Let the Past Go or Hold On to It?

This movie awards season has brought together two coincidently similar yet contrasting movies. Both are true stories, both have major events happening in the middle of last century, both involve travel between the UK and America, and both feature women and the traumatic life events they have experienced as young people. And yet, even with all these similarities they offer two clear examples of the effects of forgiving the past or not forgiving the past.

We Don’t Need to Settle for Halfway Houses

The Course says that the problem is not that we ask for too much, but far, far too little. (Lesson 133) It is encouraging us that the real goal of total awakening to our true nature and our relationship with God is the only one worth achieving. In fact, as only God’s plan for salvation will work, it would seem that this is the only game in town. In fact, why would we want to settle for anything less than remembering who we are as unlimited beings, one with God and each other where our true nature is peace and happiness itself? What ‘in the world’ would cause us to have lesser goals than this?

Living A Course in Miracles: On Forgiveness

I often wanted to explain this sentence, but could not find the right words: “There is a thin line between being forgiving and being a victim.” I used to assume that forgiveness is to let go, look someone in the eye and say: “You hurt me but I will do better than you, I will not hurt you back, I will instead walk away.” And once I walk away, I start to what the Course describes as “attack” my own self. The result: I made a victim of my brother and me.

Stepping into the Light Within

A few years ago, A Course in Miracles and I met for the first time. There it was, staring at me from a bookshelf, inviting me in and offering a life full of inner peace and miracles. I opened the book, flipped through the pages quickly, and thought, “Nah, this is not for me.”

After that first encounter, experiences kept aligning just like that; ACIM would come up in conversations with friends, other books that I read, audio books that I listened to in the car and emails that I received inviting me to different workshops and meet up groups. It was an endless nudge from the Universe and as much as I would try to ignore it or push it away, I still felt the calling and I knew it was inevitable.

This brings up ‘fear of nothingness.’ It seems the world is filled with something, we think, but there is really nothing.

Remember to Breathe…

At our ACIM study group this morning we were looking at Chapter 1 of the Text. The subject moved to talking about what we want as opposed to what God wants for us and the ideas around the ego and conscious intent to make things happen. My entire life has been pretty much trying to make things happen, how I wanted them to be — unsurprisingly unsuccessfully I might add. In fact I was so not good at it, and the anxiety that it produced was so intense, that I would find myself chronically unable to breathe properly.

The One About Football

Beginning last August, The Seattle Seahawks football team won their four preseason games, and the thought, “is this our year for the super bowl?” was given birth. In the next seventeen weeks, the Seahawks won practically every game, earned home field advantage throughout the playoffs and as I write this, are just four days away from the biggest sporting event possibly in the world.

A Common and Unrecognized Trap — Personal Ego Does Not Exist

If you have forgiven yourself for unknowingly using someone, yourself or a situation, to attack yourself and you have already accepted Spirit’s Atonement (correction of your perception), then it is important to let it go, to trust that it has been healed, regardless of continuing appearances at the form level.

If you still feel a loss of peace, then the ego has made another judgment. Do not believe it. Once you have allowed a Holy Instant where you genuinely surrendered your judgment and accepted Atonement, then it is done. To doubt that it has been healed is really self-doubt. However, this healing is brought about by Holy Spirit and not by your mistaken identity, so any doubt that arises is from the ego and is not real. Trust is called for now. Love without trust is impossible. Doubt and Love cannot co-exist. Choose one and the other must fall away.

One of them is mostly turned on.
I hear it going all the time
and I am so used to it,
that I hardly notice its
continual ‘announcements.’

The other station I need to choose
consciously, by first turning off the
first one and listen to the stillness.

The Focus of Pathways of Light — An Ongoing Healing Journey

We have been inspired to share about how we have worked with Spirit for the last 40 years and where Spirit has led us. Our experience has been that Spirit works with us in the moment. Spirit has never given us a five year plan. Yet we always receive what we need when we need it.

We have observed that Holy Spirit’s one goal over all these years has been to help us all realize that, in this “world,” we are dreaming a dream and its content is not true. We are not separate bodies with separate minds. In truth we are one Mind, the same Spirit of Love that our Creator is. That is why A Course in Miracles tells us in the Introduction, “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

My Pilgrimage to Pathways

For some reason of which I was unaware, Spirit was prompting me to take a trip from my home on Long Island to Ormand Beach, Florida — the new home of Pathways of Light. I was to take this trip alone and I was to drive, not fly. I had a new Mustang convertible for the journey. I really did not know the true purpose of the trip other than to visit Robert and Mary and see the new headquarters of our organization.
