How to Have a Happy Day

Robert:
In our reading in A Course Miracles today, this is what stood out to me in Workbook Lesson 294: “Let me, then, use this dream to help Your plan that we awaken from all dreams we made.” (W-pII.294.2:3)

This sums up what everything I experience in the world is for. Everything in the world is meaningful only to the extent that it serves the awakening of God’s Son from the dream of separation. No matter what detours we may follow, this prayer is in the heart of everyone, because we all want to be happy. True happiness is found only in awakening to the oneness of Love.

Today I dedicate to using every interaction, every situation, every experience to serve God’s plan of awakening. This is how I will have a happy day.

Mary:
The way I serve God’s plan is to accept God’s peace all through the day. On my own, I do not know what anything is for. I need to be as a little child and be open to Holy Spirit’s guidance all through the day. This takes vigilance. Asking myself frequently, “What do I want to come from this?” and making the choice to follow and not lead, helps me be open to God’s plan. Following only God’s plan is all I want today.

Resurrection

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Rest in Me… Let yourself relax into the certainty of My changeless Love… I am What you are… Let the thoughts of the world pass by… Let Me show you the brilliance of your Being… Let Me show you that everyone is included in this brilliance… No one is left out… This is the vision of your Self… This Self does not judge but only joins with the Love that is the truth in all…

The body’s eyes will still show you images of the world, but the vision of your Self looks past them to the Light of Christ… This is your resurrection… This is the resurrection of the world… This vision is how you bless the world and the world blesses you…

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Let this day be a day to celebrate the truth about you and everyone in this world of separation. Celebrating the resurrection of God’s one Son is the true meaning of Easter. Let Me bring you past time to the truth that God’s one Son has been resurrected from the dead.

In truth, time is over and only eternity is true now. Let Me bring you to the truth that you are safe in God’s eternal Mind, right now. To allow this remembering, be as a little child and let yourself be brought to the awareness of your wholeness in God. This is how to celebrate Easter.

Everyone Belongs to God

Mary:
We all have one Source. This one Source is God. And because nothing can leave its Source, we remain one with our Source. We still belong to God. Love’s inherent oneness is still our Home. It is still Where we reside in truth.

I find it very helpful to think that everyone comes from God and still belongs to God. It helps me see past the illusions of separation and see that everyone is still united with their Father, whether it is recognized or not. This remembering brings a sense of reverence and helps me give everyone their full due because they still are one with God, our Father.

As I practice seeing everyone as still one with our Source, it helps me and every brother along with me. This is what brings me happiness. The Course reminds me that God gives only happiness. So, if I want to be happy today, I will open my mind to allow in the remembrance of the truth that everyone belongs to God. And for this I give thanks.

Robert:
This is my prayer today:
Father I have made substitutes for Your gifts to me. I recognize now that these substitutes are empty and bring no comfort, but rather a sense of loss because they make me unaware of Your gifts. I am willing to set these substitutes aside today. Help me see past them to the truth of your Love for me and all my brothers. In that vision I will recognize the Self I share with all in You. In this recognition I will know the comfort of Your peace, the joy of Your Love. Thank You.

It Is Helpful to Remember…

Holy Spirit to Mary:
It is helpful to remember that your Reality is in Heaven now and the Truth of everyone you see in this world of separation is There with you. It is helpful to remember that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son, Love’s eternal extension of Love. It is helpful to remember that Love sees only Love; Light is aware of only Light. The choice to see separation is nothing and nowhere.

Let yourself be shown the truth today—that you are Love and are immersed in the Mind of Love for eternity. All that is left is to give thanks that only the truth of God’s Love is forever true.

Robert:
If my peace is disturbed in any way, it can only be that I believe that some aspect of my concept of my self is threatened. With that comes the perceived need to defend. My true Self knows that it is safe within the one Mind of God. There is nothing else and so threat is impossible. Thus any perceived disturbance is a signpost to remind me to turn my attention to the Holy Spirit, the Self I share with everyone.

Defensiveness blocks my awareness of this Self. But when I turn to this Self and am willing to accept It as my Identity, I share Its vision. This Self sees only the Love that It is. This Self thus knows there is nothing to defend and is always at peace. This is why “In my defenselessness my safety lies.” Today is another day to practice recognizing the signposts that direct me to return my attention to my true Self.

