Accepting the Radiant Love in Our Brothers

You have so little faith in yourself because you are unwilling to accept the fact that perfect love is in you. ²And so you seek without for what you cannot find without. ³I offer you my perfect faith in you, in place of all your doubts. ⁴But forget not that my faith must be as perfect in all your brothers as it is in you, or it would be a limited gift to you. ⁵In the holy instant we share our faith in God’s Son because we recognize, together, that he is wholly worthy of it, and in our appreciation of his worth we cannot doubt his holiness. ⁶And so we love him.

³In the holy instant you recognize the idea of love in you, and unite this idea with the Mind that thought it, and could not relinquish it. ⁴By holding it within itself, there _is_ no loss. ⁵The holy instant thus becomes a lesson in how to hold all of your brothers in your mind, experiencing not loss but completion. ⁶From this it follows you can only give. ⁷And this is love, for this alone is natural under the laws of God.

To know our true Self, we must must recognize the true Self in our brothers. This Self is one and the same. This Self is the extension of God’s Love, His Son. It has no form, but it is the Mind we share with our Creator.

While we identify with a body, we need to learn to disregard what the body sees and experiences; it is all part of the illusion of separation. But we can allow ourselves moments of clarity in our mind which the Course calls the holy instant. In this instant we see past all the forms to the reality of Love.

The Holy Spirit was given us to help us learn to welcome the holy instant through forgiveness. As we forgive the appearances in the world that seem to make us separate, we let the Light of Love dawn upon our mind. We see the Love in our brother and overlook the appearance of bodies and what they seem to do. They are recognized as meaningless.

As we let illusions go, the radiant Love that joins us with our brothers fills our mind. We find peace and joy in our unity. This is the only gift we need to give. It is a gift we receive as we give.

Recognizing Our True Self in Our Brothers

We stand together, Christ and I, in peace and certainty of purpose. And in Him is His Creator, as He is in me.

My oneness with the Christ establishes me as Your Son, beyond the reach of time, and wholly free of every law but Yours. ²I have no self except the Christ in me. ³I have no purpose but His Own. ⁴And He is like His Father. ⁵Thus must I be one with You as well as Him. ⁶For who is Christ except Your Son as You created Him? ⁷And what am I except the Christ in me? (A Course in Miracles, W-354. See also ACIM Lesson 354 Insights.)

We stand with Christ, not beside us but in us. He is our true Self. He is the unity that keeps us joined with every brother. He is not defined by bodies, but by the Love of His Creator.

Today, as we think about or see a brother, we remind ourselves, “Christ is in him as He is in me.” We share this one Self. There is no other. As we accept this fact, thoughts of judgment and differences fade away.

We know we live under the law of Love. This law guarantees that what we give, we receive. Each moment we are able to recognize the Christ in a brother, the Christ within is more clear to us. His peace and happiness are ours and accepted more and more.

Experiencing Limitless Love

Today I learn the law of love; that

what I give my brother is my gift to me.

This is Your law, my Father, not my own. ²I have not understood what giving means, and thought to save what I desired for myself alone. ³And as I looked upon the treasure that I thought I had, I found an empty place where nothing ever was or is or will be. ⁴Who can share a dream? ⁵And what can an illusion offer me? ⁶Yet he whom I forgive will give me gifts beyond the worth of anything on earth. ⁷Let my forgiven brothers fill my store with Heaven’s treasures, which alone are real. ⁸Thus is the law of love fulfilled. ⁹And thus Your Son arises and returns to You.

How near we are to one another, as we go to God. ²How near is He to us. ³How close the ending of the dream of sin, and the redemption of the Son of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-344. See also ACIM Lesson 344 Insights.)

How we see our brother is how we see ourselves. If we see him as a body, we believe we are a body. If we see Him as Love and nothing else, His vision comes from the Love we are, our true Self.

Anything that interferes with our recognition with the Love that is our brother, must be forgiven. As we forgive our perception of a brother, we experience Love’s blessing. Every day is filled with opportunities to accept the Love we are by giving gifts of forgiveness. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us see with Christ’s vision and know that only Love is real. There is no limit to the Love we will experience.

Learning to Remember Our Holiness

Deep within you is everything that is perfect, ready to radiate through you and out into the world. ²It will cure all sorrow and pain and fear and loss because it will heal the mind that thought these things were real, and suffered out of its allegiance to them.

You can never be deprived of your perfect holiness because its Source goes with you wherever you go. ²You can never suffer because the Source of all joy goes with you wherever you go. ³You can never be alone because the Source of all life goes with you wherever you go. ⁴Nothing can destroy your peace of mind because God goes with you wherever you go.

It is quite possible to reach God. ²In fact it is very easy, because it is the most natural thing in the world. ³You might even say it is the only natural thing in the world. ⁴The way will open, if you believe that it is possible. ⁵This exercise can bring very startling results even the first time it is attempted, and sooner or later it is always successful. Belief is the key to recognizing that God is always with us. But when we accepted the ego as our identity, we taught ourselves to believe that we are separate from God. That belief is reinforced every day as long as we follow the ego’s dictates. The ego does not want us to accept that God goes with us wherever we go. It knows that our full acceptance of this fact would be the ego’s end.

