Let’s Light the World with Love

Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict here.

Conflict must be resolved. It cannot be evaded, set aside, denied, disguised, seen somewhere else, called by another name, or hidden by deceit of any kind, if it would be escaped. It must be seen exactly as it is, where it is thought to be, in the reality which has been given it, and with the purpose that the mind accorded it. For only then are its defenses lifted, and the truth can shine upon it as it disappears.

Father, forgiveness is the light You chose to shine away all conflict and all doubt, and light the way for our return to You. No light but this can end our evil dream. No light but this can save the world. For this alone will never fail in anything, being Your gift to Your beloved Son. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 333, W-pII.333. The perception of conflict comes from our own mind. It comes with accepting a self-identity that is separate from the world. From this separation conflict seems real. To be free of conflict and experience the joy and peace of God, we need to let go of this false identity which we attach to the body. We are not a body. We are not an identity separate from God. Our attachment to a false identity darkens our world, for it hides the Light of Love from our awareness. Separation cannot exist in Love, where conflict is impossible because there are no differences.

God has given us His Voice to guide us out of this dream of a separate self. Our only meaningful use of time is to be mindful of our perceptions of conflict and be willing to let them go. As we take these dark thoughts to the Holy Spirit to let Him shine His Light on them, we learn they are based on illusion. The Light of Love dispels them.

We see clearly with Holy Spirit’s vision that there is no conflict in truth. We rest in peace with the certainty that God’s changeless Love is ours. Having accepted this Love as ours, we freely extend it to our brothers, for that is Love’s nature.

Let’s join together in mindfulness of our thoughts of conflict with dedication to let the Holy Spirit’s Light of Love dispel them. Together we can light the world with Love.

Choosing the Holy Spirit’s Lessons in Love

Heaven is the decision I must make.

You need to be reminded that you think a thousand choices are confronting you, when there is really only one to make. And even this but seems to be a choice. Do not confuse yourself with all the doubts that myriad decisions would induce. You make but one. And when that one is made, you will perceive it was no choice at all. For truth is true, and nothing else is true. There is no opposite to choose instead. There is no contradiction to the truth.

Choosing depends on learning. …Decisions are the outcome of your learning, for they rest on what you have accepted as the truth of what you are, and what your needs must be.

We make the choice for Heaven as we wake, and spend five minutes making sure that we have made the one decision that is sane. We recognize we make a conscious choice between what has existence and what has nothing but an appearance of the truth.

The ego is the mastermind of complications. It does not want us to find the one thing we really want — the Love we are. It covers this Love with a thick veil of images which lead us to believe there are many choices to be made to reach our goal. The problem is the ego’s goal is to avoid Love, not find It. It is terrified of Love because if we were to find It, Love’s oneness would dismiss the ego for the nothingness it is. The ego would simply cease to seem to be.

We make the choice for Heaven by choosing the Holy Spirit as our Teacher instead of the ego. His goal is to teach us What we are. His lessons always teach that no form is real, no differences exist in truth. Only the oneness of Love is real. The emptiness we have felt in the world reflects our heart’s yearning to awaken to our true Self, forever at home in Heaven.

Willingness to Accept Our True Self

Be in my mind, my Father, through the day.

Be in my mind, my Father, when I wake, and shine on me throughout the day today. Let every minute be a time in which I dwell with You. And let me not forget my hourly thanksgiving that You have remained with me, and always will be there to hear my call to You and answer me. As evening comes, let all my thoughts be still of You and of Your Love. And let me sleep sure of my safety, certain of Your care, and happily aware I am Your Son.

This is as every day should be. Today, practice the end of fear. Have faith in Him Who is your Father. Trust all things to Him. Let Him reveal all things to you, and be you undismayed be­cause you are His Son. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 232, W-pII.232. See also ACIM Lesson 232 Insights.)

Today’s prayer expresses a willingness to accept our true Self as It is — free of limitation and eternally united with our Creator. Our true Self knows It is eternally safe in the Mind of God. It knows It is in need of nothing, for God has given His Son all of Himself. Nothing else exists.

Our true Self rests in the peace of God and shares His joy. All this is already ours. We are willing to let go of the limited self-concept that we have believed is our identity. We are willing to remember that we are united with every brother in Love as God’s one Son. This is what we accept when we let our mind welcome God and remember Who we are.

How to Bring Peace and Joy to a Troubled World

There are no laws but God’s. Dismiss all foolish magical beliefs today, and hold your mind in silent readiness to hear the Voice that speaks the truth to you. You will be listening to One Who says there is no loss under the laws of God. Payment is neither given nor received. Exchange cannot be made; there are no substitutes; and nothing is replaced by something else. God’s laws forever give and never take.

Hear Him Who tells you this, and realize how foolish are the “laws” you thought upheld the world you thought you saw. Then listen further. He will tell you more. About the Love your Father has for you. About the endless joy He offers you. About His yearning for His only Son, created as His channel for creation; denied to Him by his [Son’s] belief in hell.

Let us today open God’s channels to Him, and let His Will extend through us to Him. Thus is creation [extension of Love] endlessly increased. His Voice will speak of this to us, as well as of the joys of Heaven which His laws keep limitless forever. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 76, W-pI.76.9:1-11:3. We obey God’s Law by extending Love’s oneness. Our true Self does this by Its nature. It sees nothing as separate. It sees only the Love in every brother, united with Itself in our Creator. This is the Self that shares Heaven’s joy and wishes only to extend the Love It is.

