In Honor of My Friend Kathy

“Everything is beeeeeeeeuuuuuutiful!” I can hear Kathy saying that right now! Also, I can hear, “Whatever makes you happy!” How wonderful to be given so much trust. She trusted in the wisdom in me to know where my happiness comes from. We were in agreement that real happiness comes from Love, our Inner Source.

Many times I witnessed her practice of not assuming to know anything on her own, and looking to the Holy Spirit for the Right-Minded interpretation. Kathy will always be an example of living the Truth, and that only Love matters.

I want to share an experience a few years back that I had with Kathy in the Bumpity kitchen. (Bumpity is the name of Bob and Kathy Thompson’s residence in Portage, Wisconsin. Many years ago Bob’s children named the road leading to the house Bumpity Road because it was so bumpy.)

We were in the midst of a wonderful gathering, which was a common happening at Bumpity. There were many people, a great program, lot’s of food and plenty of laughter. Kathy and I were sharing the cleanup after the potluck dinner. She was washing the dishes and I was drying. It seemed as though the trail of dishes was endless, but talking and laughing as we worked seemed to lighten the load.

I wondered to my myself, “How does she do all of this work? These gatherings involve a lot — preparing the rooms for those staying over, cleaning, cooking, setting up for the event — the list goes on and on.” So I asked Kathy about this and, responding with a beautiful smile, she said, “Whatever I am doing, I am serving Spirit. While I am preparing for a gathering, whether it be cooking or cleaning or whatever, I am keeping in mind what a joy it is to have a gathering where people come to join to open to Love together. It is my greatest joy to serve Spirit! Joining in Love is all that is important to me.”

Kathy’s answer has changed my entire work ethic. Whatever I seem to be doing, I can have the joyful experience that I am serving Spirit. The task goes much more easily, efficiently and without any glitches. It also seems that I have more energy to do the job!

What a freedom to have this awareness! Anything that I perceive I am doing in this dream can be as joyful as doing dishes at Bumpity Road with my Angel Friend Kathy!

Tomas Vieira’s Healing Update

Hi everyone. Thank you all for your love and support. My thanks to Robert and Mary Stoelting of Pathways of Light who first initiated an appeal for donations to help us live and focus purely on healing and to all who heard the subsequent call to love. Thank you!

Many of you have probably seen the YouTube clip, “Beyond Death to Forgiveness,” I posted September 2nd, 2010… if not go to: Tomas’ YouTube video.

When I made that clip, I was told by a doctor that there was no treatment that would benefit me now and it was time to go home and enjoy the remainder of my days. Nouk, our daughter Rikki and Stacy were then advised of morphine, sedatives etc, that they could inject to make me more comfortable when the time drew near. The emergency injections are also in case of an (ego) expected increase in difficulty in breathing and restriction of both blood and oxygen flow to my head and lungs.

I tell you this not to sensationalize the matter or scare you, but simply to show you what lengths the ego will go to in order to kill you while (seemingly) demonstrating factually and logically, how it will do it! Lots of laughter!

Upon hearing the doctor’s grim report, instead of reacting in any way I might have expected, a beautiful peace descended upon me. I knew at last that I had reached the place of miracles and I had not flinched!
For months I had been preparing for this day and it represented the moment when I would hand over my life entirely to God, to Love itself.

Jesus asks us to have no care for the ego or the body and instead to turn our attention to Him and living His Word. To quote from Matthew in the Bible (6:25, 33) “Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on… But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

When I turned my body and life over to Him (and not the disease), I experienced tremendous relief to find that I am no longer personally responsible for “saving” the body or its life. I feel that I am being guided and that this guidance arises from love and not from fear or doubt. After months of disciplined handing over, I reaped that benefit — and fear is no longer present!

These past months of handing over fear to the Holy Spirit is paying off and the growing sense of gratitude for this time has overwhelmed any sense of poor me or thoughts of potential loss of life.