Today we can take important steps toward experiencing the fact that God is with us always. Love is in us always. Love’s vision is available to us in every moment to see It’s reflection in every brother. It is the tie that unites us with every brother and our Creator. It is what makes us whole and keeps us holy.

As we go through today, we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see with the eyes of Love. This practice will bring us to peace and joy.

Being a Beacon of Love for the World

Just as God’s Son completes his Father, so your part in it completes your Father’s plan. ²Salvation must reverse the mad belief in separate thoughts and separate bodies, which lead separate lives and go their separate ways. ³One function shared by separate minds unites them in one purpose, for each one of them is equally essential to them all.

God’s Will for you is perfect happiness. ²Why should you choose to go against His Will? ³The part that He has saved for you to take in working out His plan is given you that you might be restored to what He wills. ⁴This part is as essential to His plan as to your happiness. ⁵Your joy must be complete to let His plan be understood by those to whom He sends you. ⁶They will see their function in your shining face, and hear God calling to them in your happy laugh.

…your part is to be happy. ⁴Only this is asked of you or anyone who wants to take his place among God’s messengers.

⁵Look deep within you, undismayed by all the little thoughts and foolish goals you pass as you ascend to meet the Christ in you.

He will be there. ²You are essential to His plan. ³You are His messenger today. ⁴And you must find what He would have you give. (A Course in Miracles, W-100.1–2;7:3-4;8:5;10:1-4. See also ACIM Lesson 100 Insights.)

Happiness comes with accepting our true Self as God created It. This acceptance comes as we forgive the wish for specialness and separation, in all the many forms in which it appears in the world. Our true Self remains one with our Creator. Thus our happiness can only be found within, where we recognize the Self that lives in Love’s oneness.

To bring this Self to the forefront of our awareness, we must let ourselves settle past all the images of the world to the peace within. Here is where our happiness lies. From this center of happiness and peace, the Light we are radiates to the world. As we accept this Light for ourselves, we become beacons in the world that show the way to the Heaven of God’s Love.

Letting Love Bring Light to Our World

Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved.

²Let me realize today that the problem is always some form of grievance that I would cherish. ³Let me also understand that the solution is always a miracle with which I let the grievance be replaced. ⁴Today I would remember the simplicity of salvation by reinforcing the lesson that there is one problem and one solution. ⁵The problem is a grievance; the solution is a miracle. ⁶And I invite the solution to come to me through my forgiveness of the grievance, and my welcome of the miracle that takes its place.

Specific applications of this idea might be in these forms:

²This presents a problem to me which I would have resolved.
³The miracle behind this grievance will resolve it for me.
⁴The answer to this problem is the miracle that it conceals. (A Course in Miracles, W-90.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 90 Insights.)

This dream world of separation is a defense against God’s Love. All the forms in the world are limits and do not permit the limitless extension of God’s Love that is God’s Will. Yet this limit only seems to real in the dream.

In truth, the Love we are remains eternally united with God’s Love and extends without limit. We try to disown our responsibility for the world we perceive by believing outside things can affect us. Thus they represent our grievance. But we can learn to see the presence of Love in which we live.

The events and forms in the world that seem to disturb us are recognized as having no effect on the Love we are. As we learn to let go of the meaning we have given forms, we make way for Love to shine through. We experience more peace and happiness, for we recognize the Love beyond the images in the world. We let the miracle of Love’s extension lighten our lives and joy fills our hearts.

Remembering We Are Love and Nothing Else

I am under no laws but God’s.

²Here is the perfect statement of my freedom. ³I am under no laws but God’s. ⁴I am constantly tempted to make up other laws and give them power over me. ⁵I suffer only because of my belief in them. ⁶They have no real effect on me at all. ⁷I am perfectly free of the effects of all laws save God’s. ⁸And His are the laws of freedom.

For specific forms in applying this idea, these would be useful:

²My perception of this shows me I believe in laws that do not exist.
³I see only the laws of God at work in this.
⁴Let me allow God’s laws to work in this, and not my own. (A Course in Miracles, W-88.3–4. See also ACIM Lesson 88 Insights.)

Since God is only Love, His laws are the laws of Love. They are also our laws because we are one with our Creator.

We believe in a world with other laws that govern everything we experience in a body. But neither the body nor all of the world’s laws we made are real. They only seem to have effect in our dream of separation. We can return to our Life within the laws of God by forgiving our wish for specialness. This wish manifests in our dream in myriad ways, every day of the body’s seeming life.

With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can use these experiences as opportunities to forgive. This practice will free us from our identification with the body and the experience of being separate from God’s Love. It will return us to the full awareness that we are no laws but the laws of Love. We will remember that we are Love and nothing else.
