Preparing for a Happy Day

A healed mind does not plan. It carries out the plans that it receives through listening to wisdom that is not its own. It waits until it has been taught what should be done, and then proceeds to do it. It does not depend upon itself for anything except its adequacy to fulfill the plans assigned to it. It is secure in certainty that obstacles can not impede its progress to accomplishment of any goal that serves the greater plan established for the good of everyone.

Try not to shape this day as you believe would benefit you most. For you can not conceive of all the happiness that comes to you without your planning. …this is a special day for learning, and acknowledge it with this:

This is my Eastertime. And I would keep it holy.
I will not defend myself, because the Son of God

God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. This being the case, it makes sense that it is in our best interest to follow His plan and not interfere with it with plans of our own. It seems tempting to believe that our experience from the past has taught us what we need to know to prepare for the future. Much effort in the world is put into trying to learn from the past.

There can be benefit from these lessons learned, but only if they are interpreted by the Holy Spirit. His vision sees beyond the little scope taken in through the body’s senses within the limits of time. If we want to be happy, we need to be willing to let the Holy Spirit direct us throughout the day, every day. We need to make no decisions on our own.

The practice of daily starting with a dedication to following Holy Spirit’s lead sets the intent for a happy day. As we go through our day, we may be tempted to take detours which lead us out of peace. As soon as we notice we are out of peace, we need to remind ourselves of our dedication at the start of the day. Then step back from the detour and once again welcome Holy Spirit’s direction, which will return us to the path toward happiness. Today is a beautiful day for practice.

Accepting the Vision of Our True Self

Each unforgiving mind presents you with an opportunity to teach your own how to forgive itself. Each one awaits release from hell through you, and turns to you imploringly for Heaven here and now. It has no hope, but you become its hope. And as its hope, do you become your own. The unforgiving mind must learn through your forgiveness that it has been saved from hell. And as you teach salvation, you will learn. Yet all your teaching and your learning will be not of you, but of the Teacher Who was given you to show the way to you. Every moment of every day is an opportunity to heal and be healed. We heal as we choose the vision of our true Self to see past form to the truth that only Love is real. When we perceive someone as angry or sad or hurt, we have the option to let our true Self show us the changeless Love that lies beyond the images that appear before us or in our minds. As we accept this vision, we offer healing to our brother as we heal our own minds.

As we practice this, we let go of the dream of being separate and alone. The memory of our safety and our innocence returns to our awareness. We offer peace instead of engaging in the appearance of conflict. Today we would heal and be healed through the practice of choosing the inner vision of our true Self as we go through our day.

Walking Lightly into the Light

Open your eyes today and look upon a happy world of safety and of peace. Forgiveness is the means by which it comes to take the place of hell.

And now the way is short that yet we travel. We are close indeed to the appointed ending of the dream.

Sink into happiness as you begin these practice periods, for they hold out the sure rewards of questions answered and what your acceptance of the answer brings. Today it will be given you to feel the peace forgiveness offers, and the joy the lifting of the veil holds out to you.

Before the light you will receive today the world will fade until it disappears, and you will see another world arise you have no words to picture. Now we walk directly into light, and we receive the gifts that have been held in store for us since time began, kept waiting for today. Judgment blinds us to the Light of Love. Forgiveness takes off the blinders. Perception of lack of love is of our own making. God gave us all His Love and has not withdrawn His gift.

Love’s peace and joy are already ours. We make way to experience them through forgiveness. As we lay our judgments down and let the truth behind the made up images be revealed, we see the exquisite beauty of the Light that is our brother and we recognize the Light as our own as well. As we acknowledge the Light in our brothers and ourselves, conflict and uncertainty fade away. Everything we look upon reminds us of the changeless Love that is everywhere. And we walk lightly into the Light.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Faith, Belief and Vision

Faith and belief and vision are the means by which the goal of holiness is reached. Through them the Holy Spirit leads you to the real world, and away from all illusions where your faith was laid. This is His direction; the only one He ever sees. And when you wander, He reminds you there is but one [direction]. His faith and His belief and vision are all for you. And when you have accepted them completely instead of yours, you will have need of them no longer. For faith and vision and belief are meaningful only before the state of certainty is reached. In Heaven they are unknown. Yet Heaven is reached through them. (A Course in Miracles, T-21.III.4. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

We see a world of bodies, of separation, because we believe in it and have given it our faith. The faith we have invested in this world makes it seem real. Yet the opposite of the oneness of Love could never be real.