The world we see with separate images defined by differences, capable of change or harm, is a defense against God’s Law. It begins with an image of a separate self from which a world is projected that seems to prove the reality of separation. If only Love is real, this could never be true. We are believing in a mistaken set of laws that bind us to a false identity.

Let us join together today to quiet our minds and wait for His Voice to help us see past the laws of limitation and accept the law of limitless Love. With His help, we will become aware of the Love behind the fearful or angry calls for Love that stem from false perception. With this vision, the innate Love of our true Self will respond with Love. This is how we bring peace and joy to the world.

Freeing Ourselves to Share God’s Joy

Only my condemnation injures me.

My condemnation keeps my vision dark, and through my sightless eyes I cannot see the vision of my glory. Yet today I can behold this glory and be glad.

It can be but my gratitude I earn.

Who should give thanks for my salvation but myself? And how but through salvation can I find the Self to Whom my thanks are due?

I am not a body. I am free.

The body is like an anchor that keeps us stuck in the ego’s fantasy of separation. The way to release ourselves from this anchor is to forgive the thought that values separation and specialness over the unity and happiness of God’s Love.

The ego has disguised the thought of separation with many forms. Thus it seems that forgiveness must be repeated many times as we learn that forms are not real and cannot separate us from the reality of universal Love.

With practice we learn that these many forms have a common thread. Our forgiveness generalizes as it is applied to specific situations. The release from the ego’s anchor is magnified with each forgiven perception. We do not have to forgive the myriad forms the ego presents, for we increasingly recognize they are all the same. They are illusions that have no substance and no meaning. We lay them down in gratitude as we experience the happiness that comes with recognizing we are not a body.

Claiming Our Identity as Love

God’s Name [Identity] is holy, but no holier than yours. To call upon His Name is but to call upon your own [identity]. A father gives his son his name, and thus identifies the son with him. His brothers share his name, and thus are they united in a bond to which they turn for their identity. Your Father’s Name reminds you who you are, even within a world that does not know; even though you have not remembered it.

God’s Name can not be heard without response, nor said with­out an echo in the mind that calls you to remember. Say His Name, and you invite the angels to surround the ground on which you stand, and sing to you as they spread out their wings to keep you safe, and shelter you from every worldly thought [of separation] that would intrude upon your holiness.

Repeat the Name of God, and call upon your Self, Whose Name is His. Repeat His Name, and all the tiny, nameless things on earth slip into right perspective. Those who call upon the Name of God can not mistake the nameless for the Name, nor sin for grace, nor bodies for the holy Son of God. And should you join a brother as you sit with him in silence, and repeat God’s Name along with him within your quiet mind, you have established there an altar which reaches to God Himself and to His Son. While we identify with a body, we are identifying with a false identity that is a construct of the ego belief in separation. It is an illusion that could never be true and has no meaning, no real identity. While we identify with the body, we are unaware of the Identity we share with God. It is as though we tried to divorce God and change our name to take on a separate identity.

This can only seem to be accomplished in fantasies. As we shift our allegiance from a bodily identity to the Self God created one with Him, we remember we are not a body. We are Spirit. We are Love, united with every brother in the Love of God.

Our perception of the world shifts as we recognize the body is not what we are. The unity of Love shines through. The appearance of differences fades and the Light of Love shines through every brother as it lights our mind.

Today we call upon the Love that is God’s Identity to enlightened our mind and fill our hearts so that we may see the reality of Love in every brother.

How to See Love Everywhere

All things are lessons God would have you learn. He would not leave an unforgiving thought without correction, nor one thorn or nail to hurt His holy Son in any way. He would ensure his holy rest remain untroubled and serene, without a care, in an eternal home which cares for him. And He would have all tears be wiped away, with none remaining yet unshed, and none but waiting their appointed time to fall. For God has willed that laughter should replace each [tear], and that His Son be free again.

Do not try to hold [forgiveness] off another day, another minute or another instant. Time was made for this. Use it today for what its purpose is. Morning and night, devote what time you can to serve its proper aim, and do not let the time be less than meets your deepest need.

There is a way to look on everything that lets it be to you another step to Him, and to salvation of the world. To all that speaks of terror, answer thus:

I will forgive, and this will disappear.

We have taught ourselves that this world of conflict and loss, fear and guilt, is real. The lessons God would have us learn are that this world is not real; only Love is real. His lessons undo the mistaken lessons we have taught ourselves to believe. The ego is a hoax, a self-deception, not to be believed, but to be dismissed for the nothingness it is.

God has given us the Help we need to learn His lessons which free us to return to our Home in His Love.  To learn these lessons we need to be vigilant in every moment to hold our mind open to our inner Teacher. With an open mind, willing to be taught, we can learn to recognize the presence of Love everywhere. Perceptions of conflict and loss are replaced with the recognition of our need to accept God’s Love and see It everywhere.

Our fear and guilt are calls for Love; Love answers with the assurance that what we perceive is not real. Love shines Its Light to dispel the dark veil of separation and reveal the presence of Love that never left us.

Today’s practice leads to awareness of the peace and joy that is our Home in Love.
