Accepting God’s Happiness as Ours

Father, Your Son is holy. ²I am he on whom You smile in love and tenderness so dear and deep and still the universe smiles back on You, and shares Your Holiness. ³How pure, how safe, how holy, then, are we, abiding in Your Smile, with all Your Love bestowed upon us, living one with You, in brotherhood and Fatherhood complete; in sinlessness so perfect that the Lord of Sinlessness conceives us as His Son, a universe of Thought completing Him.

Let us not, then, attack our sinlessness, for it contains the Word of God to us. ²And in its kind reflection we are saved. (A Course in Miracles, W-341.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 341 Insights.)

A smile represents a happy mind. God is eternally happy with all His Creation. We are one with Him as His Son, so we share His happy state of Mind.

But when we identify with the ego, we cannot be truly happy because we have denied the Mind of happiness. The ego believes in isolation, separateness. This must mean that the ego does not recognize the one Mind that is eternally happy and is our Source.

To let go of our allegiance to the ego, we need to forgive our mistaken beliefs that we are separate and alone. We cannot see ourselves as different from anything or anyone and know the happiness that comes with Love’s oneness.

Let us join in the goal to recognize our sameness in the Love that is the one Self we share with every brother. We call upon the Holy Spirit to help us learn this important lesson that will put a smile on our face. It represents our acceptance of our place in the Heart of Love.

The Path That Sets Us Free to Be Love

I let forgiveness rest upon all things, for thus forgiveness will be given me.

I thank You, Father, for Your plan to save me from the hell I made. ²It is not real. ³And You have given me the means to prove its unreality to me. ⁴The key is in my hand, and I have reached the door beyond which lies the end of dreams. ⁵I stand before the gate of Heaven, wondering if I should enter in and be at home. ⁶Let me not wait again today. ⁷Let me forgive all things, and let creation be as You would have it be and as it is. ⁸Let me remember that I am Your Son, and opening the door at last, forget illusions in the blazing light of truth, as memory of You returns to me.

Brother, forgive me now. ²I come to you to take you home with me. ³And as we go, the world goes with us on our way to God. (A Course in Miracles, W-342. See also ACIM Lesson 342 Insights.)

Forgiveness is the key to happiness and peace. This is the core message of the Course. Forgiveness does not deny anything real in order to forgive. It simply recognizes illusions for what they are. Illusions recognized are set aside as not worthy of our belief. Illusions have no real consequences.

Our allegiance to the ego has left us confused about what is real and what is illusion. But we have a Helper in our mind Whose mission is to teach us to recognize illusion and see past it to the truth. We can trust this Helper, for He was given to us by God with the mission to set us free from our self-made hell of fear and guilt.

Today we ask for and accept the Holy Spirit’s help to recognize the unreality of illusions of separation. This is the path that sets us free to know that we, along with every brother, are one in Love eternally. Forgiveness the a gift we give ourselves.

We Cannot Change God’s Creation

⁴If you remain as God created you fear has no meaning, evil is not real, and misery and death do not exist.

If you remain as God created you, appearances cannot replace the truth, health cannot turn to sickness, nor can death be substitute for life, or fear for love. ²All this has not occurred, if you remain as God created you. ³You need no thought but just this one, to let redemption come to light the world and free it from the past.

In this one thought is all the past undone; the present saved to quietly extend into a timeless future. ²If you are as God created you, then there has been no separation of your mind from His, no split between your mind and other minds, and only unity within your own.

The healing power of today’s idea is limitless. ²It is the birthplace of all miracles, the great restorer of the truth to the awareness of the world. ³Practice today’s idea with gratitude. ⁴This is the truth that comes to set you free. ⁵This is the truth that God has promised you. ⁶This is the Word [Thought] in which all sorrow ends. We have accepted a mistaken thought that we are separate from all things. This thought has made a dream world of separate things. In this world we experience conflict, loss, guilt and fear. We seek for love here but it is nowhere to be found.

Here it is suggested that we accept a different Thought. This Thought tells us the truth of What we are. We need to pause and step back from the world and allow this Thought that we remain as God created us to fill our mind.

We will realize the truth in us is eternal. It shares the joy of giving Love with All That is. It is quiet and in need of nothing. The Love we are encompasses everyone. We see every brother as part of our Self. We rest in this Thought, assured that we remain as God created us.

Letting Love Shine in Our World

Let us this day accept forgiveness as our only function. ²Why should we attack our minds, and give them images of pain? ³Why should we teach them they are powerless, when God holds out His power and His Love, and bids them take what is already theirs? ⁴The mind that is made willing to accept God’s gifts has been restored to spirit, and extends its freedom and its joy, as is the Will of God united with its own. ⁵The Self which God created cannot sin, and therefore cannot suffer. ⁶Let us choose today that He be our Identity, and thus escape forever from all things the dream of fear appears to offer us.