The Holy Spirit’s function is to help us redirect our faith and belief from images of separation to the vision of holiness, wholeness. As we are willing to receive it, the Holy Spirit’s vision will show us our true relationship with our brother in the oneness of Love. It is this vision of our holy relationship that brings us peace. There is no conflict in the holy relationship that comes with the recognition of Love’s oneness.

As we withdraw our faith and belief in separation and direct it to seeing the oneness of Love’s creation, the dream world of separate images fades away. This is what forgiveness does. It releases our insistence on seeing our brother as a body so that we see past it to the one Love that joins us all.

Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s vision and give it our faith and belief.

We Live in the Peace of God

God is with me. He is my Source of life, the life within, the air I breathe, the food by which I am sustained, the water which renews and cleanses me. He is my home, wherein I live and move; the Spirit which directs my actions, offers me Its Thoughts, and guarantees my safety from all pain. He covers me with kindness and with care, and holds in love the Son He shines upon, who also shines on Him. How still is he who knows the truth of what He speaks today! We can relax now. We are wholly supported by God’s Love, Which surrounds us and fills us and completes us. We have no needs because God has given us all His Love. We are perfectly safe because nothing exists in opposition to God’s Love. We are innocent because we are part of the Love of God, which cannot sin.

As we remember this, we see its truth in every brother. We welcome them into the Love we are, for Love always shares Itself. We remember we are one in Love and we experience the peace that is Love’s natural state.

Seeing Past Dreams to the Truth

Join not your brother’s dream, but join with him, and where you join His Son the Father is. Who seeks for substitutes when he perceives has lost nothing? Who would want to have the “benefits” of sickness when he has received the simple happiness of health? What God has given cannot be a loss, and what is not of Him has no effects. What, then, would you perceive within the gap? The seeds of sickness come from the belief that there is joy in separation, and its giving up would be a sacrifice. But miracles are the result when you do not insist on seeing in the gap what is not there. Your willingness to let illusions go is all the Healer of God’s Son requires. He will place the miracle of healing where the seeds of sickness were. And there will be no loss, but only gain. (A Course in Miracles, T-28.IV.10. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

God gave every part of the Sonship all of Himself. Like a hologram, every part contains the whole. As we see past dreams to the truth, we see that only God or Love could be there.

God’s Love is indivisible. We are learning that we are God’s Love and so is every brother. As we consistently return to the truth of Love’s oneness, we heal every brother and ourselves. As we let illusions of separation go, peace and love and joy come with it. Inherent in the eternal truth that only God’s Love is real lies our peace and joy and happiness. We hold to that and nothing else.

Walking the Way of Love

You do not know the way back to your Father and your Self. You have wandered alone and friendless through an alien land, seeking what you cannot find. It is not here. Yet there is a Friend Who walks with you and will never leave you comfortless. Take His hand and let Him lead you down the way of peace, which leads back to where you are at Home. Heaven is a state of Unity, of Oneness with God and all He has created. So far beyond the world of separation even the imagination cannot conceive of It, Heaven is always close at hand. Not within the dream, yet is It reflected here if you would have it so. The Holy Spirit will show you the real world, the forgiven world, wherein the Light of Heaven is reflected, if you will accept His vision in place of your own. (From the Christ Mind Book II, p. 205)

Everyone who walks this world experiences a sense of being incomplete. This is because the world is the denial of the Source of completion. There is a gnawing feeling of dissatisfaction, which is just another word for depression. We were created as Love with the purpose of extending Love. But because the world is the denial of Love, Love’s extension is impossible and dissatisfaction is inevitable.

By the grace of God, there is a way out of this seemingly hopeless scenario. We have a Friend Who remembers for us that we still remain Love and we are still connected to the Source of Love. This Friend is ever ready to guide us back out of the quagmire of false images that portray a loveless world. We can choose this dear Friend as our Guide in every moment. As we do this, we are shown that behind the false images, Love is there. It was never lost. It remains What we are. Its radiance shines through the shadows of belief that seem to say Love is lost.

Today we choose to take our dear Friend’s Hand to let Him guide us Home. We will walk with Him in the way of Love and gratitude. Our hearts will fill with joy as we remember Who we are.
