Love Is the Only Power

It is God’s strength in you that is the light in which you see, as it is His Mind with which you think. His strength denies your weakness. It is your weakness that sees through the body’s eyes, peering about in darkness to behold the likeness of itself…

Strength overlooks these things by seeing past appearances.

Truth is a savior and can only will for happiness and peace for everyone. It gives its strength to everyone who asks, in limitless supply. It sees that lack in anyone would be a lack in all. And so it gives its light that all may see and benefit as one. Its strength is shared, that it may bring to all the miracle in which they will unite in purpose and forgiveness and in love.

Weakness, which looks in darkness, cannot see a purpose in forgiveness and in love. It sees all others different from itself, and nothing in the world that it would share.

The light of strength is constant, sure as love, forever glad to give itself away, because it cannot give but to itself.

…for the peace of God is where your Self, His Son, is waiting now to meet Itself again, and be as one. (W-pI.92.3:1-3;4:1;5:3-6:2;8:1;9:3)

It is impossible to feel completely safe in this world. Even if we build a bunker safe from an atomic bomb, it is simply a monument proclaiming our weakness. Yet this perception of weakness and vulnerability is nothing more than a dream. It has no effect whatsoever on our true Self, the Son of God.

The changelessness of the Love we are protects us from all harm. The eyes of Love see only Itself, united in Its Light which nothing can oppose. This Love is our rock, the foundation of our eternal certainty that we remain as Love created us.

Today we choose the Holy Spirit to help us see past appearances with the eyes of Love. With this vision, we see only Love or calls for Love. From the innate Love we are, we answer calls for Love with Love.

Welcoming God’s Joy as Our Own

God, being Love, is also happiness.

Happiness is an attribute of love. It cannot be apart from it. Nor can it be experienced where love is not. Love has no limits, being everywhere. And therefore joy is everywhere as well. Yet can the mind deny that this is so, believing there are gaps in love where sin can enter, bringing pain instead of joy. This strange belief would limit happiness by redefining love as limited, and introducing opposition in what has no limit and no opposite.

Allow this one correction to be placed within your mind each waking hour today. Then welcome all the happiness it brings as truth replaces fear, and joy becomes what you expect to take the place of pain. God, being Love, it will be given you. Bolster this expectation frequently throughout the day, and quiet all your fears with this assurance, kind and wholly true:

God, being Love, is also happiness.
And it is happiness I seek today.

Happiness is an inside job. We experience it as we identify with our true Self, Who is eternally united with God and shares His joy. The only reason we do not experience God’s joy is because we have chosen to believe in a false identity that denies our unity in Love. The Love and joy of our true Self remains untouched by this denial. It is only hidden from our awareness until we accept It as What we are.

Forgiveness is the way to let go of the denial and accept God’s gift of Love. Every moment of every day we are presented with a choice between believing in the denial, which could never be true, or accepting the reality of Love. Today we break from our past habits and choose once again to accept our true Identity as Love. By this choice we welcome God’s joy as our own.

Letting Go of Denying Love

Be you not separate, for the One Who does surround [the world] has brought union to you, returning your little offering of darkness to the eternal light.

The body will remain guilt’s messenger, and will act as it directs as long as you believe that guilt is real. For the reality of guilt is the illusion that seems to make it heavy and opaque, impenetrable, and a real foundation for the ego’s thought system. Its thinness and transparency are not apparent until you see the light behind it. And then you see it as a fragile veil before the light.

This world of light, this circle of brightness is the real world, where guilt meets with forgiveness. Here the world outside is seen anew, without the shadow of guilt upon it. Here are you forgiven, for here you have forgiven everyone. Here is the new perception, where everything is bright and shining with innocence, washed in the waters of forgiveness, and cleansed of every evil thought you laid upon it. Here there is no attack upon the Son of God, and you are welcome. Here is your innocence, waiting to clothe you and protect you, and make you ready for the final step in the journey inward. Here are the dark and heavy garments of guilt laid by, and gently replaced by purity and love. (A Course in Miracles, T-18.IX.2:1;5;9. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

An evil thought is nothing more than the denial of Love’s reality. This denial makes lovelessness and guilt seem real. This “reality” is held in place by judgment, based upon the conviction that separation is real. Judgment would be impossible without this belief in what could never be true. It seems to be our job to carefully evaluate what is good and what is evil. Yet nothing “evil” exists because only Love is real.

Forgiveness lets go of the denial of Love. It lets in Love’s Light to shine away the shadows of guilt. Each time we let the Holy Spirit help us forgive an unloving thought, our world becomes brighter. We see the Love we are reflected back to us as the veil of guilt is lifted.

Today we resolve to let the Holy Spirit show us the reality of Love beyond the images the body sees. With His help Love will guide our way and we will experience Its blessing as we share It with the world.

Being Willing to Be Truly Helpful

God in His mercy wills that I be saved.

I need but look upon all things that seem to hurt me, and with perfect certainty assure myself, “God wills that I be saved from this,” and merely watch them disappear. I need but keep in mind my Father’s Will for me is only happiness, to find that only happiness has come to me. And I need but remember that God’s Love surrounds His Son and keeps his sinlessness forever per­fect, to be sure that I am saved and safe forever in His Arms. I am the Son He loves. And I am saved because God in His mercy wills it so.

Father, Your Holiness is mine. Your Love created me, and made my sinlessness forever part of You. I have no guilt nor sin in me, for there is none in You. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 235, W-pII.235. See also ACIM Lesson 235 Insights.)

If we experience sadness, loneliness, irritation, frustration, impatience, resentment, fear or anger, it is a sure sign that we are denying God’s Will for us. His Will is that we share His perfect happiness. When we recognize these emotions, we need to remind ourselves, “God wills that I be saved from this.” His happiness is already ours. Denial only makes us unaware of His happiness.