Father, Your Son can not be hurt. ²And if we think we suffer, we but fail to know our one Identity we share with You. ³We would return to It today, to be made free forever from all our mistakes, and to be saved from what we thought we were. Love created us like Itself. Love can only bless. It cannot suffer pain or harm. The Love that is our true Self is always joyous and at peace. In the world, this state of mind of Love, joy and peace seems to be a dream.

But this world is the dream. We can awaken to our Reality through forgiveness. Whenever we perceive pain or fear, anger or sadness, it signals a belief that needs to be forgiven. Any disturbance to our peace of mind is a sign that we are believing in a false identity. It is time to call upon the Holy Spirit to help us let go of this false belief to see the truth of our Identity as Love.

We dedicate this day to open our inner windows and doors to let the Love in which we live shine through.

Remembering God Is Our Home

God is with me. I live and move in Him.

God is with me. ²He is my Source of life, the life within, the air I breathe, the food by which I am sustained, the water which renews and cleanses me. ³He is my home, wherein I live and move; the Spirit which directs my actions, offers me Its Thoughts, and guarantees my safety from all pain. ⁴He covers me with kindness and with care, and holds in love the Son He shines upon, who also shines on Him. ⁵How still is he who knows the truth of what He speaks today!

Father, we have no words except Your Name upon our lips and in our minds, as we come quietly into Your Presence now, and ask to rest with You in peace a while. (A Course in Miracles, W-222. See also ACIM Lesson 222 Insights.)

We pause today to rest in God’s peace. This is our Home. We take refuge here to remember our Life is in Him. With this memory in our mind and peace in our heart, we go forth into the world with His message that only Love is real. We see every brother as one with us in this Love. We experience joy in the limitless extension of Love.

As we remember God is our Home, we bring our Home with is in all our busy doing. His Love guides us; His strength protects us.

The Power of God’s Love Is Ours

Use all the little names and symbols which delineate the world of darkness. ²Yet accept them not as your reality. ³The Holy Spirit uses all of them, but He does not forget creation has one Name, one meaning, and a single Source which unifies all things within Itself. ⁴Use all the names the world bestows on them but for convenience, yet do not forget [all things] share the Name of God along with you.

Father, our Name [Identity] is Yours. ²In It we are united with all living things, and You Who are their one Creator. ³What we made and call by many different names is but a shadow we have tried to cast across Your Own reality. ⁴And we are glad and thankful we were wrong. ⁵All our mistakes we give to You, that we may be absolved from all effects our errors seemed to have. ⁶And we accept the truth You give, in place of every one of them. ⁷Your Name is our salvation and escape from what we made. ⁸Your Name unites us in the oneness which is our inheritance and peace. ⁹Amen. In our creation, God shared His Identity. Everything He is we are as His Son — all His power, His happiness and His Love. The omnipotence He shares gives His Son power to extend Love without limit, equally to all.

Any sense of limitation, weakness or lack comes from believing that we are separate from God. From this belief comes the need to grasp and take whatever we can to recover what we seem to have lost. But loss is impossible in the eternal oneness of God’s Love. We know of this Love by sharing It. As we give Love, we strengthen It in ourselves.

As we let the Holy Spirit share His vision with us, we learn to look past the little meanings we have given the forms in the world. The Love we are shines Its light on what we see and we recognize we live in Love. Our heart’s desire is to share that Love, to see It in every brother. In this vision we know we are united with every brother as God’s one Son, His extension of Love.

Awakening to the Love in Which We Live

Your only problem has been solved! ²Repeat this over and over to yourself today, with gratitude and conviction. ³You have recognized your only problem [belief in separation], opening the way for the Holy Spirit to give you God’s answer. ⁴You have laid deception aside, and seen the light of truth. ⁵You have accepted salvation for yourself by bringing the problem to the answer. ⁶And you can recognize the answer [accept oneness], because the problem has been identified.

You are entitled to peace today. ²A problem that has been resolved cannot trouble you. ³Only be certain you do not forget that all problems are the same. ⁴Their many forms will not deceive you while you remember this. ⁵One problem, one solution. ⁶Accept the peace this simple statement brings. Only God’s undivided Love is real. This is the central thought the Course teaches. Whenever we believe there is a problem, it is because in some way we believe God’s Love can be lost. This means we have come to believe that it is possible for lack of Love to be real. This can only seem to be true in a dream that denies Reality. This is the world we experience as separate bodies.

We can awaken from this dream by forgiving the wish for specialness, which is the cause of our belief in separation. This wish has led to countless conflicts and a deep sense of loss of Love.

Today we practice pausing to remind ourselves that whatever troubles us comes from the mistaken belief that differences (separation) are real. Then we call upon the Holy Spirit to help us heal our mistaken belief and recognize the Love in which we live. As we accept His help, the Light of Love will dawn upon our minds and the dark thoughts of separation will be dispelled. We awaken to Love.
