Remembering to Let Love Be

I have already chosen what You will.

Father, I thought I wandered from Your Will, defied it, broke its laws, and interposed a second will more powerful than Yours. ²Yet what I am in truth is but Your Will, extended and extending. ³This am I, and this will never change. ⁴As You are One, so am I one with You. ⁵And this I chose in my creation, where my will became forever one with Yours. ⁶That choice was made for all eternity. ⁷It cannot change, and be in opposition to itself. ⁸Father, my will is Yours. ⁹And I am safe, untroubled and serene, in endless joy, because it is Your Will that it be so.

Today we will accept our union with each other and our Source. ²We have no will apart from His, and all of us are one because His Will is shared by all of us. ³Through it we recognize that we are one. ⁴Through it we find our way at last to God. Fear of God describes the constant state of the ego. It is afraid of God because it believes it is in opposition to God’s Will, because it is. But in truth, there is no will but God’s. The ego has projected its wishes on God, making God seem to demand sacrifice. This perceived sacrifice is just the ego’s projection of its demands to maintain its seeming existence.

God’s Will for us is perfect peace, happiness and changeless Love. There is no cause for fear here, unless we accept the ego’s wish to have special status, different from all others. All we need do to awaken to God’s Love is stop denying It. We are grateful that we have the means to let go of the wish for specialness and remember our initial choice to be Love, forever dwelling in God’s Love.

Everything that seems to disturb our peace can be used as an opportunity to forgive our mistaken wish and let Love be. To let Love be is to let our true Self be as God created It. We choose Love today in memory of our initial choice to accept God’s Love in our creation. With this choice, we return to our natural state, at one with our Creator.

Accepting Our Function as God’s Messenger

Let me be still and listen to the truth.

Hear Him today, and listen to the Word which lifts the veil that lies upon the earth, and wakes all those who sleep and cannot see. ²God calls to them through you. ³He needs your voice to speak to them, for who could reach God’s Son except his Father, calling through your Self? ⁴Hear Him today, and offer Him your voice to speak to all the multitude who wait to hear the Word that He will speak today.

Today the holy Word of God is kept through your receiving it to give away, so you can teach the world what giving means by listening and learning it of Him. ²Do not forget today to reinforce your choice to hear and to receive the Word by this reminder, given to yourself as often as is possible today:

³Let me be still and listen to the truth.
⁴I am the messenger of God today, my voice is His,
to give what I receive. (W-106.5;10)

Every moment is an opportunity to be a messenger of God. It is the choice between following His Voice or the ego’s. The ego’s voice seems louder and more insistent because it brings conflict with it. But God’s Voice remains with us always. We can receive His message if we are willing to pause and welcome His peace in place of the ego’s conflict.

We set our intent for today by taking time to let ourselves sink deeply into His peace. It is there to be accepted. As we let ourselves receive it, our mind becomes more quiet. We become more aware of Love’s presence. We feel its comfort and strength. We rest in that presence and remember He is with us always.

With this intent, we go into our day confident that we will be directed in all our busy doing. As we let His Love be our Guide, our words and actions carry the message of Love throughout the day. In peace we remain His messenger, with a joyful message that we are united in God’s Love, forever safe, forever happy, forever loved and loving.

Returning Our Mind to Peace

The Thought of peace was given to God’s Son the instant that his mind had thought of war. ²There was no need for such a Thought before, for peace was given without opposite, and merely was. ³But when the mind is split there is a need of healing. ⁴So the Thought that has the power to heal the split became a part of every fragment of the mind that still was one, but failed to recognize its oneness. ⁵Now it did not know itself, and thought its own Identity was lost.

Salvation is undoing in the sense that it does nothing, failing to support the world of dreams and malice. ²Thus it lets illusions go. ³By not supporting them, it merely lets them quietly go down to dust. ⁴And what they hid is now revealed; an altar to the holy Name of God whereon His Word is written, with the gifts of your forgiveness laid before it, and the memory of God not far behind.

Let us come daily to this holy place, and spend a while together. ²Here we share our final dream. ³It is a dream in which there is no sorrow, for it holds a hint of all the glory given us by God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.2.2:1–4:3)

Peace is our natural state of mind. It is an attribute of the Love that is our true Self. Conflict is inevitable when we believe that differences are real; that it is possible for some to have more and others less. This belief is at the core of every battle, every thought of guilt or shame. But beliefs can change.

We are free in every moment to accept the reality of our oneness with our Creator in perfect, changeless Love. If we are willing to pause and rise above the battleground of differences, we see the Light of Love everywhere. The Light dispels the dark shadows of imaginings that seem to make differences real. There is no greater joy than to participate in the eternal flow of giving and receiving Love. This thought undoes all conflict and returns our mind to peace.

Unbinding the Love We Are

Let me not bind Your Son with laws I made.

Your Son is free, my Father. ²Let me not imagine I have bound him with the laws I made to rule the body. ³He is not subject to any laws I made by which I try to make the body more secure. ⁴He is not changed by what is changeable. ⁵He is not slave to any laws of time. ⁶He is as You created him, because he knows no law except the law of love.

