Welcome Love in Quietness

Mary:
In our reading this morning in A Course in Miracles, I found the following paragraph to be a particularly helpful antidote for the busyness and stress in the world that comes with the holiday season.

The miracle comes quietly into the mind that stops an instant and is still. It reaches gently from that time, and from the mind it healed in quiet then, to other minds to share its quietness. And they will join in doing nothing to prevent its radiant extension into the Mind Which caused all minds to be. Born out of sharing, there can be no pause in time to cause the miracle delay in hastening to all unquiet minds, and bringing them an instant stillness, when the memory of God returns to them. Their own remembering is quiet now, and what has come to take its place will not be wholly unremembered afterwards.

… The instant’s silence that His Son accepts gives welcome to eternity and Him, and lets Them enter where They would abide. For in that instant does the Son of God do nothing that would make himself afraid.” (T-28.I.11,12:5-6)

It is during this time of year that giving time to quietness is most helpful and needed. If I am to extend the miracle that comes with quietness, I must first accept if for myself. Because minds are joined, I am truly helpful when I am willing to focus on the truth instead of illusions of separation.

This is my purpose for today — to accept the miracle that comes with inviting the Holy Spirit’s quietness into my mind. Peace and a strong sense of well being and safety come with accepting Holy Spirit’s gift. What better gift can I extend to the world? Here is where I find joy and gratitude for Holy Spirit’s gift of remembering the truth in each present moment.

Robert:
Christ is a symbol of the Love that is the one Self we all share. This loving Self is constantly extending Love because that is Love’s nature. Since only Love is real, Love is extending Love to Itself. In Love, giving and receiving are the same. As we extend Love, we receive Love’s blessing. The joy of extending Love automatically inspires more extension. To celebrate Christ is to celebrate the eternal giving and receiving of Love.

The full acceptance of Love and Its eternal giving and receiving dissolves the ego because the ego is the denial of Love. The celebration of Christ, the celebration of eternal giving and receiving Love, terrifies the ego, for it recognizes this as its undoing. Recognizing this, the ego brings out its big defenses.

Being the idea of separation, the ego interprets Love in its own image. Thus the extension of Love becomes the giving of physical gifts, which are nothing more than empty images. It makes the giving of these empty images so important that many people put themselves into great stress trying to find and pay for the “right” image to “give.” This falls neatly into the ego’s plan to keep us seeking where nothing can be found and to reinforce guilt and fear so that we will not be still to receive the miracle of Love.

This is why it is especially important during this time to step back into quietness and welcome the Love of our true Self. When we do this, the Love we are will guide us in the perfect way to express Love in this world. This expression will inevitably bless both the giver and the receiver. It will not require any sacrifice or loss of the giver, and the receiver will experience the blessing of the unity of Love. This is how we celebrate Christ as Love would have us do.

Inception

Mary:
Last night we watched the movie, “Inception.” It reminded me quite vividly how everything I see through the body’s eyes is just a projection that I made up. It emphasized very strongly to me how important it is that I step back from thinking the dream projections are real. I see how important it is to open to the one real Self we all share and let the Light of truth replace the thoughts of separation I am still holding on to.

I am seeing that the more I accept the Holy Spirit’s gift of peace and the more relaxed I am, the easier it is to receive inspiration and insight from the real Mind Which is awake and does not believe in the dream of separate bodies. I am seeing that getting wrapped up in the projection of separation never helps. It gives new meaning to the words in A Course in Miracles: “In my defenselessness my safety lies” (W-pI.153) and “My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.” (W-pI.11)

The movie reinforced how important it is that I forgive the dream instead of reacting to it. The truth is that only God’s Love in everyone, including myself, is real. Today my practice is to consistently practice letting the veil be lifted to see the Love behind the projections of separate bodies. I need not defend against the truth. I can awaken to the fact that only Love is real. And I give thanks for the opportunity to practice returning to the truth.

Robert:
A core idea of the movie was that if a thought could be planted and accepted in the unconscious mind, it could change the entire belief system, which would be reflected in entirely different behavior of the body/personality. To me the Course is there to help us accept new thoughts from the Holy Spirit into our conscious mind. Since the Holy Spirit’s thought system is outside the thought system that projects separate images, it can bring healing thoughts into the unconscious mind upon which we can build a new way of seeing and living.

The Holy Spirit always brings us thoughts that lead to the release of belief in separation and the acceptance of the unity of our one Self in Love. Since these thoughts the Holy Spirit brings are aligned with our real will, they will be inevitability accepted. Even subconsciously we know that we want the Holy Spirit’s thought system because we know that His thoughts remind us of What we really Are. While the part of our subconscious mind occupied by the ego would defend against these ideas, our true Self welcomes them with gratitude. Since truth always shines away illusion, the truth in my mind will inevitably come forth and the ego will fade away into the nothingness from which it came.

My prayer today is to be open to the Holy Spirit’s inspiration to see as Love sees and to live in Love.

Let Yourself Be Carried Today

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Give time to God today… Put all time in God’s Hands… God’s plan of awakening is not the ego’s plan. Today practice letting go and letting God heal your mind…

Let yourself soak in God’s Love today… Let yourself receive and extend God’s peace… This is what celebrating Christmas is really all about. Relax and let the Light of Love fill your heart and mind… This is your purpose for today and every day.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Imagine you are being carried in a hammock lined with a down comforter…. It is so soft that you are hardly aware of the presence of the hammock. You are being carried by angels whose steps are so light that you are not aware of their steps at all. You seem to be gliding effortlessly…. The hammock holds you securely like a cocoon and you feel completely safe…. As you glide along you feel yourself relaxing more and more into that soft, comforting safety….

