Letting Our Mind Rest in Love

Peace to my mind. Let all my thoughts be still.

Father, I come to You today to seek the peace that You alone can give. ²I come in silence. ³In the quiet of my heart, the deep recesses of my mind, I wait and listen for Your Voice. ⁴My Father, speak to me today. ⁵I come to hear Your Voice in silence and in certainty and love, sure You will hear my call and answer me.

Now do we wait in quiet. ²God is here, because we wait together. ³I am sure that He will speak to you, and you will hear. ⁴Accept my confidence, for it is yours. ⁵Our minds are joined. ⁶We wait with one intent; to hear our Father’s answer to our call, to let our thoughts be still and find His peace, to hear Him speak to us of what we are, and to reveal Himself unto His Son. We give ourselves a great gift when we welcome God’s peace as ours. This gift was given long ago, but denied when time began and belief in separation ruled our mind. We are not separate from the Love that created us. Love gave us all of Itself, with all Its peace and happiness.

Today we have the opportunity to let our mind open to the peace that is our Home. We pause to start the day by choosing God’s peace and accepting it as our Home. We set aside the ego’s chaotic thoughts and let our mind rest in Love.

Love shines away thoughts of fear and guilt. This Light reveals the truth that we are Love, forever united in Its oneness. This Light shines on our world and shows us the presence of Love in every brother. From a mind at peace, we see our unity. We are grateful that we remain unchanged by dreams of separation and specialness. We are Love and nothing else.

The Value of the Wish to Forgive

All things I think I see reflect ideas.

This is salvation’s keynote: What I see reflects a process in my mind, which starts with my idea of what I want. ²From there, the mind makes up an image of the thing the mind desires, judges valuable, and therefore seeks to find. ³These images are then projected outward, looked upon, esteemed as real and guarded as one’s own. ⁴From insane wishes comes an insane world. ⁵From judgment comes a world condemned. ⁶And from forgiving thoughts a gentle world comes forth, with mercy for the holy Son of God, to offer him a kindly home where he can rest a while before he journeys on, and help his brothers walk ahead with him, and find the way to Heaven and to God.

Our Father, Your ideas reflect the truth, and mine apart from Yours but make up dreams. ²Let me behold what only Yours reflect, for Yours and Yours alone establish truth. (A Course in Miracles, W-325. See also ACIM Lesson 325 Insights.)

This lesson explains clearly how the world we see is a projection from our mind. What we see reflects what we believe we are. We believe we are a separate individual in a separate body because of our wish to be special. The world reflects that wish.

This is good news because the world gives us continuous feedback of what we are wanting. When we see conflict, it doesn’t seem that we want conflict. But the conflict comes with the wish to be separate and different. When there are any differences, conflict is inevitable.

If we let go of the wish for specialness by forgiving it, the world we see changes. Kindness reins. Love shines forth. Peace returns to our troubled mind. We have the choice to forgive. And we have Help to let go of our mistaken wishes that cause guilt and fear.

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to help us forgive our insane wishes and return to the eternal oneness of Love given us by our Creator.

We Were Created in Love’s Sinlessness

God’s answer is some form of peace. All pain is healed; all misery replaced with joy. All prison doors are opened. And all sin is understood as merely a mistake.

Father, today we will forgive Your world, and let creation be Your Own. ²We have misunderstood all things. ³But we have not made sinners of the holy Sons of God. ⁴What You created sinless so abides forever and forever. ⁵Such are we. ⁶And we rejoice to learn that we have made mistakes which have no real effects on us. ⁷Sin is impossible, and on this fact forgiveness rests upon a certain base more solid than the shadow world we see. ⁸Help us forgive, for we would be redeemed. ⁹Help us forgive, for we would be at peace. Forgiveness is the key to peace of mind. Our judgments are the cause of all our pain and suffering, fear and guilt. As we let the Holy Spirit help us let go of our mistaken beliefs that are the basis for all our judgments, we find peace. It has been there forever, given us by our Creator. Only the shadows of our wish for separation have hidden the presence of God’s Love and peace in us.

We accept the Holy Spirit’s help today because we want to awaken to the Love we are.

Claiming Our Home in God’s Love

⁵You are but asked to let the future go, and place it in God’s Hands. ⁶And you will see by your experience that you have laid the past and present in His Hands as well, because the past will punish you no more, and future dread will now be meaningless.

²As it becomes a thought that rules your mind, a habit in your problem-solving repertoire, a way of quick reaction to temptation, you extend your learning to the world. ³And as you learn to see salvation in all things, so will the world perceive that it is saved.

What worry can beset the one who gives his future to the loving Hands of God? ²What can he suffer? ³What can cause him pain, or bring experience of loss to him? ⁴What can he fear? ⁵And what can he regard except with love? ⁶For he who has escaped all fear of future pain has found his way to present peace, and certainty of care the world can never threaten. ⁷He is sure that his perception may be faulty, but will never lack correction. ⁸He is free to choose again when he has been deceived; to change his mind when he has made mistakes.

Place, then, your future in the Hands of God. ²For thus you call the memory of Him to come again, replacing all your thoughts of sin and evil with the truth of love.

