Joining in Love

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Let peace lead the way today. With peace leading the way, it is easy to laugh at the antics of the ego. With peace leading the way, you are open to inspiration in the moment. Practice this today and watch how well it works. Let yourself feel the happiness that peace brings with it. Have a happy day.

Robert:
My heart’s desire is to follow Holy Spirit’s lead in every moment. It appears that there is a decision that I categorize as “major.” (Note: All categories are of the ego.) The perception of “major” is a mechanism of the ego to make appearances seem real. I am grateful that the Holy Spirit is not deceived by appearances.

I take this perception of a major decision and place it on the Holy Spirit’s altar. I step back and notice that there still seems to be little threads attaching me to what I put on the altar. The Holy Spirit gives me a scissors and I use it to cut the threads.

I stand in peace and gratitude, feeling the strength of Holy Spirit’s presence in me. He reminds me that He knows exactly what is most helpful for all. He knows exactly what serves the plan of Atonement. He reminds me that the plan of Atonement is to return me and all my brothers to the happiness, freedom and peace that is God’s Will for the Son of God. I take time to let the awareness of Holy Spirit’s presence grow stronger.

I see Him wrapping the decision I placed on the altar in a blanket of Love. Now it appears to be like a glowing sphere and within this sphere are figures representing all who are blessed by the joining in Love that is offered in this experience. At first I see only a few people, but as I look closer, I realize that the blessing extends beyond the horizon. It has no limits because Love’s blessing is eternal.

I rest in Love’s blessing and feel its strength. I know I can trust in this strength. I feel blessed by the opportunity to participate in this joining that extends far beyond what the body’s eyes can see. Thank you, Father.

Laugh at Fear Thoughts

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Rest in My Love. Here is your only real strength. Let Me guide your dream by not deciding anything on your own. I am here in your mind to make straight your path and clear all obstacles from your way. There are no obstacles but those you make up to interfere with your awareness of what God would have you have. I clear your way by helping you clear away the obstacles you have made.

To do this I need your help. I need your willingness to turn over to me all your thoughts and beliefs. I need your willingness to let me decide on your behalf, to let me be your interpreter of all things. Whenever you attempt to make plans on your own, you are choosing to keep obstacles between what you experience and what is the truth about you. I offer you freedom. All you need to is be willing to accept it.

Today remind yourself often, “I will step back and let Love lead the way.” This is how you allow yourself to be carried. This is how you will have a happy day.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
As you go through this time of transition, remember to laugh at fear thoughts. Fear thoughts come into your mind because you are bringing the past to the present. The past is nowhere and nothing. But when you take these thoughts seriously, you are making them real in your mind.  You can tell when this is going on by the level of tension you feel. When you are tense, you are not remembering to laugh. You are forgetting to see these thoughts as really nothing and meaningless.

As you learn to give these thoughts to Me, I then have the opportunity to show you that they are just really meaningless thoughts carried forward from the past. When these thoughts are given to me, I can show you that they are nothing and together we can laugh at the absurdity of thinking these thoughts are real.

Watch your mind for fear thoughts today and as soon as you discover them, hand them over to me for a correction in your perception. These thoughts are really insane, but it is difficult to recognize this while you are keeping them to yourself. Hand them over right away and you will shorten the time of struggle and pain. As we join together in looking at everything in your world, we will laugh frequently together. The dream grows gentler and smoother as we practice not taking the dream so seriously. Surrendering your dream offers Me the opportunity to bring you the happy dream where we see past illusions to the truth.

Giving all your experiences in time to Me is worth the effort. It is worth the vigilance. Seeing the ego for what it is is our purpose now. For when we see that it is truly meaningless, we can chuckle at the absurdity of its ideas. Let’s let today be another day of practice in joining with Me in everything you think and do. This vigilance will pay big dividends in your transition from bondage to freedom. You are moving from the caterpillar stage to the freedom of the butterfly. Let’s celebrate this transition together now as you practice every step.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Give time to quiet listening today. Invite God in. Invite peace in. Let your invitation to peace be the segue to a greater understanding of your true purpose, today and every day.

Let the Holy Spirit do its healing work in its own way. Just be willing to invite It in. Be receptive and willing to let go of your pet perceptions that are limiting you. Be willing to let them be washed away. Would you rather be right or happy? The Holy Spirit knows how to bring you true and lasting happiness. It is your function now to accept the undoing of your dream of separation.

Listen and receive. Practice this frequently today.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
I wanna hold your hand. I am here to remind you that you are loved and you are Love. I am here to help you remove the self-made barriers that hide your Love from you. Walk with Me today. Let Me extend Love through you. Hold My hand and together we will see God’s Love reflected back to us from all our brothers. What you see in them will remind you of What you are. Let us be in Love together.

