Remembering Love

Mary:
This is my prayer for today: Let my mind quiet, Father, that I may remember You. The quiet joy of Heaven is Your gift to me. As I am willing to receive Your gift, I see the Light of Heaven in everyone. I willingly forget everyone’s past and open to the eternal Present, which shows me that only Your Light is what is true. I willingly move past time to become aware again of Your eternal Presence.

Robert:
My practice today is to step back and let Holy Spirit lead the way, let my true Self lead the way. This is another way of saying that I want Love to be my Guide. This is how I see the truth in my brother and my Self. This is how I let go of the past, for Love never judges. This is how I will experience the joy of the eternal Present.

Acknowledging Our One Self

Mary:
In our reading in the Workbook of A Course in Miracles this morning, this paragraph stood out:

You are as God created you. Today honor your Self. Let graven images you made to be the Son of God instead of what he is be worshipped not today. Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledge as you. And you are lost and do not know yourself while He is unacknowledged and unknown. (W-pI.110.9)

Today my practice is to give acknowledgment to the one Self we all share. This means that I have to let go of the self-image I have made. Today is devoted to vigilance to acknowledging our one Self. This is all I want; this is all I need.

Robert:
I have observed that I am much happier when I am not judging. Having an opinion is a downer. It makes my “happiness” dependent upon situations, things and people being the way my opinion says they should be. Opinions declare that I am unwilling to accept God’s gift of eternal joy and would rather have some image that I make up to my liking.

So ultimately every opinion is a judgment against God. Why would I do that? Only if I believe that it is possible that I could have more than everything. That is the core of the ego thought system. I can go on seeking for brief moments of seeming happiness when my opinion is that I like the circumstance or I can let go of a crazy idea that I could have more than all of God. Since Love (God) is all there is, only this eternal Love given me and everyone wholly and completely will ever satisfy. This Love is changeless. It does not come and go. Being ever present, it is there, waiting only upon my acknowledgment.

Today I practice acknowledging the Love, the Christ, the one Self that I am along with everyone. And I will have a happy day.

Seeing with Holy Spirit

Robert:
What would I experience if I accepted that only Love is real? I would experience joy a thousand times beyond the happiest moment in my experience in time. I would feel complete and whole, invulnerable in the certainty that I am one with all. I would experience the free exchange of giving and receiving Love without end. And I would experience peace so deep that it cannot be disturbed. All this comes with the acceptance of the reality of Love.

The fact that I do not experience this shows that I am believing in an hallucination of what I am and where I am. This belief comes from a hidden wish to have a unique and special identity that I can call my own. All judgments about anything in the world stem from this wish. They make it appear that I have succeeded in making a separate self, different from what God created.

With these judgments comes guilt. There cannot be one without the other. The body’s seeing was made to justify judgments and therefore guilt. It is impossible to believe that the images of the world are real without having guilt come with it.

The good news is that there is another means for seeing. This seeing looks past the images of the world and shows me the reality of Love. It shows me that what I have valued, and all the pain and suffering, fear and guilt that come with it, has no value and is not real. This vision shows me the way to return to the Love That created me and that I am.

Today I ask the Holy Spirit’s help to see as He sees, to look past the images of the world and see the face of Love reflected back to me. This is how I forgive the world.

Mary:
This is my prayer for today: Holy Spirit, help me to see Your Will in all things today. I ask to perceive the world as You see it. My goal today is to stay relaxed by consistently accepting Your gift of peace that is always there for me. I pray that I decide nothing on my own that I may by shown the Love That is everywhere.

Forgiveness Sets Us Free

Robert:
In recent days there has been much jubilation, for “the wicked witch is dead.” Osama bin Laden is a magnificent target for the projection of the guilt we believe in. It seems easy to see him as a sinner whose deeds are far more onerous than anything we would do. This is how the ego “helps” us feel less guilty by seeing another as more guilty. Yet what is really going on is that by seeing another as guilt we maintain our own guilt.

As we were reading in A Course in Miracles today, these sentences stood out to me: “The body cannot be looked upon except by judgment. Who sees a brother’s body has laid a judgment on him, and sees him not. It is impossible to see your brother as sinless and yet to look upon him as a body.” (T-20.VII.8:1, 6:1, 4:1)

This is an essential key to forgiveness. To see the innocence in a brother we must use vision not of our own making, but given to us by the Holy Spirit. That is how we can see any brother, no matter what the body appears to have done, as innocent. It is in seeing our brother as innocent that we see our own innocence reflected back to us.