From that day on, I have chosen to live and to double my discipline of overlooking appearances and, instead, spend my waking moments as close to God as I can. Every morning, I spend a quiet hour with him before anyone else is up. From there my day is full of love, laughter, meditation and witnessing God everywhere, and in everyone.

Jesus promises us that He can look after the body and the ego, but we are responsible for turning over any fear or doubt, and then trusting Him that no harm can befall us. To date, aside from some discomfort at times, I have experienced no pain nor have I suffered one day… except for the psychological suffering the ego tries to induce with its story of death and destruction. No ego story is true and I denounce it on behalf of all of us. Our brother Jesus became Christ our Savior because he saw the false without accepting it as true and that is our task folks. It is time!

This has been a joint effort — I see groups in concentric circles — on the inner circle, those with me here daily have held the light of truth, unwavering in the face of the illusory threat of the ego, to outer circles of people whom I have not yet met but who have been drawn by Holy Spirit into the healing circle. I marvel daily at His working and know that all is in perfect and divine order and therefore I am (as we all are) safe in God.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for having the courage to join me in this journey of healing. I am so blessed.

Just a Miracle Worker on the Planet

As I was navigating my way through an extremely busy airport on a hot summer afternoon, balancing a cup of coffee and a bagel, carrying my briefcase and pulling my carryon bag behind me, I was smiling, yet determined to make my way through the crowd of people, some sitting on the floor, some sharing seats, to one empty seat at the gate.

As I sat down, reveling in my journey and not spilling one ounce of my coffee, I sat down next to a man who was also waiting for the same flight. As they announced yet another delay for our flight, I smiled and thought, okay… another delay!

I reached into my briefcase and pulled out my book, A Course in Miracles. I have papers stuffed into it, multiple bookmarks, highlighted pages and pictures, and was working to keep everything from falling out onto the floor.

The man next to me looked at me and inquisitively asked, “A Course in Miracles?”  I smiled and said, “Yes, just a miracle worker on the planet…” and opened my book. As I opened my book, I was moved to look up at him and said, “Have you been traveling all day?” He smiled back and said, “Yes I attended a Neurology conference in Hawaii for the last five days and I am heading home.” I said, “Oh, Neurologist huh?  What a gift you are to the planet… kind of like you are a miracle worker as well.”

He was quick to dismiss my comment as he said, “Well I wouldn’t call it that. I specialize in brain surgery, and with tears in his eyes, he said, “My latest surgery on a young boy didn’t go very well. After multiple surgeries, he died during surgery a few weeks ago and I just can’t seem to get this out of my mind… I did everything right…” as his voice trailed off, saying, “I don’t talk to people about this, so I apologize for telling you now.”

I smiled back at him and said, “You know, although you use your hands and your mind to understand the body and perform surgery, you do know that it’s not really up to you when people decide to leave the planet. God works through you. I’m not saying you made a mistake and as a result he died. I’m saying that sometimes we show up and through us we carry out God’s plan… So, I just want to tell you, that sometimes God has a greater plan for all of us… even that young boy… and we really don’t know what anything is for,  why he developed his medical condition or why it was his time to leave.”

As he sat with my words, he closed his eyes; I could see his whole body posture relax as the energy was shifting within him. I could see his mind was being healed, and all I was doing was holding the space to help him see the Truth.

Just then, they announced that the plane had arrived earlier than expected and we began boarding the plane. I can still see that man’s face in my mind’s eye. I have no idea what his name is, or where he lives. All I know is that ‘chance meeting’ changed my life forever…

As I truly don’t know what anything is for… delayed planes, busy airports or traffic jams… I trust we are all in the right place at the right time for God’s perfect plan for all of us.

I Think the Holy Spirit Is Trying to Tell Me Something

I think the Holy Spirit is trying to tell me something. I keep getting the same message. Last night I was studying The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament with some friends. We read from Matthew 23:

Listen to Me. You fool yourself when you listen to the purposes of the world, for you tell yourself that things are important when they are not. Do what you must do within the world, but let Me guide you in determining what must be done.