I wanna hold your hand. Together we will fulfill our function and know that we are Love.

Be Carried

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Let yourself be carried. The world you see is the effect of unwillingness to be carried. It is the wish to be in control and decide on your own what is real and what is not. This wish is the denial of God’s gift of eternal Love. It is the denial of God’s strength and peace. Let yourself be carried by accepting your heritage. You are your Father’s creation. He has given you all of Himself, which is all that is real. The wish for anything else is the wish that fantasies be real. Fantasies are not worthy of you. Your Father cares enough to give you the very best – all of Himself.

Imagine that you are riding on a Segway machine. This machine is Self guided. You simply let yourself be carried. You ride effortlessly along the way your Self has laid out for you. According to your Self’s plan, it stops or turns or waits. You feel completely confident that it is always bringing you to the right place at the right time and brings to your attention what is needed in the moment. You simply relax and let it roll through the good times given you by God.

As you let yourself be carried, you relax more and more. Your mind becomes more and more calm as it becomes less distracted by efforts to plan on its own. Your trust grows as you consistently follow in the way you are carried. You are learning to accept your inheritance.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Your only meaningful purpose is to wake up from the dream of separation. You do this by opening to your inner Guide, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides you to letting go of the past and the future. The Holy Spirit leads you to an awareness of peace in the eternal present.

Practicing this helps you let go of the reins. Practicing this helps you disengage from thinking that you know anything. Your total focus is on following the Holy Spirit in the present moment because you remember that on your own you do not know what anything means.

You relax and follow. That is all.

Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Robert:
Today we read in the Text of A Course in Miracles:

Let us be still an instant, and forget all things we ever learned, all thoughts we had and every preconception that we hold of what things mean and what their purpose is. Let us remember not our own ideas of what the world is for. We do not know. Let every image held of everyone be loosened from our minds and swept away. (ACIM T-31.I.12)

It goes on to say that when we do this we free ourselves to live as we are free, “because an ancient learning passed away, and left a place for truth to be reborn.”

So the means to return Home is simply to forget all things we ever learned. This seems simple enough, yet in our experience, it seems hard to let go of all we learned. This is because we learned it because we wanted it. We wanted to be special and unique. We wanted to have a domain we could call our own. We have taught ourselves that we have achieved this goal. In this section we are also told, “No one who understands what you have learned… could ever doubt the power of your learning skill. There is no greater power in the world. …for your power to learn is strong enough to teach you that your will is not your own, your thoughts do not belong to you, and even you are someone else.” (T-31.I.3:1-2, 6)

This is very encouraging to me. It’s telling me that the very fact that I see a physical world of bodies and planets and stars is a demonstration of the magnitude of my learning skills. This is no small feat. It shows me that if I can make these fantasy images seem so real, I also have the ability to learn that I am free of all these false images. I simply need to choose another goal. The purpose of the Course is to teach me that the goal I chose is valueless and that the goal I really want is where all meaning lies. Only Love is real and therefore only Love has meaning. The only goal I really want is Love.

The way to achieve this goal is to let go of all judgment. Today is another day to practice having no opinions of my own and holding my mind open to Holy Spirit’s interpretation in every moment. This is how I will learn to look past the images presented by my past learning so that I can see that only Love is there. I will recognize the Love that is in me by Its reflection in everything I look upon.

Mary:
As I go to Spirit this morning, the words come to me: Simple, uncomplicated Love. What comes to me with this is that my practice today is to remember that behind every image lies simple, uncomplicated Love. Repeating these words like a mantra all through the day allows the veil of separation to be lifted to reveal what is really there — simple, uncomplicated Love.

It may look like I have many things to do today in the world. But right now it is very clear to me that my most important job is to allow myself to remember that only simple, uncomplicated Love is real. The rest is simply the dream of separation. This is how I move past fear to freedom with the Holy Spirit.

The Schoolhouse

Robert:
Today we read in the Text of A Course in Miracles, “If you would be a happy learner, you must give everything you have learned to the Holy Spirit, to be unlearned.” (T-14.II.6:1) In another place in the Course it says that we must question everything we think we know. It is this practice of questioning that prepares the way for us to give everything we have learned to the Holy Spirit.

This is an essential first step. Without the willingness to give our beliefs to the Holy Spirit, there can be no release from the world of dreams. There will just be a tenacious holding on to the made up world that we seem to see. Without this willingness, we remain chained to a world of limitation and fear. The willingness to question leaves a crack for the Holy Spirit’s Light to shine through.