We also read today, “Only my condemnation injures me. Only my own forgiveness sets me free.” (ACIM, W-pI.198.9:3-4) This forgiveness comes by using the vision of Christ, which is not of our own making. This vision comes from beyond the thought system of separation, being a gift of God. Today is a day to practice opening my heart and mind to the gift that helps me see the face of Christ in every brother beyond any bodily appearance.

Mary:
Today it is my opportunity to let go of all I think I “know.” Today is an opportunity to be as a little child and be taught what is true.

We all are still as God created us. We are one Son — Love’s extension — and we cannot change that. Believing in individuality and separation from your Source can never make it true. Forgiving the dream of separation instead of trying to reinforce it is my practice for today. This is accomplished through my willingness to step back, choose peace and listen to the Light of true understanding. It is only through accepting peace and extending peace that I am truly helpful. This is my practice for today.

Let Truth Replace Illusions

Robert:
In our reading in the Workbook today, this stood out to me: “Father… I am surrounded by Your Love, forever still, forever gentle and forever safe.” (W-pII.272.1:7)

This is very comforting to me. It is helpful to remember this when things in the world seem to be disruptive. No matter what appearances the body’s eyes show me, I remain surrounded by God’s Love. The truth in me, the one true Self, cannot be disturbed because It is surrounded by God’s Love.

The part of me that experiences disturbance is a mistaken image of being separate, vulnerable and weak. This comforting sentence reminds me that this image is false. I can let it go with the help of the Voice for God in my mind.

Today I will remind myself often that I am surrounded by the quiet peace of God’s Love. This helps me hold my mind open to the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of all the images of the world. It is with this help that I will release the world from all I thought it was and remember my place in the Heart of God. And I give thanks.

Mary:
There is only one Reality and that is the Reality of Love’s universal oneness. Love extends Love and nothing else. Love’s extension (God’s Son) cannot change from what Love is. My opportunity for today is to let this truth return to my mind. I do this by being open to the truth and being willing to return again and again when I let the world’s distractions replace the truth. Today I ask the Holy Spirit to replace all my illusions with the truth and let my mind be healed today.

Receiving the Light of Truth

Robert:
I received a metaphorical image today that helps me understand what I need to do to awaken. It is a variation of the two pictures described in the A Course in Miracles Text.

I saw myself in a room that had two display screens. One was like a 14 inch television. It has an infinite number of channels that I can tune to to display all kinds of stories. Happy stories, sad stories, painful, dramatic, traumatic, attack and defend, isolated — the list goes on and on. I sit close to this screen and all the drama captivates my attention.

The other display dominates the room. This one I will call tele-experience. It offers me more than images. It offers me the experience of oneness and Light. If I give it my full attention, I am in joy beyond this world, deep peace that cannot be disturbed and joined in Love with all that is. It is an experience that is all encompassing. With my full attention, the display disappears and it becomes a total experience.

The part of me that focuses on the little television with all its channels of drama may look up occasionally and observe the other screen. But with eyes dedicated to seeing images, the other screen appears dull and boring because all it displays appears on the surface to be only light—no action or drama. The seeing that is dedicated to seeing images cannot take in what is offered by tele-experience.

But as I offer this all encompassing screen more of my attention, I let in more of the experience it offers. The dramatic images of the television have less appeal and are less distracting as I experience the limitless joy offered through tele-experience. The Source of the tele-experience channel is the one Self we all share. It is eternally broadcasting this experience to all because It knows that nothing is outside of It.

Today is another opportunity to direct my attention to what our true Self offers in every instant.

Mary:
What is the purpose for seeing a world of separate bodies? It is to hide the light of truth. Today I practice giving the world I see a new purpose — to see the world through the Light of truth.

Receiving the Light of truth is my main goal today. And what I ask for in my heart of hearts I will receive today. The Light is always there, but the question is, am I willing to receive It? There is only one true purpose for today, and that is to let the Light of truth shine through so that I am able to see Love’s oneness beyond the images of separate forms. This brings me happiness. This brings me peace. What a wonderful opportunity today brings with it as the day is dedicated to truth.

Make Way for Your Inner Comforter

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Time is only meaningful when it is used for the purpose of awakening from the dream of time. You do this when you hold your attention on peace, following My lead. Through the practice of vigilance for peace, you make way for Me to guide your thoughts and direct your actions in the way that loosens your attachment to the images of the world.

As you recognize the valuelessness of things in the world, you naturally let them go, with no sense of sacrifice or loss. In peace today, make way for Me to direct your doing and be your interpreter of all images in the world. This allows me to teach you where true value lies and lead you to the joy that is your natural state.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Let your mind be still… Let your mind relax and rest a while… Open to receive the peace of your Father… Listen to your inner Comforter… You will be told how to be truly helpful… You will be shown the difference between the real and the unreal… Let this inner Guidance guide you through your day.
