left the door open for intruders to enter and trash your sense of peace?

Have you given the key to anyone who asks, or worse, demands it?

Do you claim your mind as yours, or do you offer it to whomever wishes to come inside, settle in and, after overstaying their welcome, claim squatter’s rights?

Do you step aside and passively let anyone who dares push their way past the threshold, allowing them the unquestioned freedom to chisel away at your serenity?

I’ll ask you again: Who rules your mind?

If you’re not sure, check in with that guy, guilt, and his buddy, anxiety. Without a moment’s hesitation, they’ll tell you if you’ve given up your rights to them. Listen to what they have to say:

Guilt: “It’s mine! I rule your mind simply by hitting the rewind button, flashing images of fear that cause you pain. I project myself on to anyone who even remotely reminds you of your perceived errors. Once your stomach tightens, your fists clench, and your nightmares cast their shadows, I know that I’m in command!”

Anxiety: “I hit fast forward and blare the sirens. The signposts I look for are sleeplessness, anger and outbursts. I scream at you to judge anyone who triggers your pain. Attack first, fast and furiously! That’s my motto. As soon as your blood pressure soars, I claim my rightful place on the Throne of Control. It’s all about FEAR, baby!’’

You do realize, don’t you, that you have Wisdom sitting in the wings, simply awaiting your invitation to take up full-time residence?

Wait. Why are you still looking down that dark hallway? Turn this way, toward the Light. That’s right. Simply call out to Spirit, “I choose to have You rule my mind.”

Quiet now. Sh-h-h-h-h. What do you hear?

Static? Hm-m-m. Be still and place your ear up to His door. Anything?

Ah-ha, there you go. That’s right. What do you hear now?

Silence? That’s called Peace. Go ahead, open the door and tell me what you see.

Yes, I’m smiling, too. It’s nice to see that serene expression on your face. And you’re glowing. The Light from within has surrounded and engulfed you. Such joy. Such innocence.

You wear it well, My Love.

Lesson 287

Today’s lesson says, “You are my goal, my Father, Only You.” I understand the lesson; the problem is my resistance to do what it is asking.

I’ve been studying ACIM for about fifteen years. I observe the ego taking pride in thinking I understand what it says. I tell myself nothing means more to me than waking up from the dream cycle. Nobody needs to convince me that this world is never going to make me happy. My real life is in recognizing that I never left God. The separation did not occur.

I am very comfortable telling myself this every day. Yet where the rubber meets the road is in practicing forgiveness. This lesson reminds me that my goal is to remember my Father.

The Holy Spirit clearly tells me that entertaining thoughts of anger and judgment support the idea of separation, not oneness and peace. I have a clear choice to make as I sit here reading my daily lesson. I am not confused. If I want to wake up, I cannot keep my fear, anger and judgmental thoughts. It is that simple.

I observe myself condemning hypocrites, yet I am one when I see the clear choice to make and want to indulge my specialness. After all, I’m “right.”

The thought comes that my resistance comes from fear of Love. I am the prodigal child, afraid to go back to my Father. Afraid that there is not going to be any ring given, or robe found to wear, or fatted calf killed in celebration for me.

Have I had enough of living on the husks and pain in the world, a world that exists only in my mind.

It all comes down to, do I want to see my brother as innocent? It is then that I will also see myself as innocent and worthy of my Father’s gifts. Practicing forgiveness is as hard as I make it, or as easy as I make it.

I do not sit in this chair every morning and read the daily Lesson to receive nothing. I want to hear Guidance and am thankful for it. It is time to let myself out of prison since I am the only one holding the key. I shift my desire from judgment to forgiveness.

Forgiveness says that I decide to believe what my ego tells me happened has not occurred. The offending person is not really there. In Text, Chapter 12 we are told: “If you are afraid, it is because you saw something that is not there.” (T-12.VII.10:4) I made the situation up and I recognize that the imagined guilt and fear are in my mind.

I have my peace back when I remember there is no separation and therefore there is only innocence and Love. It is brought to my remembrance what I read yesterday in Text, Chapter 12.

“The power of decision is your one remaining freedom as a prisoner of this world. You can decide to see it right. What you made of it is not its reality, for its reality is only what you gave it.” (T-12.VII.9:1-3)