This seems to be the message that Holy Spirit has been trying to get across to me the last few days and last night He used NTI to underline that message. A few days ago I awoke with the prayer in my heart that I would follow Holy Spirit’s guidance throughout the day. I went about my business of getting ready for work and then I looked at my schedule. I had several customers to see and knew I would have to hustle to get them all into this one day.

When I got to my second customer I knew that I only needed to take some samples for him and that this should go pretty quickly, but as I was taking the samples he started talking to me about some problems in his life. He told me about taking his 10 year old son to the doctor and finding out he has several very serious illnesses including multiple sclerosis. At this point I had to make a choice. Did I want to listen to the purpose of the world? The purpose the world gave me for this day was to see a certain number of customers and the world said this was very important. If I fell short of my goal then I would have to find a way to make up for it (and I didn’t see how I could do that with my full schedule) or I could lose a customer or at the very least get in trouble with my boss.

I will tell you the truth; it was a great temptation to believe the purpose of the world. I could easily have made sympathetic noises and then redirected the conversation to work. Then I would get the job done and move on to the next customer and would certainly get to them all by the end of the day. The ego would call this a successful day. While deciding the meaning I would give this situation, my customer asked me if I still had a ministry. I knew that this signaled his need to talk and that it would probably be a long conversation, but it also signaled to my mind that I serve a higher purpose than the world’s.

We did have a long conversation as we pulled samples. I was helpful to him and he was helpful to me. I was able to offer comfort and reassurances as I stepped back and let Holy Spirit lead the way. As I listened to my customer with an open mind, I was able to hear past his traditional religious language to the message of the Heart. He used words and concepts that don’t work for me, but they are just symbols. The true message was one of love and trust and this is something I do understand. I left him feeling strengthened in my own love and trust. And I was so grateful that I had given my attention to my true purpose rather than the purpose of the world. Oh, and everything got done on time because the next customer cancelled and my schedule was back where it needed to be.

I received the same message yesterday. I guess the Holy Spirit decided I needed to reinforce this message while it was still fresh in my mind. I sell chemicals to water systems and in the summer people use a lot of water so I am very busy, with a full schedule nearly every day. There is a lot of pressure to work hard to fulfill the company’s expectations of me, and to be sure all my customers are taken care of. This is the world’s purpose for my day.

I had another day that was overfilled and was very nervous about getting it all done. But as I had the other day, I began by asking the Holy Spirit to be in charge.  When I got to my very first customer he was not there and I had to wait on him. I felt a surge of frustration and realized I needed to use that time to regroup. It certainly wasn’t the Holy Spirit telling me that my customer was thoughtless and that my day was totally messed up. So I gave that waiting time to the Holy Spirit to renew my commitment to His guidance.

When I spoke on the phone to the customer I offered to do the work without him so he would not have to rush over, but he said he would join me soon. I was disappointed because I would have to wait for him but also because he likes to visit when I come by and that takes more time, so I was very surprised when he did show up because he was not being very talkative. I was feeling some relief and was on my way back to my car when I felt the Holy Spirit nudge me. I turned back to him and asked how his family was doing.

Well that certainly opened the flood gates! He had some family problems and he obviously needed to talk about them. I think his hesitation came from my desire to get through and get out of there. Even when we don’t express verbally, the one mind shares this information. There is a sense of what is going unsaid. It turned out to be a really important conversation and he needed confirmation that the choice he was making was, in fact, the result of listening to God. We talked about true intent and about God being completely trustworthy and never leading us astray. He felt better for the conversation, reassured, and I felt better for having remembered my true purpose.

I fell short of time yesterday and didn’t get to see my last customer. Maybe today I will be able to squeeze him in, but I am beginning to realize that what I told my customer is true for me, too. I can trust God. Clearly, I needed to be with him, giving him my full attention, so if that put me short for the day I know that I will not suffer for that outcome. If I need to see the missed customer the time will be made. If it is not, then I trust that I didn’t really need to see him. I am glad that I chose not to fool myself by believing that the world knows what is important. I also choose to give this day to the Holy Spirit as well. I choose to remember my purpose is not the purpose of the world.