You look around you as you glide along and you recognize faint images from the past. They represent what you have let go. As you move along, the images become more distinct. You realize these represent what you are letting go but still have some lingering wish to hang on to. But the angels continue to carry you and as you move on, those images fade into the distance. You realize that the angels are helping you accelerate your letting go. You feel yourself relaxing more deeply as these images pass by and fade in the distance….

You realize that there are more than just two angels carrying you. They are all around you and beneath you, supporting and guiding you. You feel the safety of their changeless Love…. You see the way becoming lighter and lighter…. You gently settle into deeper and deeper peace as you feel the mighty Companions Who are gently carrying you Home….

Whether you are aware of it consciously or not, this is your journey now. This Help is with you always. You will let all images go because it is your will to do so. Let yourself be carried today by letting yourself settle into peace.

Accept and Extend God’s Gifts

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Remember you are the extension of God’s Love. Everyone you look upon who seems to be separate from you is contained within God’s one extension of Love. The appearance of separate bodies disguises the unity of the Sonship. Look past appearances today and see the Love that unites you in Its oneness. Love makes no distinctions. Love is complete and so it makes no demands and knows not of lack. Love cannot be contained because Its nature is to extend eternally. This is What you are, have been and always will be.

Invite your brothers to join you in this Love by forgiving them your illusions…. Let go of all your past beliefs of what you thought you were and let Me show you What you are by showing you What your brothers are…. See the Light in them and recognize It in yourself…. Feel the joy in them and experience it in yourself…. Rest in their peace, for it is yours…. Practice this today and you will be carried Home to the certainty and peace of your Creator.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
You demonstrate the true meaning of Christmas when you accept God’s gifts. God shares all of Himself with His one Son. Accept the truth today and let the veil of separation be lifted. You, along with every brother, are still God’s perfect Son, perfect in every way, reflecting His Love to All That is.

Peace and joy are yours today as you accept and extend God’s gifts. It is worth the vigilance. This is the true meaning of “Peace on earth, good will toward all men.” Accept and extend the true meaning of Christmas today and you will experience that God’s happiness and peace are yours to receive and give.

Peace In the Eternal Now

Robert:
I want to see my brother as he Is — as Love and nothing else. I want to see myself as I am. These two statements are the same, for there is only one Self. A Course in Miracles tells me that the body’s eyes can only show me separation. So to see my brother and myself as the one Self we share requires another way of seeing — the Holy Spirit’s vision.

The body’s eyes will always see signs of vulnerability, lack and loss. To know the peace of God I must accept the Holy Spirit’s vision in my mind as all I want. The world still holds some attraction to me, for I still spend much of my day with opinions about what situations and events mean. But the means to be free from that is in my mind. I need only prefer the Holy Spirit’s vision in place of what the body’s eyes show me.

My practice today is to pay attention to Holy Spirit’s vision. It is the path to peace.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
The whole way out of dreaming dreams of separation is to let go of the past and let go of the future, and remember the Eternal Now is the only “time” there is. Today focus on the Eternal Now. Allow in the idea that you are eternal Spirit That is still as Love created you. And every brother is there with you in the Eternal Now as the perfect Son of God, unchanged and wholly innocent.

Today let yourself soak in the idea that you are eternal Spirit, safe in Love of God. You rest in God, along with every brother. Dreams are not fearful when they are seen through Christ’s vision. So today, let go of the past and future, and let the eternal presence of Love be your only Guide.

All I Really Want Is the Peace of God

Robert:
All I really want is the peace of God. I want to remember that I am at Home in Love. When I am identified with the ego thought system, I still look for Love and peace. But the ego directs me to look where it can’t be found. All my judgments and opinions are simply statements about where I think I can find peace and happiness. I will be at peace if this situation looks the way I want it. I will feel loved if that person behaves the way I want them to. The list goes on and on, for the ego can make up myriad forms to substitute for the one, united Love of God.

But all I really want is the peace of God. God has already given me everything that He is. To recognize this I must accept it. To accept it I must let go of the ego made substitutes that simply delay and divert my awareness of the ever present peace that is in me. Forgiveness is the way that I let go of those false substitutes and welcome God’s gift.

And so today is another day for the moment-by-moment practice of laying all my ideas about how anything should be or look in the hands of the Holy Spirit. with willingness to receive His vision. I give thanks for the voice for God in my mind always ready to show me the way to experience the peace of God.

Mary:
Today my practice is to keep my mind open to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. I see a picture of an open door with Light streaming through. This Light brings peace to my mind and I remember that everything is all right. We are all safe in God’s one Mind of Love. Remembering this consistently is what today is for. And I give thanks.

Choosing Through the Holy Spirit

Robert:
In our reading in A Course in Miracles today, this stood out to me: “Choosing through the Holy Spirit will lead you to the Kingdom.” (T-6.V.5:1)

This is why the practice of stepping back and following Holy Spirit’s lead is essential to awakening. When I attempt to choose on my own, I have faulty, limited information to work with. Believing I am on my own keeps me from the awareness of the truth of the Kingdom. It limits me to what I am able to remember from the past and perceive through the body.

But when I choose through the Holy Spirit, I choose to accept His limitless vision. Every choice I make through the Holy Spirit teaches me of the limitless of Love and the peace of God, because that is the only lesson the Holy Spirit teaches. So every choice is a choice between limitation and limitlessness. When I am vigilant to choose through the Holy Spirit, I am vigilant for completion. I am vigilant for the Kingdom of Love.

Today is an opportunity to practice the happy choice of following Holy Spirit’s lead.

Mary:
Today it is my opportunity to relax and practice letting go of all I think I know. It is my opportunity to open my mind to Holy Spirit’s peace and quietness. In truth I, along with everyone, rest in God’s Mind right now. In God’s oneness we all abide for eternity. Letting myself remember this truth is my practice for today. And I give thanks.