We dedicate today to be mindful of our emotions. When we notice anything less than happiness, we remind ourselves that this is not His Will for us.

We were created by Love and eternally worthy of It. Love does not come and go. It shares the changelessness of God. We welcome Christ’s vision of Love’s innocence which shows us the reality of Love we are, along with every brother. Our hearts are filled with gratitude, kindness and willingness to be truly helpful as expressions of the Love we are.

Letting Our Mind Rest in God

Forgiveness ends all suffering and loss.

Forgiveness paints a picture of a world where suffering is over, loss becomes impossible and anger makes no sense. Attack is gone, and madness has an end. What suffering is now conceiv­able? What loss can be sustained? The world becomes a place of joy, abundance, charity and endless giving. It is now so like to Heaven that it quickly is transformed into the light that it reflects. And so the journey which the Son of God began has ended in the light from which he came.

Father, we would return our minds to You. We have betrayed them, held them in a vise of bitterness, and frightened them with thoughts of violence and death. Now would we rest again in You, as You created us. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 249, W-pII.249. See also ACIM Lesson 249 Insights.)

The ego paints a picture of a world filled with suffering, violence and death. While we accept the ego as our identity, this is the picture we see. It seems very real to us. Fear and conflict are our constant companions. Yet this world we see is only a dream made by the ego thought system of separation to hide from the eternal oneness of God’s Love.

Forgiveness is the way to awaken from this frightening and loveless world. Throughout every day we are presented with opportunities to forgive and let the false images disappear. Each moment in which we feel anything but peace indicates that somewhere in our mind we are denying Love’s presence. We release this denial by asking the Holy Spirit to heal our fear-based thoughts.

We do not have to dig deeply to try to find a specific event or past experience to label as the “cause” of the disturbance to our peace. But we do have to recognize the disturbance and offer it to the Holy Spirit for His healing. He will respond with vision that shows us the truth of Love’s presence beyond the dream images. He will help us join with the Love beyond the dark forms and welcome Love’s Light into the world.

Each time we accept the Holy Spirit’s healing, the world is brightened a little more with Love’s Light. The more we practice, the more we experience the presence of peace, happiness and changeless Love.

Our True Self Gives Love Without Limit

It is not you who are so vulnerable and open to attack that just a word, a little whisper that you do not like, a circumstance that suits you not, or an event that you did not anticipate upsets your world, and hurls it into chaos. Truth is not frail. Illusions leave it perfectly unmoved and undisturbed. But specialness is not the truth in you. It [specialness] can be thrown off balance by anything. What rests on nothing never can be stable. However large and overblown it seems to be, it still must rock and turn and whirl about with every breeze.

[Specialness] will forevermore be unforgiving, for that is what it is; a secret vow that what God wants for you will never be, and that you will oppose His Will forever.

God asks for your forgiveness. He would have no separation, like an alien will, rise between what He wills for you and what you will. They are the same, for neither One wills specialness.

Forgive the great Creator of the universe, the Source of life, of love and holiness, the perfect Father of a perfect Son, for your illusions of your specialness. …Forgive the Holy One the specialness He could not give, and that you made instead.

The special ones are all asleep, surrounded by a world of loveliness they do not see. Freedom and peace and joy stand there, …call them to come forth and waken from their dream of death. Yet they hear nothing. They are lost in dreams of specialness. …Open your eyes a little; see the savior God gave to you that you might look on him, and give him back his birthright. It is yours. If we deny the Love that is the truth in our brother, we have first denied it in ourselves. We have denied our birthright, for God wills that we have all of His Love. The ego denies that Love is the truth in all God’s Creation, given equally to all. Equality is the antithesis of the ego. That is why it must people the world with images of differences and inequality. It cannot see a brother as an equal, for the complete recognition of equality would dispel the ego entirely.

Because God’s Love is given equally to all, we must accept equality to accept God’s gift of Love. When we forgive God for not giving us the specialness we asked for, we open the veil to receive the Love He wills we have. His Will is our Will.

Our true Self wants only to be and give Love without limit, as God has given It to His Son. We want to awaken from the dream of lovelessness and return to the Heaven of God’s Love.

Serving the Love We Are

True light that makes true vision possible is not the light the body’s eyes behold. It is a state of mind that has become so unified that darkness cannot be perceived at all. And thus what is the same is seen as one, while what is not the same remains un­noticed, for it is not there.

This is the light that shows no opposites, and vision, being healed, has power to heal. This is the light that brings your peace of mind to other minds, to share it and be glad that they are one with you and with themselves. This is the light that heals because it brings single perception, based upon one frame of ref­erence, from which one meaning comes.

Here are both giving and receiving seen as different aspects of one Thought whose truth does not depend on which is seen as first, nor which appears to be in second place. Here it is under­stood that both occur together, that the Thought remain complete. And in this understanding is the base on which all opposites are reconciled, because they are perceived from the same frame of reference which unifies this Thought. Our true Self already rests in God. It has always rested in Him and always will, for It was created one with Him. The experience of pain and suffering come from swearing allegiance to the false image made by the ego.

The affirmation “I rest in God” is a way to change our allegiance. It declares our willingness to accept the Reality of Love as our Identity. As we acknowledge our true Identity, we become instruments of God’s Voice to bring the message of Love’s oneness to the world. No longer do we serve the ego’s goal of separation with judgments and guilt.

Now we serve the Love we are by seeing Love beyond the world’s appearances. We recognize expressions of fear and hate as calls for Love. The Love of our true Self resting in God answers these calls for Love. This practice brings healing to our mind and to the world. We rest in the safety and innocence of Love.