Inspiration Flows from the Center of Peace

Mary:
We all have within our minds a place where peace abides. In this place of inner peace we find simple, uncomplicated Love. When the world seems complicated and hectic and frustrating, it is time to return to this inner place of peace for mind healing.

I find that this is done by simply relaxing and letting every thought that does not come from peace to simply pass by. I don’t need to grab hold of these thoughts and carry them with me. I can let them go. I remember that I only want the peace of God and that what I want in my heart of hearts I receive.

This practice of letting everything go to be replaced by peace is very important to my awakening to the truth. The truth lies beyond all illusions. And I have to let the illusions go, because I can’t have both illusions and truth at the same time. Today I have another opportunity to allow the Holy Spirit to bring me to the sacred place of peace within. This is my practice for today. Here I am inspired in how to be truly helpful.

Robert:
The ego is wholly committed to separation. Its sole purpose for the body and its senses is to bring messages that confirm separation is real. So when something seems to go “wrong” in the world, it is just a pictorial representation of the ego’s commitment to separation. In every moment I have the choice for how I will interpret the appearances in the world. If I align with the ego, the interpretation will affirm the reality of separation. If I align with my true Self, the interpretation will come through looking past the appearances to the truth of changeless Love. Those are the only two options.

Right now there is a strong temptation to buy into the ego’s interpretation because, in working with upgrading the web site, it is now at a point where much of it is unavailable to the public. If I use this situation to stress myself to try to fix it in a hurry, I simply reinforce the sense of being alone, separate and weak. The ego smiles at this, happy that its core belief in separation is affirmed.

But I am grateful that I have a Helper That sees the situation as an opportunity to remind me that I am not a body. I am free. I am still the oneness of Love, as Love created me. I am still centered in peace. From that center of peace inspiration can use the circumstance to heal my mind and, through that healing, bless the world. I am willing to accept this healing today.

Letting Go of False Images

Robert:
Do I really want peace? When I look honestly at how I view the world during my day, I see that my answer to this question is not unequivocal. Whenever my peace is disturbed, I have chosen against peace. I have chosen to believe that an image of separation is real. I would only make this choice if I believed there was some value in separation. The perceived value is that separation offers me a special identity I can call my own. Any “threat” to this identity must be defended against and thus peace is thrown away.

Fortunately, with the help of A Course in Miracles, I am seeing more clearly that the image of a special identity is empty and has no value. The gift of peace is where real value lies. The Course is helping me recognize that the ego’s empty substitutes offer me nothing of value. I don’t really want them. I want the peace of God. That peace is already given.

My job is to be vigilant for peace and to offer any disturbance to the Holy Spirit for Him to shine His loving Light on it so that I may see that there was no substance to what I thought upset me. And I can make way for peace to return to my awareness. This is my practice today.

Mary:
This morning as I go into a place of quiet, I am reminded once again that everyone, because of What they are, has been given all of God. This means that everyone has all of God’s peace, all of God’s Love, for God gives all of Himself to all. This reflects God’s Will of oneness.

Today my practice is to bring this remembering to every part of my day. God’s oneness is all I want to remember. I see that it is meaningless to replace God’s oneness with images of separation. Letting these false images go is my function now. I no longer need to put up barriers to God’s oneness. This is what brings me happiness. This is what brings me peace. And I give thanks.

Allowing Time for Quietness

Robert:
To be truly helpful, I need to let only Love be my Guide. Love always shows me the innocence and Love that is everywhere. It answers every call for Love with Love. Love does not judge. Love always joins with Love and sees past all appearances in form. Peace and joy are attributes of Love. So when I let Love guide me, I experience joy and peace.

Forgiveness is Love’s reflection in this world. Forgiveness is release from condemnation and makes way for Love to enter. Without judgment, innocence is recognized. If I want to return to the full awareness of Love, I have one function — to forgive all judgments.

Today my practice is to offer all my opinions, all my judgments, to the Holy Spirit in exchange for His singular judgment that only innocence is real. This is how I make way for the awareness of Love’s presence.

Mary:
What is today for? I receive the insight from Holy Spirit that today is for mind healing. Today is for the practice of opening my mind to truth.

In order to do this I must provide a space for quietness—to allow my mind to be open to the Holy Spirit’s change of mind. Only in quietness is the veil of separation lifted. Only in quietness is the insanity of the ego’s thoughts of separation purified. I am always choosing one or the other—the ego’s thought system or the Holy Spirit’s bridge to truth. Allowing time for quietness lets the truth to shine through. This is my practice for today.