The ego is afraid of the future because it hangs on to a fearful memory of the past. It sees only uncertainty, so it makes plans for the future to try to control what happens and be safe. Because the ego itself is an illusion, all its plans are illusions with inherent uncertainty. As long as we identify with the ego, this is our state of mind.

But we have an alternative that brings us certainty and peace. If we are willing to place the future in God’s hands, we accept His peace as ours. God is certain because He is changeless Love. We can relax into His certainty, knowing that His plan for us is to keep us forever safe within His eternal Love. This is the Home He holds for us. We need only place our future in His Hands to claim our Home as our own. We are grateful that His plan for us is perfect peace, joy and Love.

The Gift That Awakens Us to Love

All gifts I give my brothers are my own.

As every gift my brothers give is mine, so every gift I give belongs to me. ²Each one allows a past mistake to go, and leave no shadow on the holy mind my Father loves. ³His grace is given me in every gift a brother has received throughout all time, and past all time as well. ⁴My treasure house is full, and angels watch its open doors that not one gift is lost, and only more are added. ⁵Let me come to where my treasures are, and enter in where I am truly welcome and at home, among the gifts that God has given me.

Father, I would accept Your gifts today. ²I do not recognize them. ³Yet I trust that You Who gave them will provide the means by which I can behold them, see their worth, and cherish only them as what I want. (A Course in Miracles, W-316. See also ACIM Lesson 316 Insights.)

We do not recognize our Creator’s gift to us because of our wish for specialness. Because of this wish, we don’t recognize His gift of Love. We see what we want to see. So we don’t see God’s gift of all of His Love to all equally. His Gift is unacceptable, so we deny It.

This is why forgiveness is essential for us to recognize the value of God’s one Gift of Everything. When we are able to forgive a judgment, a mistaken perception, it is a gift given to both our brother and ourself because we are one in God’s Love. It does not matter whether we believe we are forgiving ourselves or our brother. Our brothers are always reflecting back to us what we believe we are.

Today we dedicate to giving the gift of forgiveness, for in that gift, we awaken to our treasure in the Heart of God.

Seeing the Love Beyond All Appearances

Creation is the sum of all God’s Thoughts, in number infinite, and everywhere without all limit. ²Only love creates, and only like itself. ³There was no time when all that it created was not there. ⁴Nor will there be a time when anything that it created suffers any loss. ⁵Forever and forever are God’s Thoughts exactly as they were and as they are, unchanged through time and after time is done.

Creation is the opposite of all illusions, for creation is the truth. ²Creation is the holy Son of God, for in creation is His Will complete in every aspect, making every part container of the whole.

We are creation; we the Sons of God. ²We seem to be discrete, and unaware of our eternal unity with Him. ³Yet back of all our doubts, past all our fears, there still is certainty. ⁴For love remains with all its Thoughts, its sureness being theirs. ⁵God’s memory is in our holy minds, which know their oneness and their unity with their Creator. ⁶Let our function be only to let this memory return, only to let God’s Will be done on earth, only to be restored to sanity, and to be but as God created us. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.11.1;11.3:1-2;4)

God is only Love and His Will is to extend only Love. We, His Son, are that extension and thus our will is united with His. Our only function as His Son is to continue the extension of Love that created us.

In the dream we interrupt the extension of Love by dreaming separation is real. This makes Love’s extension appear to be limited, but only in the dream. We wake up from this dream of lack of Love by choosing the Holy Spirit as our Guide to interpret all our perceptions.

With His help, we will learn the perceptions are meaningless and nothing. With His vision we will overlook these perceptions to see the reality of Love everywhere. This is how we forgive the world for all our mistaken perceptions. We awaken to the Love we are — eternal, limitless, joyous and in peace. We awaken to our Reality.

Letting Love Replace Grievances

Let miracles replace all grievances.

²By this idea do I unite my will with the Holy Spirit’s, and perceive them as one. ³By this idea do I accept my release from hell. ⁴By this idea do I express my willingness to have all my illusions be replaced with truth, according to God’s plan for my salvation. ⁵I would make no exceptions and no substitutes. ⁶I want all of Heaven and only Heaven, as God wills me to have.

Useful specific forms for applying this idea would be:

²I would not hold this grievance apart from my salvation.
³Let our grievances be replaced by miracles, [name].
⁴Beyond this is the miracle by which all my grievances are replaced. (A Course in Miracles, W-89.3–4. See also ACIM Lesson 89 Insights.)

Any sense of conflict in a situation or with a person, or organization represents a grievance. Grievances always come up when there is a perception of differences. Differences can only be perceived when belief in separation has been accepted. Any grievance stands as a barrier against our acceptance of Love’s oneness.

The willingness to accept a miracle, which lets go of a perception of differences and accepts oneness in its place, is key to our awakening. Fortunately, we have help to let grievances go.

If we are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to see with Christ’s vision, forgiveness is welcomed. We see that nothing has really happened to change our true Self. We remain as God created us, Love and nothing else. Our willingness lets the Holy Spirit heal our mistaken beliefs. Conflict fades and Love takes its place.