Let us not worship idols, nor believe in any law idolatry would make to hide the freedom of the Son of God. ²He is not bound except by his beliefs. ³Yet what he is, is far beyond his faith in slavery or freedom. ⁴He is free because he is his Father’s Son. ⁵And he cannot be bound unless God’s truth can lie, and God can will that He deceive Himself. When we believe we are a body, we have convinced ourselves that a lie is true. By this belief, we think we have limited the unlimited to a form that limits us to a small space and a brief time. This is not God’s Will for us. Love cannot be limited in truth.

The purpose of the Course is to lead us out of this mistaken belief that denies God’s Will for us to be happy, at peace, loved and loving. Our only meaningful purpose in this world is to let go of the belief that limits the Love we are. The limitations we believe we have are myriad. Their complexity hides the simplicity of the truth: We are Love and nothing else.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see the Love that is every brother and remember we are that same Love, united in the Love of God. Everyone we meet or even think of offers us this opportunity to remember only Love is real.

We Are Loved Beyond Measure

I give my life to God to guide today.

Father, I give You all my thoughts today. ²I would have none of mine. ³In place of them, give me Your Own. ⁴I give You all my acts as well, that I may do Your Will instead of seeking goals which cannot be obtained, and wasting time in vain imaginings. ⁵Today I come to You. ⁶I will step back and merely follow You. ⁷Be You the Guide, and I the follower who questions not the wisdom of the Infinite, nor Love whose tenderness I cannot comprehend, but which is yet Your perfect gift to me.

Today we have one Guide to lead us on. ²And as we walk together, we will give this day to Him with no reserve at all. ³This is His day. ⁴And so it is a day of countless gifts and mercies unto us. (A Course in Miracles, W-233. See also ACIM Lesson 233 Insights.)

The ego is the guide to conflict, fear and anger. God is the Guide to peace and eternal, limitless Love. It seems the choice of which guide to follow would be obvious. But we have taught ourselves to value specialness ahead of Love’s oneness. This wish for specialness requires vigilance to maintain the appearance that it is possible to have more than everything. Only with illusions can this appearance be maintained.

Yet beyond the illusions, the reality of Love remains unchanged and ever present. If we are willing, God will guide us with His Voice out of the quagmire of illusions we have made. With willingness to let go of treasured illusions, the Love in which we live is revealed.

We are indeed loved beyond measure. Today we can choose to let God guide our way to the remembrance of the Love in which we live.

We Live in Gratitude

I rest in God.

²I rest in God today, and let Him work in me and through me, while I rest in Him in quiet and in perfect certainty.

I am as God created me.

²I am God’s Son. ³Today I lay aside all sick illusions of myself, and let my Father tell me Who I really am. (A Course in Miracles, W-120.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 120 Insights.)

It is time to stop participating in the ego’s rebellion against God’s Will. We pay a steep price for this rebellion. It leaves us without awareness of the Reality of God’s limitless Love for us, His Son. In its place, we dream of lack of Love in myriad forms — guilt, fear, anger, sadness, sickness and death.

In any now moment we can lay aside the rebellion and accept the Reality of our eternal Life held safely in the Love of God. With this acceptance, we find peace and happiness. The joy of extending the gift of Love we receive lights our life. We live in gratitude.

Finding Life’s True Meaning

³The world the holy see is beautiful because they see their innocence in it. ⁴They did not tell it what it was; they did not make adjustments to fit their orders. ⁵They gently questioned it and whispered, “What are you?” ⁶And He Who watches over all perception answered.

Such is my will for you and your brother, and for each of you for one another and for himself. ²Here there is only holiness and joining without limit. ³For what is Heaven but union, direct and perfect, and without the veil of fear upon it? ⁴Here are we one, looking with perfect gentleness upon each other and on ourselves. ⁵Here all thoughts of any separation between us become impossible. ⁶You who were a prisoner in separation are now made free in Paradise. ⁷And here would I unite with you, my friend, my brother and my Self.

³There is no fear in perfect love because it knows no sin, and it must look on others as on itself. ⁴Looking with charity within, what can it fear without? ⁵The innocent see safety, and the pure in heart see God within His Son, and look unto the Son to lead them to the Father. ⁶And where else would they go but where they will to be? ⁷You and your brother now will lead the other to the Father as surely as God created His Son holy, and kept him so. ⁸In your brother is the light of God’s eternal promise of your immortality. ⁹See him as sinless, and there can be no fear in you. The way out of the ego’s dream of separation and specialness is to ask the Holy Spirit of everything, “What is this for?” This question, asked with an open mind, will let the truth be revealed to you beyond the ego’s images of fear and death.

The Holy Spirit will show you that all meaning is found in Love. Love joins us with everyone and everything. Love is one and sees Its unity everywhere. Love does not judge because It sees all things unified with Itself. With Him as our Guide, our journey is Light, lit with the peace and joy of Love. It is a happy journey because It leads us Home to the Heaven of God’s Love.
