Accepting God’s Grace

Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains, that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.169.2)

This is my prayer today: Holy Spirit, today is for opening to and receiving Your gift of grace. All fear thoughts disappear as I step back and become willing to receive the blessings of Your gift of grace. I know that it all starts with my willingness to let You fill my mind with peace and the Love of God. As I do this, everything else disappears and I know that all is safe in the Mind of God, where I am at Home. Thank You for Your gift of grace. It is how my mind is healed as I am willing to accept Your gift.

The means for accepting the Love of God is forgiveness. As judgment is a defense against Love, forgiveness welcomes Love. Today my practice is to forgive by holding my mind open to the Holy Spirit’s interpretation in each moment. This is how I will see past my judgments to the truth of our oneness in Love.

Bringing the Ego to God

Bringing illusion to truth, or the ego to God, is the Holy Spirit’s only function. Keep not your making from your Father, for hiding it has cost you knowledge of Him and of yourself. The knowledge is safe, but where is your safety apart from it? The making of time to take the place of timelessness lay in the decision to be not as you are. Thus truth was made past, and the present was dedicated to illusion. And the past, too, was changed and interposed between what always was and now. The past that you remember never was, and represents only the denial of what always was. (A Course in Miracles T-14.IX.1:4-10)

As we learn about the ego, it seems easy to make it into an adversary which we need to defend against. There is a difference between defensiveness and vigilance. We do need to be vigilant to identify when we are choosing the ego as our guide. If we recognize that we have been following the ego and try to fight it on our own, we simply reinforce the belief that the ego is real. This keeps us chained to a belief in what could never be true.

When we recognize that we have been following the ego, the next important step is to bring these thoughts to the Holy Spirit, the Truth in our minds. The Light of truth will make it clear that the ego is nothing more than an illusion. As we recognize this, the illusion is naturally and easily let go.

Today our practice is to be vigilant to recognize when we are following the ego and offer those thoughts to the Truth to be corrected. This is how we shift our allegiance from error to truth.

Step Back and Follow

This is my prayer for today: Holy Spirit, I would decide nothing on my own. I will use today to practice stepping back and listening to Your perspective. I use today to let go of the future and let go of the past. In this present moment I will trust Your guidance. In this present moment I am willing to have my belief in separation be undone. I am willing to be reminded that there is no future and there is no past, only the eternal Now. In this moment I am willing to receive and extend the truth. This is my practice for today.

When I step back and let Holy Spirit lead the way, He always leads me to happiness and peace. Today is a happy day of practicing stepping back and letting Him lead the way.

Valuing Truth Instead of Illusion

Every illusion you accept into your mind by judging it to be attainable removes your own sense of completion, and thus denies the Wholeness of your Father. Every fantasy, be it of love or hate, deprives you of knowledge for fantasies are the veil behind which truth is hidden. To lift the veil that seems so dark and heavy, it is only needful to value truth beyond all fantasy, and to be entirely unwilling to settle for illusion in place of truth. (A Course in Miracles T-16.IV.10:2-4)

Fantasies of separate bodies with separate minds are not true. Thinking they are is just a barrier to the awareness of Love’s presence. Today I would practice letting these barriers to Love be lifted by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit shows me the reality behind the illusions of individuality. Today I would step back and ask to see the truth behind every illusion. I would let my mind be healed today of all the barriers to Love I am still holding in my mind.

All judgments in this world are based on the belief that separate bodies with separate minds are real. These judgments are thus a defense against the reality of Love’s oneness. Forgiveness lays down the defense and welcomes the blessing of Love’s Presence. Today I ask the Voice within for help to recognize the judgments that keep the veil in place and to see past them to the Light of Love that is ever present.

Listen as a Little Child

Because the ego sets up a constant flow of problems when it is dominant in our minds, the ego cannot be the true source to solve our perceived problems. The only true solution is to step back and be as a little child, opening to the guidance of our inner Teacher. Our inner Teacher goes past the realm of time and space to the truth of the eternal now. Our inner Teacher goes past our ego stories of constant problems. As we are willing, It brings us to the eternal peace and sense of well being that comes with accepting our true Nature.

As we are willing to be quiet and listen, we are inspired as to what would be truly helpful in every circumstance. So our practice today is to allow time for quiet listening and be as a little child, remembering we have all the help we need as we let go of trying to solve problems on our own.

Remembering to See as God Sees

The world I see holds my fearful self-image in place, and guarantees its continuance. While I see the world as I see it now, truth cannot enter my awareness. I would let the door behind this world be opened for me, that I may look past it to the world that reflects the Love of God.

In my own mind, behind all my insane thoughts of separation and attack, is the knowledge that all is one forever. I have not lost the knowledge of Who I am because I have forgotten it. It has been kept for me in the Mind of God, Who has not left His Thoughts. And I, who am among them, am one with them and one with Him.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.56.3:2-4.5:2-5)

Let me remember that today is for mind healing. I have been used to believing in what the body’s eyes show me. Now my purpose is to let the door be opened so that the Light of God can show me the Love behind the images of this world. I let the door be opened by wanting to see with the eyes of Christ. I will see as Love sees as I am willing to want this above all else. God has not left my mind just because I have forgotten It. I will be shown a new way of seeing as I allow it. This is what today is for.

The foundation of forgiveness is the recognition that everything the body’s eyes see is not true. That means I must remove my belief in what the body’s eyes see and give full attention to the vision of Christ. This vision opens the door behind this world to show me the Love that is ever-present.

Seeing Past the Dream

Let us be still an instant, and forget all things we ever learned, all thoughts we had, and every preconception that we hold of what things mean and what their purpose is. Let us remember not our own ideas of what the world is for. We do not know. Let every image held of everyone be loosened from our minds and be swept away.

Be innocent of judgment, unaware of any thoughts of evil or of good that ever crossed your mind of anyone. Now do you know him not. But you are free to learn of him, and learn of him anew. Now is he born again to you, and you are born again to him, without the past that sentenced him to die, and you with him. Now is he free to live as you are free, because an ancient learning passed away, and left a place for truth to be reborn. (A Course in Miracles T-31.I.12-13)

Today my practice is to be willing to see past the dream of separate bodies. This practice takes vigilance. I must step back from all I think I know and open to a different way of seeing. If I am willing, the Holy Spirit shows me what is true beyond the dream — the constant presence of God’s eternal Love. Here I find peace. Here I find the truth. Today is for expanding my willingness to see past the dream by opening up to my inner Teacher Who is always there to show me the eternal truth.

It’s interesting to observe how habitually my first response in any situation is to look to my past learning for help to understand the present. This is the ego defense against seeing the present as it is. The truth is only in the present. And this the ego would avoid at all costs. I am grateful that this defensive habit can be broken. I have a mighty Companion in my mind Who brings the strength of God to help me when I am willing to consider another way of seeing. I am not left on my own. In fact it is believing I am on my own that keeps me repeating the cycles of the past.

Father, today I am willing to accept Your help through your Voice in my mind to see all things as You would see them. Thank you for your gift of strength and peace.