What stands out most to me in this quote is “…to be unlearned for you.” Right now I am identified with an image of a separate identity. That image comes from a closed thought system that is incapable of recognizing truth on its own. But the Holy Spirit can see the foundation of this thought system and knows it is nothing. That is why it is the Holy Spirit that unlearns for us the faulty lessons we have taught ourselves. From within the thought system of separation we cannot conceive how this unlearning can happen. This doesn’t matter. We only need to be willing to let the Holy Spirit do the unlearning for us.

Today is another day to practice giving everything I think I’ve learned to the Holy Spirit so that it can be unlearned for me.

Mary:
As I go into the place of inner quiet, the thought of letting go and letting God is there. What comes is a lesson in how to more fully let go and let God. The first stage involves what I would describe as a “melting” phase, like butter melting in warmer temperatures. I let the Holy Spirit melt away all the tension. I let go of my hold on the physical body — especially the muscles around my eyes, shoulders and arms. It is something that I allow and the Holy Spirit does it for me.

Along with this letting go of the physical body comes a phase of letting go of the thoughts that stream into my mind. I get the picture of a large fireplace. I am sitting with Holy Spirit in front of the fireplace and letting the thoughts that come into my mind stream into the light of the fire. I am aware that this process is effortless. It only requires me to be willing to allow this process to be experienced.

In the next phase I experience a time of deep inner quiet where everything is still…

The next phase spontaneously comes from the Holy Spirit, where I receive insight that is most helpful to me now in my process of awakening to the truth.

What comes to me is the idea that in truth I am safe in Heaven and that the dream does not change anything. Bodies move around in the dream and have different experiences, but in truth nothing changes in the eternal Life I live in God. There is such a feeling of safety and security, and I see that I need not worry about anything.

I see that the experiences in this life are like a schoolhouse with a constant flow of lessons. With Holy Spirit, I learn the lessons easily and see the truth behind the illusions. Saying frequently as I go through these experiences, “Holy Spirit, how would you have me see this?” is very important to accelerate my process of waking up from the dream and helping my brother in the process.

There is a deep sense of inner fulfillment as I see that the only purpose of every experience is to be a happy learner of Holy Spirit’s lessons. Right now I feel a very deep sense of gratitude that the Holy Spirit is there helping me all the time. It only takes my willingness to listen.

I Will Step Back and Let Him Lead the Way

Robert:
It seems so tempting to make plans and try to solve “problems” on my own. Part of my mind thinks that it knows what should happen and what should be done to make it happen. But that part of my mind bases its “confidence” on experience from the past and is therefore severely limited, let alone in fantasy. It cannot conceive of the full scope of all that are involved and effected by the plans it makes.

It seems that when Holy Spirit gave us the guidance to move the Pathways of Light Center to Florida that It was intensifying the training to teach us to make no decisions or plans on our own. We were content with where we were and what appeared to be there for us to do. But Holy Spirit rocked the boat, letting us know that it was time to think outside the box that we were unconsciously living in.

Since receiving that guidance, there has been a continuous stream of lessons that have been helping us break down the self-imposed limitations. It’s still happening. For us to be truly happy we must consistently step back and let Him lead the way. The Holy Spirit knows no limits. The Holy Spirit knows what is truly helpful to achieve God’s plan of Atonement. Our job is to continue to step back, let go and be carried. The more we do this, the happier we are. It is worth the vigilance.

Mary:
We have found a property about one hour north of the Orlando airport that seems even better than we could have imagined. The builder/owner focused on making this 10,000 sq. ft. unfinished building extremely energy efficient and planned for it to be a place where missionaries from his church could rest and recuperate.

Because of the downturn in the economy, he needs to sell it at a price that we hope will be within our range. Not only does it have a very large room for seminars, but it also has several bedrooms with their own baths, so people could come and join us in studying A Course in Miracles together. We love the property. It has privacy and quietness yet close proximity to hotels and a variety of restaurants. The question is, can we afford it financially?

I find that my mind jumps to looking for ways that we could make this work. This morning as I go to Spirit in quietness, I am reminded once again to relax, to trust and to hand over the reins to Holy Spirit. I am reminded once again of the famous sentence in the Course: “In quietness is every problem quietly resolved.” In this place of quietness I see that it is not my job to figure out how to make this work. It is my job to let go of the past and the future and open my mind to Holy Spirit’s inspiration in the present moment.

Yesterday I opened to the lesson, “There is nothing my holiness cannot do.” If this property is in the Holy Spirit’s plan for us, it will work out quite nicely without my trying to figure anything out on my own. This is good practice for me today to hand over the reins and remember once again that I know nothing. It is only the Holy Spirit Who knows the big picture and the timing that is best for all concerned. In quietness is every problem quietly resolved.
